In Central Pennsylvania, I visited an Al Paca Farm and I asked the Farmer what in the world were the "plastic water bottles with pennies?" He said the sunlight reflects off of the coins and that deters the flies. He places them in the fenced in area every 10 feet or so. Each bottle was filled just below the neck, and he had 3-4 pennies on each bottom. He said " I know you think I'm nuts, but it works."

I’m in Australia too I pack my fruit and vegetables in foil they last for a few months make sure they a dry don’t wash until you need to use them.
Avocado put them in a container with water place the lid and put them in the fridge I buy a lot of avocado when there in special so I preserve them with water the firmer they are the longer they last I’ve had mine in the fridge for 5 weeks still firm. The unused other half has been in the fridge for 2 weeks it hasn’t gone black still green but just tinge of discoloration.
It lowers cholesterol if eaten first thing in the morning so I buy a lot of them for other purposes too. Even if the avocado goes out of color you can make avocado oil but needs to be really ripe with no green

I love both tricks. Never heard about bag of water with aluminum balls🤓 To get rid of little banana flies: fill an empty jam glass with a little vinegar and 1 drop of liquid soap. Put plastic/ aluminum over top, then an elastic band around. Make a tiny hole in plastic/ aluminum foil. Flies seek in - and drown. (from Denmark).

I placed 9 clear plastic cups around the house. Some with cheap vinegar and some with real fruit vinegar and a few drops of liquid soap. Clear plastic covers, some with less holes and some with gaping holes.
Exactly same thing happened what Beverley Slade has stated.
First year killed quite a few. Next year a failure. The house smelled of vinegar.
Now occasionally I use an electronic zapper, But only indoors, PLEASE do not use Electronic Zappers outdoors to kill mosquitoes. You’re going to kill all the insects that are essential to nature and not mosquitoes. They don’t get attracted to the UV light, they go after the tiny amount of Carbon Dioxide gas emitted by humans and warm blooded animals.

Hi, I will definitely use these tips, thank you for uploading them.
I have a cleaning tip: to shorten cleaning the top of your kitchen cupboards, clean them thoroughly with hot soapy water, or your usual go to cleaning solution. Once you are happy with the clean, Do Not Dry Off (leave it slightly damp) Instead put 'Cling film/clear plastic wrap over the surface as it will stick to the damp surface.
Then next time you need to clean them, just carefully remove the cling film/clear plastic wrap so no dust falls off, then put it in the bin ❤
Now all you have to do is lightly dampen the surface and repeat. Finished in half the time
    Enjoy
    Hugs and stuff from UK

The bag of water 'trick' really works, even without the tinfoil. Been doing it every summer for years near open doors, outside. I learned about it many years ago on a Rick Steves Travel Tour of Portugal. It has to do with the atmospheric pressure & humidity that flying insects can detect. They avoid having water above them, as a drop of water can wipe them out. Also, the old inverted plastic popbottle wasp trap works well ... but I will add soap next time, thanks for the explanation. Science!

I still don't know... Though I'm no butcher, myself, I do come from a third generation of butchers: my girlfriend is also a second generation butcher herself. And without going down to the local cemetery (that's a joke, people's). This little trick is one we haven't heard of. So I was, and still am, a little sceptical about an old Indian wives tale, and that's kind of like after I t-rafed.
But what you say about the 🪰 not like being under water, and what not. And unless they've got some form a genetic memory, I have no idea how they'd even come to such a conclusion. Still, what you say almost rings true. So, from DownUnder, I'll give it a crack.

