Dear Baldermort, To be sure that you recieved this, Sir, I have reposted it here. I hope this does not prove against me. Here it is again then. I humbly request that, time and convienience permitting, you would read this post and consider it, if you are willing. I am at my limit, Sir, with CZcams. I've had enough. Everything I watch is nothing that CZcams ever displays for me. What it does display for me is, well. Let me just say that it can't be described in polite society and I have had quite enough. In line with your offtimes spoken motto, "Do try to make some time for fun", I am. As such, I am leaving to Rumble, a platform where my interests are mine and my choices are respected. It will be difficult, yes. But difficuly is, at this point, more appealing than missery and abuse, where my choices mean, at least to CZcams, blast me with more advertisments and with content "we" know you'll enjoy more than your actual choices. So, I am going where my choices are still my own and the advertisments are not a flood of things I don't want, aren't interested in, and are a flood. Gone are the days of having a clue when an advertisment is about to start, the ability to skip any (which is all but gone), as is the peaceful enjoyment of the videos Creators like yourself, make. Do not mistake me, I know that more advertisments on videos means more money in your pocket, as you well deserve. However, I miss the days where I paid Creators myself, via Patreon, for the Creators I enjoy watching. Which hardly matters since, CZcams wouldn't show me at all, even if I did. For whatever reason, which I couldn't care less about, my Subs get removed from the Creators I pick anyway, and my choices are less of a choice to CZcams and more of a sugestion which CZcams chooses to ignore. I hope that you can see that, this has become for me less of a pleasurable experience and more of a fight. And it is a fight I do not have to have. Rumble is a good platform. I wish that more Creators would take the time, which may be limited, never the less, to upload to their platform after uploading here. Yes, their platform is less popular. Granted. However, for the consumer, it is by far the more enjoyable experience. Fewer advertisments. Respect for my choices. Fewer advertisments. I pick what I want, when I want it. I get recomended Content, when it is produced or available, from the Creators I actually watch. And, fewer advertisments. As you can see, Mr. Baldermort, the experience for me is one that is about relaxing and having fun again. I entreat you, therefore, to consider uploading your content there where, at long last, it may be enjoyed and savored plainly and not be transformed into a vehicle for P&G (Proctor & Gamble) a brand I flatly reject (and I am not kidding, my family has their products on a list and we do not buy their products, ever) due to the arrogance, presumption, and insult they have offered the people who once paid for their products. I am a man and I refuse to do business with any company who chooses to insult men whole-sale, for being men. Frankly, Old Spice and Dawn and Fabreeze and Swiffer and all other P&G products will never be in my home for as long as I live. To my knowledge, P&G continue to insult, parody, and denigrate men to this day, without even the pretense of the idea that "we just insulted the people who buy our products". I dare say, P&G products are six or seven out of any ten advertisments I am forced to watch, when watching videos I enjoy here on CZcams. As you can see, a fight that isn't yours, is forced on me now with every video I watch. And I suppose that I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I watch what I watch to escape the battles of life and the constant necessity of daily work. Not that I mind daily work. Work every day is good for the soul, as is productivity and purpose. Mine being, to provide for my family, wife and several children. Who, I might add, enjoy watching your content with me! However, it is I who have taught them to reject and withdraw their support for those who reject or pervert their very existance. Men are not babies who deserve to be insulted. Women are not Princesses, superior to, and above, men. We are equals, men and women, while not at all the same. Men guard and defend life, women grow and nurture new life. Each of us has our vital and respect-worthy place in life. Each of us has our strengths and weaknesses. No one better or worse than the other. Both of us struggling to work together for higher goals than those we could reach on our own. Equal, yet so very different in our place, purpose, and strengths and weaknesses in life are meant to come together and compliment each other, not war with one another. Whether groups of men, groups of women, or mixed groups of both men and women, a single person cannot do more than a well practiced team, of what ever type of grouping. And while it may be said that a single male Pro Soccer player can beat an entire team of female Soccer players, I dare say no man can give birth or