This guy...is one of the biggest 'what IF' stories, because he had so much talent and focus at such a young age which was taken away from the world by a car accident. He is really a boxing tragedy, sometimes we wonder what boxing would have been like had he lived longer to show his full potential. At least he left us many paintings of his brilliance, with that Nelson fight being his true masterpiece.
RIP Sanchez, the GOAT of Mexican boxing

One thing I absolutely can’t get over with these older fighters is how often they fought. In an era of 15 round fights, they fought the whole 15 rounds and then took another fight 2-3 months later. Most of the guys fought 4 times a year at the very least, sometimes even 5-6 times a year, even as a champion. That would be absolutely unheard of today. Some fighters can go 2-3 years between fights

Truly one of the greatest of all time. Thank you, Rich, for highlighting the career of this great fighter. The argument with Sanchez was that he's over-rated by many because he died before he began to decline; and while I would say there is possibly some truth to that, I would also say we saw enough of him to recognize what he was and to know he should be mentioned among those who carry the mantle of the sport. Countless boxers have competed in this sport in its modern form; but only a precious few embody true greatness.
Sanchez was one of those few.

He was always in premiere shape and basically beat his opponents up. Keep them coming Rich, I really enjoy your channel!

10/10! Outstanding. One of the greatest fighters of all time. The first Sanchez fight I watched was the first one against Little Red, Then the rematch, Laporte, Pat Ford, Bazooka Gomez was a brutal surprise -- I really felt like Gomez was a real threat but he was annihilated. I remember thinking that the Nelson kid did a great job but didn't see any great future for him, he just caught Sanchez by surprise as a late replacement......😆Sanchez turned a casual fan friend of mine into a diehard and we both watched all of him that we could and were both shocked and truly saddened by his death. I remember a TV spot where he said he would retire, become a Doctor and help to build medical clinics for the underprivileged. Sometimes the good really do die young. Thatnks for this one, fantastic job, fantastic subject.🥊

Sanchez is like the James Dean of boxing . A lot of his legend is built on “ what might have been” I tend not to rate him as highly as some other fans. He looked spectacular against aggressive sluggers but struggled quite a bit against cuties. He also didn’t beat the other top guy in his division at the exact same time. That would be Eusebio Pedroza, who was no gimme for anyone including Sanchez . Pedroza vs Sanchez was a Superfight which never happened .
