Played Space Zzap for the first time at an Arcade Club in the UK about 3 years ago and was absolutely hooked. Completely underrated and little known gem.
Yeah it's reallllly fun :) Thanks for watching!
Played the same machine, it's great fun. Didn't see it there the other day though sadly!
Couple of things.. the "u" isn't a u, it's the greek letter Mu (as in music), and stands for micro, which in the case of 22 micro farad (instead of 22 U-F). It's interesting, because you don't claim to be an expert, and it shows by the way you mispronounce some things, or flat out say, "I don't know" or "I think this is right", but, at the same time, you're amazingly good at troubleshooting and fixing these units. I'm not sure if you're self taught, or what, but in any case you're really good at it. I really enjoy the channel and watching you troubleshoot these units back to life. I was a kid when all these games came out and the one thing I noticed about this machine is that it appears to be using the same sound board as Gorf for sure as the sounds are identical. I honestly don't recall this game either. You seemed to like it, but it honestly looked pretty lame to me...lol.
Used to play this back in the day, indeed. It helps to partner up, one person to fire and one person to switch guns. They probably should have just made the gun placement buttons double as fire buttons.
At least you get a good workout playing it :)
That TV has CRT burn-in. Which makes sense given the explosions.
It happens... .
Great video again
Thanks Arcade Crusaders, we loved this game!
Such a cool looking game!
Yeah it had a great design.
i do not know if someone has mentioned it but "u f" on caps actually is micro-farad i.e 200uf = 200 micro farad capacitor...
love your repair videos!!
for those that want to understand the basic function of a cap the best example is a camera flash unit...
2 1.5v batteries charge up a 50v cap ..then when you press the flash button 50v is released to the flash..then the cap will need to recharge..sometimes you will hear a whining sound while the cap is recharging..
a warning is that caps can stay charged for a while after power is removed from a unit so you can get bit by them if you touch the + and ground...
Thanks Mickey Mouse Park, we'll see you on the next one!
Interesting to hear your diagnostic thought pattern thinking out loud and the click of your mental clock. Nice job! Keep making videos!
Thanks Msquared, see you on the next one :)
Joe's Classic Video Games, now that we have established that Joe is your brother, who are you? I think it would be interested for you guys to make a video on the history of the store. Maybe everyone would not want to be on the video, but some externals would be nice and the different types games, consoles and cabinets that your have for sale - a virtual walk through. As always thanks for sharing, I have learned a considerably substantial amount of arcade knowledge to get my original Pac-Man converted to Ms. Pac-Man cabaret cabinet and full size Zaxxon cabinet repaired. Now if I could just find a source for a flight control stick for the Zaxxon machine. Any suggestions? I completed the usual google searches. Please let me know. It looks silly with a joystick. Thanks for being there. Sincerely, Msquared
AWESOME RON Thanks for bringing it back to life can't wait to get it 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
You used his real name. Oh my ! Don't tell anyone.
No problem Oscar, it's on the way :)
Awesome early 80s game a friend and I used to play. My drummer friend did the fire button and I done directionals.
Cool game! Nice job Joe.
Thanks Bob, we appreciate it.
Wow! I’ve been playing this at my local arcade recently and was just going to look around for one and saw you posted this the same day!
There you go, it probably means you're supposed to buy one. This one already sold though :)
You are pretty good at the animation I've never seen that game it looks pretty fun
Thanks Randy!
That's pretty cool on this end it looks like it's digital space . Explosions in space
Yeah it filmed pretty good only thing was you can't see the middle part is a bunch of different contrasts on the video it just looks 1 color
Great game, love mine!
Yeah it really is, easy to pick up too.
That looks like its a fun game.
Very fun :)
oi oi thanks joe :) was waiting on this 1,never seen 1 of these ..and i been around
Pretty Cool Stuff!
You have resurrected another game room myth. Congratulations you're better than dr. Frankenstein!
Well we try.
My monitor does the same flash also I have seen three others do also.
I just wanted to be sure :) They did the same thing on Star Wars, the screen goes crazy on purpose when the Death Star blows up :)
cool arcade!
Thank you Tomy Power!
@@LyonsArcade you're welcome!
i want a space zap so so badly
Joe could you build a Mortal Kombat 11 arcade cabinet?
We could but we typically don't do stuff like that. I'm sure somebody will though :)
@@LyonsArcade do it for yourself, it would be awesome 😎
Maybe rejuvenating fixes the monitor...
Only thing I've ever been able to fix with a rejuvenator is if it's dim, but sometimes it'll fade back later too so we try not to rejuvenate if we can help it :)
lol had one of those
It's pretty fun :)
@@LyonsArcade, i had a lot of fun with it, but i had to keep re seating those cards like they were NES cartridges lol.
That's horrible how the explosion happened!
I know, it's scary :)
Oh, you mean when the sound board blew up, yeah it was pretty wild!
Never seen this game in my area cool but not yet cup of tea
Sounds a lot like Gorf.
I created a remake some time ago for Android.
It's completely free, you can download it here:

Ready Player One
Very cool, thanks PsyLabs!
Uf is microfarads pf picofarads
When I mention UF, I say UF for short (so strange people keep correcting me on that, lol)
@@LyonsArcade sorry wasnt sure if you knew what it meant your tone kinda led me to believe that sorry
I remember playing this game when it was released. This was when all the pinball arcades were changing over to video games. All the em pinball machines were being sold off for $100.00 $150.00 bucks. The long row of pins were a short lineup of solid state games.
I came around later on but our first game we ever got, we bought right off the floor of the local arcade for $80 bucks! Some of the places would just sell them off when they got old, good times.
@@LyonsArcade Yeah Good Times:0)