feed their children with their own bodies either. Put both together and you have a new team which can do both and much more than can be done by man alone or woman alone. But, I have digressed enough. My point is, I head to new lands and the renewal of some old, yet still useful and beneficial, ideas may be had without mockery or insult. I'd very much like to see you there also, Baldermort. Where me and my kids can watch your entertaining content in peace. Consider this an invitation from me to you, Sir. For, whatever your values may be, I am not here in this world to fight you over them and I have not shared mine with you to start a fight. I have done so to illustrate my point that my values, and myself as a customer here, are very much unwelcome and undesired, here. Why my values are any of CZcamss business, is far beyond me. But, I shall never be turning my back on my faith or values because of CZcams. Frankly, I may not be an Astartes but, death to the Emperor! Ling live the real King, the one who died and beat death, risen again and who will return to the "weeping and gnashing of teeth" of the wicked. Not that the makers of Warhammer 40K would ever admit that they stole the concept from Christianity but the ideological borrowing of many Biblical concepts (the war in heaven between the angels being the Horus Heresy, the emperor being Jesus Christ, the Codex Astartes being the very Bible itself, and the list could go on and on for many other things based upon, while not nearly identicle to, taken right out of the greates and most popular book ever written or sold to this very day, the Bible). But what audacity and lunacy for CZcams to believe that they could beat the true God King of this world. No, I am not Astartes. I am God adopted son! And I will not fall to some modern attempt to bend me to evil by the loosers at CZcams. That battle was lost by CZcams before it even bagan. My loyalty to God is not for sale or for trade or up for debate. I am Christian, following in the footsteps of the God-made-man of reality, who beat death and flung wide the doors of salvation to all who would follow Him, and come hell on earth today, the evil of this world cannot bow or break my will. For I am at once much less physically and much more spiritually than any Astartes of any story. My God built the Universe, every galaxy, every star, every tree, and ever being who has life within it. Let the "Emperor" of 40K lay claim to that. My God, in the Trinity, God Father, God Son, and God Holy Spirit, built all of this, and He is no fantasy, no story. He is the very fabric of the woven Universe. Might be my favorite part of the setting. The ships are gorgeous and while they might seem far fetched at first, void warfare in 40k actually got a lot right. There is a surprising amount of depth and scientific thought that went into it. It is certainly far more realistic than anything we see in Star Wars, Star Trek, and a lot of other franchises... despite the aesthetics of massive cathedrals shooting each other in space
I love the attention to detail in the artwork. Back in 30k, there were few reasons to make a warship look like a cathedral and many reasons not to. They have the sleek, more sci-fi appearance we'd expect from the early _secular_ Imperium. Function over form with very few exceptions. Over time various sub-structures like sensor blisters, weapons ports, and conning towers were redecorated to fit with the religious iconography of the Imperium as things moved that way. I really appreciate the aesthetics of both, and that the artists took the time to extrapolate from the ships we have now (which IRL were designed first) to what that same class of ship might have looked like before everyone was yelling "Purge the heretic!"
The Gloriana Battleships were some of the best warships that the Imperium has ever fielded, and make no mistake that the Emperor design these ships to smash the enemies of mankind with such power and conviction that no one will ever question humanity place in the Galaxy, but even though they are no longer being made by the Imperium they still are a reminder of humanity might.
They can't make them anymore. They might be able to throw together a rough approximation; same size, number of weapons, launch decks etc. but it would be inferior in every way. The engine and weapons tech in particular is now way beyond the AdMech with their religious rituals, just maintaining things like the MH and Phalanx is proving more than M41 Humanity can handle
@@Mastercio CORRECT. Finally someone mentions it. There is no damned defense against necron vessels in LORE. I love BFGA too, but it's designed to be fair. Necrons are night terrors to face in the lore. You will not win. Lightning arcs are living lightning weapons that completely ignore all known conventional deflector shield systems including void shields. They seek out all structural weak-points with a frightening instinctive nature as if they are truly alive. In seconds the opposing ship is scrap on the radioactive solar winds.

