      Alot of people don't realize how capable the front-mid engine rear wheel drive can be with a little bit of work and Seat Time.

      Thanks, I have a manual conversion kit in the works. Will have to do a slight update before the swap starts

      Hope it's not a w58. That's what i got. Weak transmission. Very easy to do manual swap on these. Straight forward.

      @@brucepeninsula2036 I ended up going with fischracing bell housing kit and a cd009 from an 07 350z. I figured the gear ratios should match the 290hp rated 1uz vvti and should be a decent fun setup especially for track and canyon use. I consider the w58 but heard too many bad things and r154 was too costly.

      @@brucepeninsula2036 nooooo don't say that. I'm shooting for 300 hp and just swapped the w58 in. It's a bone stock engine rn tho

    What kind of brakes are you running? Stock with upgraded pads and rotors?

    97+ Seem so much faster with that extra power bump and gear!

    • @saeturn29
      @saeturn29  Před 2 lety +1

      The vvti and a650e 5sp auto were sold as 98-00 for sc400 models so avoid the 97 model if you are in the market for those additional bump in power and gear.

    Been watching your track videos and love the way that SC400 sounds! How do you like shifting using the auto shift? I've been looking at a SC400 to purchase and I was at the Toyota dealership this weekend and seen a 97 Supra with the "manu" button beside the auto trans shifter and was curious if the SC400's have something similar to where the auto can be shifted reliably? Looks like you don't lose any time by shifting the auto and it seems to work great in your videos.

    • @saeturn29

      Thank you and It's not bad at all at least with my experience. I use it mainly for controlling speed to help accelerate out of corners and what not instead of leaving it in D and waiting for it to automatically downshift when i go WOT. It's lasted 9 track days already and quite a few canyon runs and weekend drives as well. I think as long as you upkeep the maintenance like transmission fluid and filter then it should be fine. And as for manual mode, the sc400 didn't have that option like the gs400 however that would have been better in my opinion to have so the driver can stay focused on the steering wheel for track days.

    What suspension setup are you running? Any weight reduction?

    • @saeturn29
      @saeturn29  Před 2 lety +2

      Some minor weight reduction. Actually have more to do still. Currently on megan ez2 coilovers with stiffer spring rates than it originally came with. Whiteline sway bar kit and battle version endlinks. 2 years old supra front lower control arms. -2.5 degrees for front camber and -2.0 degrees for the rear and slight toe out up front and toe in for the rear. The car rotates really well and responsive with this setup but you have to be very familiar with the cars behavior.

      @@saeturn29 sounds like a great setup! I also had a 95 SC400 from 2005-2016…had a lot of mods done to it and I tracked it once lol, but unfortunately someone rear ended me in 2016 and it was totaled. Now I have a 2005 SC430 with some light mods and I want to start tracking it now after watching your vids lol

      200 treadwear tires from federal rsrr in this video, I have since went through a set of toyo proxes r888r and now on kumho v730 275/35r18. The rest is minor suspensions and longtube headers/exhaust/intake. Search time attack sc400 on club lexus for the full detail and build write up, cheers!

    • @saeturn29
      @saeturn29  Před 2 lety

      Full set of long tube headers from hurricane and custom exhaust all the way through. BFI and intake resonator delete. Nothing else. Later model sc400 has vvti so they're. Aking 290hp from the factory already
