Since this remote is mfgd by ONN, does it automatically default to be able to control ONN TVs like the Vizio or Samsung Universal Remotes do for their TVs?

I looked up on the manual, and this remote does not have an auto scan function. It only has simple set, learning, and setup by code. Tell me your TV brand and I'll look up the code.

Folks, I do want to mention that this remote can program buttons from an existing remote. For most of you that will be pointless since you likely have lost the original remote, but it's handy if you have too many remotes and just want one.

So I have no issues with the standard programming. Was just hoping you knew if the APP buttons can be programed/changed. I've looked around on the net and haven't really seen anything or know if it's even possible. TV is TCL w/Roku built-in. Anything helps, thanks!

Since the simpleset programming didn't work, you may have to do a code programing. You will need to find the 4 digit code(s) on the back of the manual and follow the programing instructions. If you don't have the manual, tell me the TV brand so I can look it up. Here are the instructions to assign a code to your remote:
(1)Turn on your TV, (2) press the device key you wish to setup (example: TV), (3) hold down the Setup key until the LED under the Device key blinks twice, (4) enter the four digit code, the LED will blink twice on the last digit of the code, (5) now aim the remote towards your device and press the Power key. If the device turns off your remote is ready to use. If not, repeat steps 2-5, with the next code in the list.

Push the TV button, then push the set up button hold the set up button until the TV button flashes put in the code number in the TV will work.

Will this Onn Universal remote control work for my Xbox One X?
I looked it up and found XBOX but it doesn't specify which console. There are 3 codes under XBOX: 4000, 2049, 1272. This remote is copyrighted on the year 2020, and the XBOX One X came out on 2017, so I'm thinking there is a chance that it will work, but I can't guarantee it. Sorry I can't give you a straight answer.
What about Emerson on page 19 there’s 4 digit codes you can do is that to also pair the remote with the tv??
Yes. That is for TV. Is your TV a CRT? I've been having problems programing this remote to older CRT TVs and I haven't yet found a solution. All my newer flat screens work fine, it's just my older TV that's the issue.
All I know is that the tv is a Emerson brand it’s not a smart tv
@@undeadred529 You should try those codes. If they don't work, it will likely be because the TV is too old. I tried every single code (all 5 four digit codes) on my old Quasar TV and none work. I tried them all twice. Still, none work. The one thing that this Universal Remote can do is copy codes from an original remote. This is generally for people that have too many remotes and want to have only one. Most people, unfortunately, have lost the original remote and are stuck trying to figure out codes. Until the FCC intervenes, we are stuck with lost remotes and universal remotes that cannot be paired easily or at all.

That means you used a code that partially works. Try other codes until you find a better one. You should be able to change the channels.

You can program a cable box using the same process but assigning them to the other buttons like "stream" or "STB". There's no way to control specific apps with this remote that I'm aware of.

Does it work for non smart tvs?

If you want to use a remote that has already been programmed for another TV, just program it as if it was a new remote. Every time your program the remote, the old code will be deleted and the new code will be saved.

I don't understand why these remotes don't have codes for other ONN devices. It's an ONN remote. Why aren't there any codes to control other ONN devices? It makes no sense.
You can do a manual programing for ONN devices though. Here are the codes and instructions:

You are likely using a code with very limited functionality. I would recommend you try different codes until you find one that works well. That input button is one of the hardest to get working and certainly an essential button.

Can you tell me the code for insignia fire tv
There is no code specifically for Insignia Fire TV, but the codes for Insignia TVs in general are: 2049, 1780, 4487, 3227, 1564, 1641, 2184, 1892, 1423, 1660, 1963, 1463. You will have to try them all. Usually, two or three codes will work but one of them will actually control everything. Another option is to go on eBay and buy a used original remote.

I found codes for Onn and Roku separately. Onn: 4398, 1709, 3024, 3078, 5118, 1756, 5438. Roku: 4398. The two brands have in common the 4398 code. So I'm assuming that is the correct code.

I couldn't include those because the print was too tiny for my old phone. I looked it up in the manual, and Onn Roku TV is not listed, although Onn TV and Roku are found separately. Here are the codes for each:
Onn TV: 4398, 1709, 3024, 3078, 5118, 1756, 5438.
Roku TV: 4398, 3061 (stream).
My best guess would be the code 4398 because this code is shared by both the Roku brand and the Onn brand. You should try this code first.

Most likely you have an incomplete code. Try different codes until you find the best one.