The fact the Space wolves destroyed a World Engine is indeed valid and acceptable, but only after that nightmarish thing carved a swath through the galaxy, and even then it was done by a small squad. How much did the Imperium lose to it? Imagine if all the Tomb Worlds fully activated and became fully operational World Engines.

Slight correction: While the Nightfall was part of the rearguard during Thramas, it does survive to see the battle of Terra, with at least one coup taking place on it (see The Painted Count) and acting as a prison for Angron (The Lost and the Damned).

Vengeful spirit is an Abyss Class, not a Gloriana (tho you could argue that Abyss class is essentially just an evolution of Gloriana) I think only two abyss class were ever made, but at least 18 Glorianas (possibly more because if I remember correctly a few primarchs owned more than one and several glorianas were not directly owned by a legion) Abyss are thus muuuuch rarer than even the incredibly rare gloriana. But also even scarier
Beautifully done. To have the care shown to the men they're responsible for gets away for the pulpiness that gets tiring with 40K - making them more than just bits of meat that are thrown into wars. Part of the frustration with 40K. If "there's nothing but war" what reason is there to care about any of it? Thank you for continuing to inject some life into a setting that is desperate for it.

When it comes to 'why no more Gloriana class ships were built' - there's also the same reason as the reason that the Codex Astartes was created: A distribution and diffusion of power. The Captain of a Gloriana class has, arguably, more power than a General of the Astra Militarum when it comes to pure destructive capability. Power concentrated in the hands of any one individual was deemed 'dangerous in the extreme' after the Heresy, so why build such reservoirs of power when you can build fleets of smaller ships for the same cost in time and materiel?

You misspoke about the Conquerer. Angron has never been the master of that ship. Her master is still Loetarra Sarin, and always will be. Angron, “How’s my ship?” Loetarra, “My ship. And she’s fine.” Anyone who can rebut Angron to his face and live deserves respect.
I am convinced. If Angron didnt have those nails put into his head he'd have been the most empathetic of all the primarchs. More so then Vulkan perhaps as much if not more than Sanguinias. But those nails sealed his fate. Built the coffin so to speak. The emperor placed him inside it and Lorgar nailed it shut
You forgot the two *other* Gloriana class battleships of the First Legion. One was used to stop an Rangdan Deathstar War-moon, and the other is still in service as well.
Since the inception of the character of Belasarius Cawl I have been hoping that one of the single most significant and ancient evils facing mankind would finally be faced. That being the sleeping dragon below the surface of Mars. It being the C'tan known as the eater of knowledge that is single handedly driving humanity back to the stone age. It pace is obviously slow but significant when you see the effects like the inability to build such things as the Gloriana class ships, certain super weapons or Jet bikes to name a few.
"eater of knowledge"? Nah bro, it's because of the dragon of Mars that the imperium, especially the AdMech was able to create such advanced machines in the first place. The dragon gives knowledge, imparts it through it's dreams. The only reason why the imperium is technologically stagnating is due to the AdMechs religious dogma, where only STC's are allowed, as such it is heresy to create something new. They'd rather recreate what was, than what can be.
what inability to build jetbikes? ever since the introduction of gary stu cawl the imperium uses hover tech on virtually everything including fucking static turrets and jetbikes are fucking everywhere...

