I've never tried this range before, but have been tempted often. The price has always put me off in the past, but I will definitely try something now 🙂
So glad you've been asked to look at this range. Yes it's a little more expensive than others but the quality is great. I'd definitely recommend you trying the chicken tikka. The main factory that produces these and ships them to the supermarket is just up the road from us in Wells Somerset 👍
The Lasagna is like homemade. The cottage pie, moussaka are also good. Some are available for one. As you say expensive but Gold Standard ready meals. Oh the tikka masala and korma are also worth a try.
Great video mate, love seeing a variety of different things from different shops, the charlie bighams range is delicious but these videos are great for people who wouldn't normally try something like that
I've got an Indian food business and a few years ago I was going to partner up with a bigwig in the business and create a premium brand offering authentic desi Indian cuisine, not British Indian. We took the Bingham meals as our benchmark (premium) and dissected their packaging, branding, and product. What we learnt was that branding is everything and their packaging was spot on as very little plastic and a lovely wooden box so biodegradable. Their Tikka Masala was pretty good as well but wasn't a touch on ours. We gave up on the idea though as we're both located in Norfolk and there weren't enough high-end farm shops, food halls, and deli's to support us during the first few years. Anyway, I'm rambling, Binghams are expensive and the portions are tiny. But the food is premium and about as good as ya gonna get for a ready meal.
We had the Charlie Bingham chicken tikka masala & rice tonight. It was really tasty. Not cheap at £7.75, but it served two. We also got the bhaji chicken chunks from Iceland to accompany it and they were lovely too 🙂
@@danimayb yes, they are very expensive for the portion size and they're not something I'd buy on a regular basis. Perhaps if they're ever on offer I might be tempted again. Lately though I've been buying the butter chicken from Costco. It's £8, but there's a generous four portions that could be stretched to five or six I would say. They also do a jalfrezi if you like things a bit spicier. The butter chicken is as good as anything I've had from an Indian takeaway. I make my own rice to go with it so it's a much cheaper alternative to getting a takeaway, but tastes just as nice. I've got three portions in my freezer from the last time I bought it 🙂
Quality meals not your normal ready meals restaurants quality Made with quality ingredients can't get enough of them worth paying the extra money over supermarkets finest
The people I work for occasionally send me to another of their depots, in a small town about 12 miles from our main base. This particular town has a fancy artisan bakery, which isn't exactly cheap but always seems busy. In this bakery they employ a chef to prepare meals in foil trays. There are around a dozen or so from which to choose, including the likes of beef casserole in red wine, duck in orange sauce, and lasagna, not unlike the one tested here. They are priced at around £4.50 ish. I've tried several of these dishes, and you do need to add your own potatoes and veg, if that's your thing. But the lasagna is the best I have ever tasted. Really thick sauce. And when you cut into it you can clearly see the layers of pasta and minced beef.... Absolute heaven....
Looks blooming lovely Gareth, hot to admit just got home and I'm having lasagna and chips too but mine is not with meat. But looks fab, I think the price is alot for what you get. However, I made my veggie lasagna and a beef one for me the hubby and both kids for a fiver and it's enough for 2 meals!
We've had a few of Charlie Bighams meals. They are normally £4.75 for one or £7.75 for two which really is expensive for what you get. My favourite was their fish pie and hubby's was the cottage pie but the cost is prohibitive on a pension.
100% with you on this Gareth, not a lot of meat in it. I, like you like to see layered meat, if there was more meat in it, might have been worth £4. The chips look fantastic, just like real home made chips. Thanks for sharing pal, catch you in a bit.
It is an expensive range of food but I've eaten quite of few in the range and they are consistently really nice. Try the cottage pie, out of this world it is. So yeah, daft expensive but as a treat every now and again I buy one. I do question my sanity when I do though!
Another great review just come across your channel the other day .spot on you have me in stitches really tasty but4 quid wife will love that but 4 quid 🤣love it keep up the good work .going to Iceland tomorrow to try those chicken balls
All the Charlie Bingham procucts are good especially the curries, some of them are £7 but I only ever buy when they are on the "foosty shelf" (sell by date fast approaching) and you can pick them up for half this, sometimes less. Believe it or not Waitrose are actually easier than Tesco to pick these up cheap if you keep an eye on the foosty shelf.
I thought it looked good. I would try it 100%. Just to see how it is. I agree not much meat in it. I normally get Morrisons the best which is very good. Well done again Gareth 👍
Just found you and have subscribed. I live in Cyprus so we don't have Iceland BUT I did get a lasagne (chilled not frozen) from Lidl and it was really tasty also a very good size - plenty for 2 adults. Hello mate I've been watching you for a week and after this review I've subscribed, you have just made my mind up as i nearly always shop at tesco's and keep thinking about buying this lasagna but I've been put off by the price, I've got a delivery coming on Thursday so hopefully it will be nice as it definitely looks it, stay safe up there mate and 🍻🙏🙏🙏