      @shawnvofficial Před rokem

This doesn't work at all, sorry. It's been tested and proven wrong many times, by many average people and by scientific studies. Even myth busters did an episode on it. Bags of water has no effect on any flying insects. Either something else is getting rid of your flys, or you simply think there's less of them because your paying more attention after hanging the bags.
Unrelated, but pissing on a jelly fish sting will make the pain worse, and if you have any breaks in your skin you can potentially get an infection. I just figured if y'all actually believe a bag of water can scare bugs, then you probably believe all kinds of nonsense. And if flies can get "taken out" by a single drop, then you wouldn't see a fly for weeks after it rains, this again, is simply not true in the slightest. Quit listening to advice your grandma gave you and read a book or something

I'm not sure it's to do with the flies not wanting to fly under a bag of water incase a drop land on it lol i heard it's something to do with the tinfoil emitting an illusion of a bigger predator with big eyes from the reflection in the water and tinfoil so they don't go near

*I can say the zip lock in water works extremely well* - Note that for the freezer, you need to dry off the outside of the bag, otherwise it will freeze to other items and tear the bag when moved, breaking the air seal. I am single and don't consume a lot of anything quickly, and I hate small stops at the grocery - I use it (or in some cases just suck the air out of the ziplock) to extend bread buns in the cupboard for several weeks without getting stale or moldy, chopped lettuce in the fridge to last for several weeks, I haven't found the limit for meats and buns in the freezer.

For the flies that aren't afraid of bags of water with foil balls...
Take any container that holds liquid that you don't mind throwing away after it fills up with dead flies.
Pour your left over pop that you didn't finish into a clear (so you can see the dead flies) plastic cup or bowl etc.
Add a few drops of dish soap to the liquid. The sugary liquid attracts the flies for a drink. The soap breaks the surface tension of the liquid so when the flies come for a drink, they can't land on it without being trapped in it and drowning.
    Works for hornets too.
When the container gets full of dead flies, throw the whole thing out and start over.
This isn't going to create a fly free zone. It's just gonna kill a bunch of them and reduce the population.
Every female fly that drowns equals hundreds of flies not being born.
To stop the hornets, you will have to follow them to their nest and destroy it.
The sweet water and soap will only kill some of them.
Best fly killer is dairy barn spray. Spray some on your door frame and screen. That repels them for awhile. Follow safety directions on can.
Best prevention is to eliminate any manure or other animal feces, dead animals, etc, that they lay their eggs on.
Even cat shit will attract them. Get rid of anything that smells bad. Cuz that's what smells good to a fly.
Try to control the incoming flies when spring comes. If they breed, you will have tens of thousands more.
All they need is I little pile of your pets shit, or a dead mouse, and they can lay thousands of eggs on it.
Keep your living zone as clean as possible.

I prefer to use dor and window net , i dont like bowls with drowning insects...
Also, be careful with the "barn spray". In our country we dont get to buy the most effective ones, because they content stuff that hurt nature . And it hurt the bees, because of the sideeffect on plants . It can affect the water as well. That kind of chemichal should be avoided.
Btw,i never kill spiders. They are very welcome in my house . They eat mites, flies and insect one dont want.
Be also careful with fruit ,to avvoid fruitflies.
And plese dont kill a bee! We need them all . Every single one of them.

I had seen the water bags in New Orleans 15 years ago. I asked my coworker, a New Orleans native "What's up with the bags." They were hanging on the outside of a restaurant that had sidewalk dining. He told me that it scares the flies away..... As for the vacuum sealed carrots, this is how i marinate meats. The vacuum seal allows for the flavors of the marinade to be better absorbed by the meat.

Pure genius and I know this will work because of the peculiar nature of flies vision it completely throws them. Such a good idea and then the one to expell air from a zip bag of veg is really clever too as i thought you had to suck out the air with a drinking straw but the water does the same job - so well thought out. Greetings from SW England.

Aluminum is the only metal that isn’t naturally found in the human body (for instance, it serves as no beneficial purpose like iron would). But if you cook with it, wrap your food in it, or even use aluminum cookware or flatware, it can get into your body. It can cause Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s, kidney disease, or all kinds of issues.
Be careful. Scientists use aluminum to help deliver vaccines through your body.
Aluminum is also found in grooming products such as deodorant.
