I reckon the majority of windows installers in the UK would do what was done in this video. I am having my windows replaced. Every single one of the guys who came to quote me looked at me like Iâd spoken in Swahili when I mentioned that I want expanding foam tape rather than foam, would be adding airtightness tape (Tescon) around the perimeter and insulating the reveals on top. 100% if they could they would get away with the absolute minimum and cover up whatever they can with trims, then they would. So completely disappointing.
spot on diagnosis i get over 100 calls a year in the winter for this problem I'm so fed up with his this problem
Brilliant đđź
Thanks man. How do you connect the reveal insulation to the wall insulation? Join it up?
Would be good to see the work in action.
Weâve got a new build and are having issues with mould around the windows, particularly in the bedroom for some reason despite trying to get the heating on and opening the window, wondering if this could be the cause, do you know if this is something that could be covered by a new build âwarrantyâ?
Was it foamed and sealed from the outside?
These gaps are so common, don't understand why the windows aren't sealed at point of installation.
Thanks for watching the channel Paula your right its bad workmanship the windows should be properly sealed when fitted
â@@SDRobertsPlasteringmost windows have air vents put in. There was no air vent in that window.
â@@jonmould2946Do air (trickle) vents negate this issue?
Iâm filling mine of now because Iâve had a draft for ages in my main bedroom and canât find it,,whatâs best to seal it with,,decorators caulk or silicone
PU foam, trim back then caulk
Whatâs pu pal
@@explorewithant8263 PU: Polyurethane
Good job, but overinsulating old houses does cause the dreaded condensation, I did all this and more and ended up having to fit a piv unit
My windows are the same, very drafty too