I have always and will remain impressed at the ease with which you narrate true grandeur- the way you describe locations, the way you describe the thoughts, actions, and pauses of the characters you select is truly awe inspiring, and is an inspiration to this aspiring author. I hope one day to attain the same ease with which you write, narrate, and perform, and if you should ever produce a book or audio book, o will strive to be one of it’s purchasers.
More please our liege, absolutely brilliant. Anyway I fired up my acad software and had a go at drawing schematics, layouts and cross sections of one or two Gloriana battleships, take it from me, they are bloody huge. A best guess estimate is a space going version of the Isle of Wight, only more shootie, much more,and a lot quicker too. As for all the vestiges of statues and other christmas lights gaudiness, well that's just mental. You can't drive one of these about and be sneaky, they are lit up and can be seen almost forever away, and all the escorts and battle barges aren't exactly secretive either. It was fun just doing a few simple line drawings though, hehe whoever does get the chance to put a proper book on this subject will have a whale of a time. Thank you Lord Baldy for that idea.

Tremendous! I love the gothic retro look of Warhammer spaceships. Most sci-fi/fantasy/space opera spaceship designs are very derivative and same-same, but there's something wonderfully distinctive and bonkers about warhammer ships.
I hope they release a kit for these ships as the navy lore of warhammer is one of its most engaging content topics. Id love to buy and build a model of one of these to be 3 feet or 1 metre long.
The first 15 minutes would sate me through USMC Bootcamp again and made me tear up despite being a fictional universe. WTF!? This some inspirating shit...
I love the Gloriana class so much. Back when I first started working on my homebrew chapter I wanted to give them a Gloriana class as their flagship so much, tried for months to figure out some viable option for it xD Ended up not though, as they are of course rare and immensely powerful it just wouldn't work. Awesome video, brother! Thank you!
I think the Gloriana-class ships are misunderstood. Because I feel they are more than just gigantic battleships. They are very much Space Marine Legion flagships. Their sheer size does not seem to be required for the firepower they bring to a void battle. These ships their size means they make better use of the square-cube law, thus they have vastly more space inside than you might think. They are not just over two times as long as regular battleships. These vessels have way more than two times the internal volume. And that volume is used to support entire Space Marine Legions in their accommodations like training facilities, storage spaces, production facilities or to house other facilities the Legions need or want. And they are designed to support the Legion in this fashion, for campaigns stretching into the years. A quick resupply isn't happening when conquering the Galaxy. The Legions needed a way to carry such vast supplies and facilities with them. With the breaking down of the Legions, these ships also seem to somewhat lost their purpose. They can easily carry a full Chapter and have plenty of space left over. That made them little more than very large battleships that paradoxically might be more vulnerable to boarding because they are undermanned. I don't think its a coincidence that Guilliman tends to travel with multiple Space Marine Chapters embarked on Macragge's Honour these days, after losing the ship after his resurrection via boarding. But now that the Legions seem to be returning between the Dark Angles and the Lion, the Blood Angles under Dante, Gulliman and all the Primaris Chapters and who knows what might come next. Well, its also making these massive relics, relevant again. And the situation and enemies the Imperium is now facing, also makes ships of this size, once again required.

I've wondered if one of the Gloriana battleships that weren't assigned to a specific legion were once the flagships of the II or XI legions. If so, perhaps some wonderful clues might be found. Doubtful to be sure but oh the possibilities.

The Gloriana class are great and hope we get more one off Great Crusade stories with these vessels. Also more of the Dark Angels Primarch the Lion dominating Chaos forces with his the Invincible Reason.
It's amazing that we have more representations of the Glorianas from the modding community from Battlefleet Gothic Armada 2 than we do from official GW productions.
The scene of the buchephalus docking / stationary above mars was one of the first moments i knew i loved this series. Impossibly ridiculously massive. But not dynamic. Continental. Just this thing. Like an idea. Thats what a good ship is. A persona.

