We used these when I was in military. Like you said bulky but brilliant. Like stupid simple and durable. And tip for those rubber bands... After you rolled that up put the roll between your knees. Thats how you get your both hands free. The whole process take less than a minute!
Thanks for the tip, this is the best mat. I'm still testing this mat in the winter months just to see if I can use the mat without any other insulation under it.😎
Good video. I don't know when these sleeping pads were first used. But we had those in use in 2003-2004 when I was in the military service. I have slept on such a sleeping pad for a total of many months. Assault rifles have been disassembled and assembled on top of it countless times, and it was also used on the shooting range. The R-value is 2. Savota's shorts video showed that information
Thanks for the R-value information. This mat is awesome!😎
I was in army in -98, and we had these already well used. So they might be older than i am.
@@Turmootti Did not have them in -82 so they came much later lol
You’re pretty much doing it right. You use that in addition to your sleeping pad (whether inflatable or not; and yes- it goes a long way in preventing puncturing) You need the air in an air mattress to insulate you from the cold on the ground. It’s like a two part combo. Great to see you reviewing it and it’s decently priced to boot!
You dont really need any other than that and a sleeping bag.
Edit. You can use the pine branches or whatever you call that in english as a layer between you and the ground but thats pretty much it.
Thanks for the information. Still testing other options. The mat is working great.😀
@@MrBounce98 A browse bed. Basically layers spruce or pine boughs (branches) in a fashion to layer up off the ground.
That is really amazing!
It really looks like quality.
Thanks for sharing, Craig.
Yes very happy with the savotta mat
Great review!
Thanks for watching!😎
Hi, thank you for the video, I have used the same Mat for years in temp. +9 to -1°C (so three seasons nights) with no issue of cold from the bottom. Sometimes, I add some grass or something like that under it, but it is not necessary. Those wings are great improvements, I don´t need anything under me to keep out moisture. When packing out, I tie it up much more than you, so it is not as bulky but I have to give it some time (and weight to sides) to make it straight again. Have a great time:-) FM
Thanks for sharing your information on the temperatures you used your mat at. This mat is my favorite 😎
You’re not homeless now, are you? 26 nights! That’s about how long ago you started posting these “stealth camping” videos 😂 glad it’s working for you
I thought home is where you stay that night. But the mat is working great. 😀
Besitze sie auch , bietet mir Sicherheit
Beste Matte für extrem Camping
Yes agree it's my favorite mat for extreme camping. I'm still testing it in the winter to see if I need any other insulation under it.😎
Few snaps would make rolling it whole lot easier.
Yes great idea! Thanks for watching 😎
Gave up. You need a mic.
Yes you are correct I do need a mic.😎
Give up English.
I've actually slept on this mat for two months straight, now I can't sleep on a normal bed 😂
It's my favorite mat for camping and very durable.😎
Savotta mat is a normal bed
He appears to be a homeless dood so I’m guessing 26 nights in a row?!
Not homeless! Home is where ever you camp.😎