I love this range 😍 so beautiful and that was a meal for one 😍 and do meal for 2 people too and so worth every penny ❤ ever better if u find at a reduced price
Tried a few of cb meals and yet to find one I don’t like. Even dishes I would normally not eat. The tikka masala is def a family favourite now. Far better than our local take away which would cost far more.
Spanish chicken and chorizo with potatoes is the best IMO from Charlie. Expensive, but as good as you would get in a restaurant for a fifth of the price.
I tried that lasagne once before (it was a Xmas present), it was very nice, but I've had better. I can definitely recommend the Charlie Bigham's Cottage Pie. Sooo tasty.
looks good but jeez the price, it's up at £6 for that one now from Tesco, I know they're cheap but you could get 8 of the Hearty Food Co lasagne's for the price of one of these, it's nuts
The packaging is to make it easy for recycling. Worth mentioning ICELAND are moving away form non recyclable plastic containers so expect to see similar packaging to Charlie Bingham's in coming years.
I'm going through your lasagne reviews just now to decipher which is best. I bought the Charlie Bigham one a lot the large size. It is expensive but sometimes it goes on offer. It says serves two. But I'll eat the large one myself with a garlic baguette lol. Someone I know said she thought the Tesco finest ones where better. I've not tried the finest bit my brother who's tried both says he prefers the Charlie Bigham one.

"Bighams" not Binghams :-) I think it is great value for money. I challenge you to keep it as tasty and half the price. You always get what you pay for.
Okay it seems expensive for a single serving frozen meal...but is it? I live in the U.S. so bear with me as for availability, cost, and exchange rate; If I had no ingredients, other than spices in the pantry, I figured a full lasagne in a 9×13 casserole dish would cost me almost $35. Take into consideration I'm making my best lasagne with great ingredients. That includes my favorite sauce, ground beef, mushrooms, ricotta, cottage, parmesan, and mozzarella cheeses, onion, garlic, and the lasagne noodles themselves. Add another $7 for a decent California red wine (a splash with the beef, the rest for with dinner)...$42. 8 servings. That's $5.25 a serving....or £3.84 Sure, I could make a crap lasagne for almost half the price but we want something good! I can guarantee mine tastes better but consider the prep and cook time of almost 2 hours! So is that REALLY expensive at even one pound more?
Grocery food prices are way cheaper in the UK compared to the US, because grocery food isn't taxed here (UK). So a homemade lasagna would cost a fraction of the price of a ready meal.

Sorry having seen this will still be making my own, crispy brown cheese on top and about three times the amount for 4 quid. Good to see the review though☺☺
It's a home made lasagne marketed under the artisan banner enabling them to charge twice as much! There's nothing here you can't make yourself for less money.
looks really nice but not worth 4 quid . I got a big Tesco lasagne serves 4 for 6 quid and that was excellent and possibly 3 times as big. Easy to use less meat and put in alot of sauce to pad it out then add fancy packaging make it look gourmet and some will pay for it.
This is £5.50 in Sainsburys. (At the moment its £4.50 on offer ) This Charlie Bigham stuff is well overpriced , I'm an online picker and people actually buy quite a lot of this range..........They must have more money than sense .

Hey mate love lasagne looks moorish worth £4 easy ..... 8 out of 10 score for me if u go back too Tesco's try there steak pies and Curry's top notch you not go wrong there mate I promise u ... Cu tonight Andy 😊
Thanks mate 👍👍
Gareth reckon wife really enjoyed, definitely could eat that right now not much but be nice with chips beans, ♥️😋😋😋
Good Idea Kim. All the best 😋👌😘
It's only a quid more than what you normally get from Iceland ! Lol!
It's normally 4.75 I got it cheap and its allot lighter than the meals you get at Iceland. Scandalous 😉
Sorry having seen this will still be making my own, crispy brown cheese on top and about three times the amount for 4 quid. Good to see the review though☺☺
Cheers Wendy, you can't beat home made 👍👍
Was it better Aldi's?
It's a home made lasagne marketed under the artisan banner enabling them to charge twice as much! There's nothing here you can't make yourself for less money.
your right there that was an arm and a leg on little to.
👍
The chili con carne is really good
Cheers 😋😋👍
Sadly nowadays £4 for a ready meal isn’t even expensive anymore 😂
I know. That's average price now lol
These are nice. 👍
mmmmm....Beautiful!
My local butchers frank parkers in nuneaton do there homemade lasagne in the large foil tray £3.80 very filling and top quality ingredients

Brilliant Kat, great idea. I will you know. Thank you 💡👌👌
@@BaldFoodieGuy It will def be funny 👍 😂
Charlie flamin Bingham's ?!!!!!!. Have you copped a triple rollover.........looks lush though but
haha
Looks nice x
£6 now 💀💀💀 doesn't even look aesthetically good, but I do wish to try it, and the fish pie...
looks really nice but not worth 4 quid .
I got a big Tesco lasagne serves 4 for 6 quid and that was excellent and possibly 3 times as big.
Easy to use less meat and put in alot of sauce to pad it out then add fancy packaging make it look gourmet and some will pay for it.
Yes your right Martin. Never again for me. Might try the luxury Lasagne at Iceland if they do them. Cheers pal 👍
This is £5.50 in Sainsburys. (At the moment its £4.50 on offer ) This Charlie Bigham stuff is well overpriced , I'm an online picker and people actually buy quite a lot of this range..........They must have more money than sense .
Yes Joe is very expensive isn't it.
It said not suitable for air fryer so I put it in the air fryer and it came out really nice 23 minutes
Nice one