To be sure that you recieved this, Sir, I have reposted it here. I hope this does not prove against me. Here it is again then. I humbly request that, time and convienience permitting, you would read this post and consider it, if you are willing.
I am at my limit, Sir, with CZcams. I've had enough. Everything I watch is nothing that CZcams ever displays for me. What it does display for me is, well. Let me just say that it can't be described in polite society and I have had quite enough.
In line with your offtimes spoken motto, "Do try to make some time for fun", I am. As such, I am leaving to Rumble, a platform where my interests are mine and my choices are respected. It will be difficult, yes. But difficuly is, at this point, more appealing than missery and abuse, where my choices mean, at least to CZcams, blast me with more advertisments and with content "we" know you'll enjoy more than your actual choices. So, I am going where my choices are still my own and the advertisments are not a flood of things I don't want, aren't interested in, and are a flood. Gone are the days of having a clue when an advertisment is about to start, the ability to skip any (which is all but gone), as is the peaceful enjoyment of the videos Creators like yourself, make. Do not mistake me, I know that more advertisments on videos means more money in your pocket, as you well deserve. However, I miss the days where I paid Creators myself, via Patreon, for the Creators I enjoy watching. Which hardly matters since, CZcams wouldn't show me at all, even if I did. For whatever reason, which I couldn't care less about, my Subs get removed from the Creators I pick anyway, and my choices are less of a choice to CZcams and more of a sugestion which CZcams chooses to ignore. I hope that you can see that, this has become for me less of a pleasurable experience and more of a fight. And it is a fight I do not have to have. Rumble is a good platform. I wish that more Creators would take the time, which may be limited, never the less, to upload to their platform after uploading here. Yes, their platform is less popular. Granted. However, for the consumer, it is by far the more enjoyable experience. Fewer advertisments. Respect for my choices. Fewer advertisments. I pick what I want, when I want it. I get recomended Content, when it is produced or available, from the Creators I actually watch. And, fewer advertisments.
As you can see, Mr. Baldermort, the experience for me is one that is about relaxing and having fun again. I entreat you, therefore, to consider uploading your content there where, at long last, it may be enjoyed and savored plainly and not be transformed into a vehicle for P&G (Proctor & Gamble) a brand I flatly reject (and I am not kidding, my family has their products on a list and we do not buy their products, ever) due to the arrogance, presumption, and insult they have offered the people who once paid for their products. I am a man and I refuse to do business with any company who chooses to insult men whole-sale, for being men. Frankly, Old Spice and Dawn and Fabreeze and Swiffer and all other P&G products will never be in my home for as long as I live. To my knowledge, P&G continue to insult, parody, and denigrate men to this day, without even the pretense of the idea that "we just insulted the people who buy our products". I dare say, P&G products are six or seven out of any ten advertisments I am forced to watch, when watching videos I enjoy here on CZcams. As you can see, a fight that isn't yours, is forced on me now with every video I watch. And I suppose that I am sick and tired of being sick and tired. I watch what I watch to escape the battles of life and the constant necessity of daily work. Not that I mind daily work. Work every day is good for the soul, as is productivity and purpose. Mine being, to provide for my family, wife and several children. Who, I might add, enjoy watching your content with me! However, it is I who have taught them to reject and withdraw their support for those who reject or pervert their very existance. Men are not babies who deserve to be insulted. Women are not Princesses, superior to, and above, men. We are equals, men and women, while not at all the same. Men guard and defend life, women grow and nurture new life. Each of us has our vital and respect-worthy place in life. Each of us has our strengths and weaknesses. No one better or worse than the other. Both of us struggling to work together for higher goals than those we could reach on our own. Equal, yet so very different in our place, purpose, and strengths and weaknesses in life are meant to come together and compliment each other, not war with one another. Yes, we are animals but, we are so much more, if we choose to be. When men are