I am a long haul truck driver and everytime my route takes me through that area in TX, I ALWAYS stop and eat there. I can't physically do the challenge, but I always order the Riley. They are always cooked perfect and the flavor is off the chain.

@@Malepical last year I drove though Amarillo on a road trip from Vegas to the east coast. I have heard about this steak place even at the time when I am still lived in Germany.... so 15 years later, I just drove by there and my wife and I wanted to eat something. I wasn't actually super hungry, but when I watched all those other people there fail to eat that steak, I thought I can do better than that. So even when sitting on a stage to eat dinner isn't really my thing I gave it a try. The result was I got a free Tshirt, a paper with my name on and didn't have to pay for my food because I ate it all under 1 hour. lol.
For sure I am not a competitive eater, but I do a lot of sports and just love food. So with all those buffets here in Vegas I got some practice with the result that I can eat more than most people of my size can do. However, it is crazy to see how fast some people can eat this steak. For me this was just a once in a lifetime thing to do, next time when I will be there I would just order a steak to really enjoy it instead of eating it as quickly as possible.

The steak you have never seen before looks like a butterflied tomahawk. I believe they do this to reduce the cook time and have it cook more evenly. If they left it thick I don’t think the grill would cook the inside enough before burning the outside (unless you like your steak cooked black and blue) They would have to put it in an oven after searing the outside.
Blue and seared is the only way!💪💯
But it still wasn't cooked medium well it was medium almost medium rare

I was just there last week I tried the 72 oz steak , I lost 😁 but its ok . I tried it for fun . I never seen a steak that big .

Welcome to my home State Raina! The Barbique and steaks in texas are worth it. Be safe tho there are a lot of racist and rude people here but not all of us are like that. Mostly the older generation and some of there offspring. But love ya have fun.
