  • In this video, I’ll introduce you to three fascinating kiwi varieties thriving in my UK garden. Let’s explore each one:
Orange or Silver Vine Kiwi (Actinidia Polygama): Acquired in March 2024, this vigorous vine is ready to take off. It’s positioned on an obelisk. As a polygamous species, it bears both male and female fertile flowers on the same plant, ensuring efficient pollination.
Winter hardy and tolerant of temperatures as low as -15°C, it promises exciting fruiting potential.
Kiwi Berry (Actinidia Arguta Issai): Purchased in 2019, this parthenocarpic variety sets fruit without cross-pollination from a male plant. Despite facing challenges like fungal attacks and heat burn, it’s now flourishing on an obelisk, with fruitlets developing.
‘Jenny’ Kiwi (Actinidia Deliciosa): My ‘Jenny’ kiwi, bought in April 2018, thrives on our south-facing wall. Being self-fertile, it doesn’t need a separate male plant for pollination.
Having a nearby male plant can enhance fruit production, though it’s doing well on its own.
Join me as we explore these remarkable kiwi varieties and their unique characteristics! 🌿🥝📹