the head and women are the heart, each in the place God in heaven made for us, oh, the heights we can reach and the places we can go. For no honest reason I can see, there are forces, in this world, who would, as some dark god of the 40K universe, like to see men and women never reach their full and best potential, under the lie of "living your best life" of course. No individual ever accomplished more than a Team will. Whether groups of men, groups of women, or mixed groups of both men and women, a single person cannot do more than a well practiced team, of what ever type of grouping. And while it may be said that a single male Pro Soccer player can beat an entire team of female Soccer players, I dare say no man can give birth or feed their children with their own bodies either. Put both together and you have a new team which can do both and much more than can be done by man alone or woman alone. But, I have digressed enough.
My point is, I head to new lands and the renewal of some old, yet still useful and beneficial, ideas may be had without mockery or insult. I'd very much like to see you there also, Baldermort. Where me and my kids can watch your entertaining content in peace. Consider this an invitation from me to you, Sir. For, whatever your values may be, I am not here in this world to fight you over them and I have not shared mine with you to start a fight. I have done so to illustrate my point that my values, and myself as a customer here, are very much unwelcome and undesired, here. Why my values are any of CZcamss business, is far beyond me. But, I shall never be turning my back on my faith or values because of CZcams. Frankly, I may not be an Astartes but, death to the Emperor! And I'll gladly die any day of the week before I turn my back on the origional God King, Jesus Christ, whos death and resurection heralded the down-fall of evil and opened the doorway into the Heavens of eternity, which don't even exist in 40K. No, I won't be betraying the real God King of this world, today or any other day, because of CZcams. The emperor can go to hell. Ling live the real King, the one who died and beat death, risen again and who will return to the "weeping and gnashing of teeth" of the wicked. Not that the makers of Warhammer 40K would ever admit that they stole the concept from Christianity but the ideological borrowing of many Biblical concepts (the war in heaven between the angels being the Horus Heresy, the emperor being Jesus Christ, the Codex Astartes being the very Bible itself, and the list could go on and on for many other things based upon, while not nearly identicle to, taken right out of the greates and most popular book ever written or sold to this very day, the Bible). But what audacity and lunacy for CZcams to believe that they could beat the true God King of this world. No, I am not Astartes. I am God adopted son! And I will not fall to some modern attempt to bend me to evil by the loosers at CZcams. That battle was lost by CZcams before it even bagan. My loyalty to God is not for sale or for trade or up for debate. I am Christian, following in the footsteps of the God-made-man of reality, who beat death and flung wide the doors of salvation to all who would follow Him, and come hell on earth today, the evil of this world cannot bow or break my will. For I am at once much less physically and much more spiritually than any Astartes of any story. My God built the Universe, every galaxy, every star, every tree, and ever being who has life within it. Let the "Emperor" of 40K lay claim to that. My God, in the Trinity, God Father, God Son, and God Holy Spirit, built all of this, and He is no fantasy, no story. He is the very fabric of the woven Universe. And to all who are humble of heart and mind and spirit, willing to walk the narrow road in His Son's foot steps, we may join Him in His Kingdom, not of this world, some day, as He promised to those who would be His children by adoption, washed clean, not by our own merit, by His, and in His very blood. We fight all this world, ourselves, our fallen nature, our very selves, for His sake. Evil cannot touch the faithful under His protection. And we can win this fight, not with any strength of our own. With His.
So, I depart. And I hope that you will join me, Sir. Life is Warhammer 40K already, though so few people see it. The battle is for your soul, just as it is there. The fight is real. And the win is when you fall to evil and justify it in your heart or reject that evil from your heart and embrace the very truth of God, and His Will above all others, even your own.
Either way, whether you join me there or not, I am going there. The dessolation of this platform is complete and I win from the very moment I say, "no". So, I say it and it is done.

