Hey, I think you should definitely do a video about connecting dj equipment. Not for a specific controller but generally about how to connect sound systems, cdj’s, mixers, and all the cable types and what all the different cables do.

One thing to add: Rekordbox Key Analysis sucks big time! Make sure that when you import a mp3 with pre rekorded key (like from Beatport or Taxsource) into your collection, that you turn OFF the key analysis, otherwise it will be overwritten with what rekordbox thinks most Techno Tracks are written in...Dm, Fm, Am...another costly alternative: Mixed in Key, to my knowledge the best Key Analysis Programm out there.

Just analyze the tracks again after you select aplhanumeric in prefences

All my tracks are WAV files, I tried putting it on the settings you said, and when it analyses the tracks, the key information is still missing. The column is there, but nothing in it. Is there a way to get the key info for WAV files?

Works here...just go into the rekordbox settings in the view and analysis and change them....it should work ;-)

Hi Crossfader Team, I also analyse my tracks with mixedinkey and have the information about energy and key in the comments field. This way I can see that very often the key detection from mik and rb differ. Do you know which detection is the better one?
Rekordbox Key Analysis is really bad imo. Ive analyzed tracks I bought from Beatport and in over 50% of the cases, the keys were off (sometimes by a lot!). I am of course assuming that Beatports key is the correct one.
As far as we're aware mixed in key is a much better analysis, however it's worth noting for any other readers/viewers this is a paid for software.
I hope everyone can help me. For exemple, when I play a sound with a 9A key, only the another songst with 9A key are green marked. Not another keys 😵
But it doesn't take into consideration change in key due to tempo change, does it?

is mixing in key only required for mixing with melodies? Like if you mix outro with intro do you need to watch the keys?
SpyKnife I also have the same question
I find it extremely tough to mix two seperate and dominant melodies and they just sync up or are in tune very seldomly...even if the keys match. So I would rather trust me ears on that one and see if the combination of the two melodies sounds "natural" or not. A program analysis of frequencies used will only get you so far I think :)
I usually mix non-melodic, more minimalistic Techno and find that mixing in key is still providing a great first initial overview of what could possibly sound well with the current track. What helped me most though, was to set up my very own label system. Rekordbox has a nice feature that lets you create and tag categories on tracks, like I have Dark/Progressive/Happy/Chill/Flying/AufdieFresse etc.
Like the two tracks can have the same BPM and Key, but will still sound off because the mood or athmosphere is not working together. Ok wrote a lot, hope it helped a bit! Good luck with dem flawless transitions ;)

Mine does not highlight in green the other tracks to mix in key only the 2 tracks playing no more and it's just the name of the song that highlights not a green box in the key display like yours shows

Hello! I managed to make rekordbox to show me the keys, but it won’t do it on the songs I already loaded in the program, it just show me the keys on the new tracks I load on it. I tried by dragging the songs from the folder to the program jut wouldn’t work, and I don’t wanna delete them all to load them again as I might loose my cue points?

I’m currently using soundcloud + on Rekordbox but most of my music doesn’t show the keys. Even after following this video. Do I need a software or is this a problem with soundcloud ??

At 3:15 you show keys that match in green, this done not happen on my DDJ rr with rekordbox
I finally figured this out, you have to hit the master button on the collection window, where the tracks are located.
Mines not appearing and when I right click it just swaps my songs around in order help please !

Is this only for performance mode? I don't see any of these features in export mode
This also works in export mode. The settings and buttons should be in the same place as in the video. If not make sure you've updated to the latest version of Rekordbox.
@@Crossfader are you sure that the Key Sync option is available in the export mode? I have just updated recordbox to the latest version (6.4.2) and I see it only in the performance mode

Hey. In all fairness I’m not very clued up with virtual DJ. It’s something I never used much personally and feel there are probably other people better suited to creating tutorials with it.
How do you use Camelot key notation in Rekordbox?
It's the same as serato.
For example, 5A will mix with 5B. You can also mix with a number either side, for example 5A with 4A or 6A. Easy.
I know that. What I don't know is how to make Rekordbox analyze my tracks and tag them with the Camelot key notation.

i just found out today that this doesnt show up on itunes playlists so make a rekordbox smart playlist or playlist and just add whatever from your collection to the rekordbox play list and it should show up right by the search bar in rekordbox

Hi, vids really helpful, however my problem here is that I'm not getting any highlight for the relevant key matches... can you shed any light on my problem here ? Preferences are set as instructed and key match is on with master deck selected... still I cant get those highlighted boxes.
Done shows with great turnout and support with feedback, now I'm learning the professional aspects to the game and this is the basic. Any guidance on building my knowledge is greatly appreciated.

How to analyse key in rekordbox without loosing saved data from your tracks:
Select all music files in collection cntrl+ a
Right hand click and Make sure analysis lock is switched off on all tracks
Right hand click again and click analyze tracks, in the settings that pop up, be sure to untick bpm and phrase boxes leaving key analysis option the only box that is selected, click ok and proceed.
