No decent police officer would have arrested Tommy Robinson for deploying a couple of slaps to a male identified by his daughter for committing a sexual assault against her. There are definite ways of 'boxing' around scenario's like that and any decent copper will apply common sense and be pragmatic. I served in the job for just under 17 years, and I am appalled by the failure of the police to detain THREE males on suspicion of Conspiracy To Commit Sexual Assault. All three should have been detained. their mobile phones confiscated for examination, and their houses subject to thorough search after arrest- Section 18 Search. The police missed the opportunity to uncover a paedophile ring- disgraceful.
Tommy's use of force could easily have been dealt with and justified. When he confronted the three males, the perpetrator made verbal threats to Tommy that he and his mates were going to give him a good hiding. Fearing for his own personal safety and that he was danger of being subject to unlawful violence, Tommy used a pre-emptive strike- under English Common Law- Right To Self-Defence- which goes back to medieval times, and delivered a flat palm strike to the face of the male who was verbally threatening him. He then took him to the floor and restrained him until the police arrived at scene. No decent police officer would have an issue with it.
EG A colleague I regularly worked with was called out to a report of a burglary, the offender had been detained on scene by the victim. On arrival, the detained male had been subject to a good hiding, the 'victim' was an accomplished kick boxer. He caught the well known local burglar and smack head turning his flat over, and he gave him a good hiding. The offender was known for actually being quite violent- but he was no match from Mr 'W'- most smack heads are not violent because they are strung out most of the time. After knocking the vermin out, the guy grabbed him by the heels and dragged him down several flights of steps within the block of flats. So, the bobby I knew arrived on scene, locked up the bloke who had been mashed, obtained brief circumstances from the victim, prior to taking the 'suspect' into custody. He then returned the flat to speak to the victim. Initially, the bloke thought he was going to be arrested for giving the guy a thorough hiding. The bobby said to him, "Now, let me get this straight, you came home to your flat, saw the door open and heard noises inside? When you entered, you recognised 'X' and realised he had broken into your property? He challenged him and told him to get out, at which point, he ran at you and tried to headbutt you. You were then compelled to use you boxing skills to defend yourself, which was how the male sustained some facial injuries........" That's how the victim's MG11 statement was written up, and he was never accused of assaulting that oxygen thief burgling scrote. It's called, 'Practical Policing.'

This is a stitch up on TR by the State. Instead of dealing with it one way - it would have a Trial by Jury, so they went another way & this made it one Magistrate sitting in Judgement. It took 3 hours for the Police Officer/s to arrive @ the Center Parcs. They were more interested in trying to provoke TR to react so he could be arrested. A few weeks after this incident TR stopped 3 yobs from harrassing 2 OAPs in Hitchin, London. By chance the yobs were coloured lads. One armed with a knife. In seconds uniformed Police Officers were on the scene. [were they actually following TR?]. They were more interested in trying to provoke TR so they could arrest him, as opposed to the 3 yobs - all involved in drug dealing & violent crimes. TR supposed to be up at Luton Court in mid-May due to this Virus Crisis. Wonder what form "British Justice" we'll see this time?

There was a case in America where a father caught a guy molesting his child. The father absolutely leathered the guy. Gave him an hell of a beating.
When the local sherriff commented on it he said the father just did what any good father would do. No charges were made against him.

The police who dealt with Robison aided and abetted the commission of the assault on his daughter. There is no statute of limitation on this offence. If Robison was acting using his any persons powers of arrests to detain a person for an indictable offence, which sexual assault is under SOA 2003 , and force was used to affect this arrest, then he acted lawfully and the use of force justified if it can be shown that it was proportionate and necessary to affect the said arrest and to protect a vulnerable person (which his daughter would be) . The officers who arrested breached their duties set out under the police Act. He should go after the individual officers who investigated him.