I agree, the life of the crew of navy vessels and the ships themselves are really fascinating.
I used to play Battle Fleet Gothic. But like so many side games from GW, it feel to the wayside
Might be my favorite part of the setting. The ships are gorgeous and while they might seem far fetched at first, void warfare in 40k actually got a lot right. There is a surprising amount of depth and scientific thought that went into it. It is certainly far more realistic than anything we see in Star Wars, Star Trek, and a lot of other franchises... despite the aesthetics of massive cathedrals shooting each other in space

I love the attention to detail in the artwork. Back in 30k, there were few reasons to make a warship look like a cathedral and many reasons not to. They have the sleek, more sci-fi appearance we'd expect from the early _secular_ Imperium. Function over form with very few exceptions. Over time various sub-structures like sensor blisters, weapons ports, and conning towers were redecorated to fit with the religious iconography of the Imperium as things moved that way. I really appreciate the aesthetics of both, and that the artists took the time to extrapolate from the ships we have now (which IRL were designed first) to what that same class of ship might have looked like before everyone was yelling "Purge the heretic!"
The Gloriana Battleships were some of the best warships that the Imperium has ever fielded, and make no mistake that the Emperor design these ships to smash the enemies of mankind with such power and conviction that no one will ever question humanity place in the Galaxy, but even though they are no longer being made by the Imperium they still are a reminder of humanity might.

They can't make them anymore. They might be able to throw together a rough approximation; same size, number of weapons, launch decks etc. but it would be inferior in every way. The engine and weapons tech in particular is now way beyond the AdMech with their religious rituals, just maintaining things like the MH and Phalanx is proving more than M41 Humanity can handle

CORRECT. Finally someone mentions it. There is no damned defense against necron vessels in LORE. I love BFGA too, but it's designed to be fair. Necrons are night terrors to face in the lore. You will not win. Lightning arcs are living lightning weapons that completely ignore all known conventional deflector shield systems including void shields.
They seek out all structural weak-points with a frightening instinctive nature as if they are truly alive. In seconds the opposing ship is scrap on the radioactive solar winds.

The fact the Space wolves destroyed a World Engine is indeed valid and acceptable, but only after that nightmarish thing carved a swath through the galaxy, and even then it was done by a small squad. Slight correction: While the Nightfall was part of the rearguard during Thramas, it does survive to see the battle of Terra, with at least one coup taking place on it (see The Painted Count) and acting as a prison for Angron (The Lost and the Damned).

Until they got in the shuttle I was still wondering how this was going to relate to the Vengeful Spirit, before I realized, “oh he’s not talking about *that* Gloriana” 😅
Vengeful spirit is an Abyss Class, not a Gloriana (tho you could argue that Abyss class is essentially just an evolution of Gloriana)
I think only two abyss class were ever made, but at least 18 Glorianas (possibly more because if I remember correctly a few primarchs owned more than one and several glorianas were not directly owned by a legion)
Abyss are thus muuuuch rarer than even the incredibly rare gloriana. But also even scarier
Beautifully done. To have the care shown to the men they're responsible for gets away for the pulpiness that gets tiring with 40K - making them more than just bits of meat that are thrown into wars. Part of the frustration with 40K. If "there's nothing but war" what reason is there to care about any of it? Thank you for continuing to inject some life into a setting that is desperate for it.

You capture the tone of the setting perfectly whilst also carrying alot of heart. You all go out of your way to stay true to the grim dark lore while also creating a stand alone short that is enjoyable by itself. This is not easy, but your beard work clearly shows.
I say this with seriousness, you and your team have given to us stories that are as valuable as the Astartes fan film.

When it comes to 'why no more Gloriana class ships were built' - there's also the same reason as the reason that the Codex Astartes was created: A distribution and diffusion of power.
The Captain of a Gloriana class has, arguably, more power than a General of the Astra Militarum when it comes to pure destructive capability.
Power concentrated in the hands of any one individual was deemed 'dangerous in the extreme' after the Heresy, so why build such reservoirs of power when you can build fleets of smaller ships for the same cost in time and materiel?
Not like Mechanicus still had the knowledge and resources to build more after the Heresy.

