Matpat makes a good point. During his interview with Susan Wajiski he asked why gamers are treated like second class citizens. Susan says they’re not. Yet instead of showing the actual gamers that made the games popular, they just showed the games.

Mat is the only other person I've ever heard discuss the dialogue problem which I believe is one of the biggest reasons why rewind 2018 failed
What sucks about this rewind is they didn’t include the top gamers and animators. The Oddonesout hit 10 mil and many other animators hit one million, yet, they weren’t mentioned. How sad is that.

Most animators that are popular on CZcams aren’t very good at animation. All they do is that “story time” garbage.
@@SmoothTurtle840 Might be garbage for you, but people like me really enjoy their videos, which is why they have such big followings. And yeah, the animation sometimes doesn't seem finished but that's just because one person is given a month to draw, colour, record audio, shade, script and edit an eight-minute video to fit the youtube algorithm.
Another thing is I feel like CZcams should have fit reactors somewhere.

I'm watching this video for the first time and I went ahead and rewatched the other FBE reacts for all the YT rewinds and OMFG for 2018 almost every CZcamsr looked like they had a gun to their head, now everyone is actually voicing their stuff out honestly with Gus and Mat probably bringing up the best negative points of the rewind series.
2012-2015 was the peak. You were able to see the CZcamsrs involved, good production, VERY trend/meme/popularity based and honestly rewatching them all they were the only ones I remembered.
ALSO Mat addressed the thing with the videos games in 2019 which really pissed me off as well, but no one notices.
For those who are asking about MatPat’s odd haircut choice, he hosted a charity stream with St. Judes not long ago and raised up to 1.2 Million and had to shave his head because they raised way more than expected :)

FYI Rebecca Black is actually a decent singer. It was because of the autotune that happened because the recording studio she went through wanted it/edited it that way. The public bashing years ago was very unnecessary.

The ones that are most iconic: 2012-2015. 2017 was good especially because of the opening.
I didn't like the opening of 2017's YT Rewind initially but then I realised it was a reference to the video chat where the little girl barges through the door and it also comes full circle at the end when Colbert says "I didn't catch that you were about to tell me about 2017"
Real talk tho. CZcams started out with people who did it for fun and you can still see how different the content is when its from a creator who is doing CZcams for fun vs doing it for money. I feel like it might be a good thing to see the creators who aren't in it for the money take the forefront of youtube again.
I agree, but I also know that many youtubers put a lot of work into making really great, well produced videos and see it as their job, they deserve to get paid just like everyone else. I also think that it's pretty evident when someone does it just because they want to be a youtuber and when they do it because they genuinely enjoy making the kind of content they make and connecting with their audience in the way that youtube allows them to. I'm the kind of person who is only subscribe to a few youtubers, but I know that I can count on those people to always, ALWAYS put out content that I'll enjoy, i don't mind supporting them. If they're giving me great videos, I don't see why they shouldn't get payed for the effort it took to make them.

I think the decline of CZcams was when brand safety started happening and guiding restrictions began, its like money became more important to creativity