Since the inception of the character of Belasarius Cawl I have been hoping that one of the single most significant and ancient evils facing mankind would finally be faced. That being the sleeping dragon below the surface of Mars. It being the C'tan known as the eater of knowledge that is single handedly driving humanity back to the stone age. It pace is obviously slow but significant when you see the effects like the inability to build such things as the Gloriana class ships, certain super weapons or Jet bikes to name a few.
"eater of knowledge"? Nah bro, it's because of the dragon of Mars that the imperium, especially the AdMech was able to create such advanced machines in the first place.
The dragon gives knowledge, imparts it through it's dreams. The only reason why the imperium is technologically stagnating is due to the AdMechs religious dogma, where only STC's are allowed, as such it is heresy to create something new. They'd rather recreate what was, than what can be.
what inability to build jetbikes? ever since the introduction of gary stu cawl the imperium uses hover tech on virtually everything including fucking static turrets and jetbikes are fucking everywhere...

Anyway I fired up my acad software and had a go at drawing schematics, layouts and cross sections of one or two Gloriana battleships, take it from me, they are bloody huge. A best guess estimate is a space going version of the Isle of Wight, only more shootie, much more,and a lot quicker too. As for all the vestiges of statues and other christmas lights gaudiness, well that's just mental. You can't drive one of these about and be sneaky, they are lit up and can be seen almost forever away, and all the escorts and battle barges aren't exactly secretive either. It was fun just doing a few simple line drawings though, hehe whoever does get the chance to put a proper book on this subject will have a whale of a time. Thank you Lord Baldy for that idea.

Tremendous! I love the gothic retro look of Warhammer spaceships. Most sci-fi/fantasy/space opera spaceship designs are very derivative and same-same, but there's something wonderfully distinctive and bonkers about warhammer ships.

I love the Gloriana class so much. Back when I first started working on my homebrew chapter I wanted to give them a Gloriana class as their flagship so much, tried for months to figure out some viable option for it xD Ended up not though, as they are of course rare and immensely powerful it just wouldn't work.

I think the Gloriana-class ships are misunderstood.
Because I feel they are more than just gigantic battleships. They are very much Space Marine Legion flagships. Their sheer size does not seem to be required for the firepower they bring to a void battle. These ships their size means they make better use of the square-cube law, thus they have vastly more space inside than you might think. They are not just over two times as long as regular battleships. These vessels have way more than two times the internal volume.
And that volume is used to support entire Space Marine Legions in their accommodations like training facilities, storage spaces, production facilities or to house other facilities the Legions need or want. And they are designed to support the Legion in this fashion, for campaigns stretching into the years. A quick resupply isn't happening when conquering the Galaxy. The Legions needed a way to carry such vast supplies and facilities with them.
With the breaking down of the Legions, these ships also seem to somewhat lost their purpose. They can easily carry a full Chapter and have plenty of space left over. That made them little more than very large battleships that paradoxically might be more vulnerable to boarding because they are undermanned. I don't think its a coincidence that Guilliman tends to travel with multiple Space Marine Chapters embarked on Macragge's Honour these days, after losing the ship after his resurrection via boarding.
But now that the Legions seem to be returning between the Dark Angles and the Lion, the Blood Angles under Dante, Gulliman and all the Primaris Chapters and who knows what might come next. Well, its also making these massive relics, relevant again. And the situation and enemies the Imperium is now facing, also makes ships of this size, once again required.

I've wondered if one of the Gloriana battleships that weren't assigned to a specific legion were once the flagships of the II or XI legions. If so, perhaps some wonderful clues might be found. Doubtful to be sure but oh the possibilities.
Amazing video as always brother B. And I can’t help but agree with you Warhammer 40k is one of those scri settings that don’t really go into deep detail of their space craft at least the bigger ones. I would love to have a big old book showing all the classes and workings of the imperial navy would be awesome

The Gloriana class are great and hope we get more one off Great Crusade stories with these vessels. Also more of the Dark Angels Primarch the Lion dominating Chaos forces with his the Invincible Reason.

The scene of the buchephalus docking / stationary above mars was one of the first moments i knew i loved this series. Impossibly ridiculously massive. But not dynamic. Continental. Just this thing. Like an idea. Thats what a good ship is. A persona.
