Im playing a Roland Gaia keyboard and the drummachine pattern is from a iPhone/iPad app called "Funkbox"
From playbassnow.com

That's purely awesome. I love that Gaia synth. And a great groove to demo it with.... kudos!
Thanks for that! I am a bass player and recently started with synths! Very helpful.
Great video on synth bass!!! Thanks for making this M
More funk than my work socks after 10 hour shift.
Awesome tutorial. Badass play 😊
Great tips, thanks!
The Gaia is an awesome synth keyboard. So many great tones and nowhere near the price of where you'd think it would be.
Great licks on that Gaia man!
This is great, thank you!
Love it.
Definitely more of this please
your vídeos are so informative! i am from brazil and i always came here to learn something! many thanks and long life to your channel!
Thank you this video is really helpful!!
very nice groove!!
Very helpful.
Great tips man!
Wow...great bass playing on keys!
You should make more keyboard videos, awesome man
Awsome !!! Love u so much dude :3
The two hand technique is very often missed or glossed over by synth players. This is a great technique for sure. What would be interesting though is to see how you would play straight up funk "slap" bass on the synth. That I think is harder for most compared to the regular synth bass sound. Sure nothing is better than the real bass, but for keyboardists looking to get that slap bass sound on the keys, it would be fun to see your approach as an experienced bass player. Thanks!!
Doc, that Cm groove was 'nasty'! Now gimme some mo'! :-D
NICE!
Hi Marlow thank you for the video's you put up it really helps.by any chance can you do a cover of ME TO VOICE MAIL song. it's got killer sythn bass but can't find anyone who does tutorials of that song.
No, but its based on the bank 1 , patch 1 preset bass sound. I just tweaked the envelope a bit on the Tone 1 , added Low Boost in the fx section and turned off Tone 3. As far as i remember :-)
Great stuff, thanks. For some reason it never occured to me to use both hands before...
Marlowe You rock
I automatically felt like I was watching an 80s based movie-
Excellent work, as always!! Are you favoring this Roland over the Moog I saw you playing previously? Certainly the pitch bend is more conducive to this type of playing...
Nice that was kool
You should do a cover of The Melody still lingers on!
Nice video.
two semitones up, one octave down ( rarely use the down)
Lol! Thank you:-)
It sound really good I can't seem to get that on my gaia
nice video
Someone please make a 10 hour loop of that riff.
Oh god this is so epic! hahaha
Duly noted, the voice is actually louder than usual, but i always forget to speak up,lol
Hi Marlowe,
Could you play Mantronix got to have your love Bass line? I am struggling to play it.
Thanks Dave
nice :D
By the way, thank you - a real keyboardist - for the thumbs up:-)
lol the first song gives me an earthbound vibe :p
you did that
the sound reminds me of stevie's So What The Fuss
Hey Marlowe I've noticed that you have the Gaia and a Lil Phatty.....this is the same setup another amazing bassist has for synth. I see what you mean about the pitch wheel what's your thoughts about the Novation Bass Station 2 as a cheaper alternative.
nice fat funky bass :>
I highly recommend to try bass accordion. You shall be surprised with the results.
Can you cover Flashlight by Parliament?
ish mush moshe izzzzier yeah :))
Ghost notes are notes that muted as they're played. Give a whole lotta love a listen to see what I'm talking about.
Hey Marlowe is that a pre set sound you're using on the video
But i can see it might be interesting for synth players that doesnt play the bass guitar. But its not really my cup of tea, as im trying to learn the synth bass style of Greg Phillinganes, George Duke, Bernie Worrel, Stevie Wonder etc
Hey MarloweDK..check out Scott Thunes playing a moog during Zappa's 88 tour..
Roland gaia for the win! This synth takes so much sh*t but I own one and let me say, it's one cool little fella if you know how to use it!
what kind of chords would you put over the bass line? start with C- or Db major
Hey Marlowe, wonderful video.I'm a bass player, but I want to play bass synth like you did in the video.Unfortunately,I don't have much money.Do you know any model name that costs little? And can be played like that? Thx.
Buy a used synth if you are on a budget,Korg r3 or even the microKorg is good. They have a standard pitchwheel though, but thats ok too
That bender could be on the foot
Hey Marlowe! Thanks for the uploads. Have you heard about the nova station 2? Whats your take on those? Great vids!
bass station 2 is wicked and does a hell of a lot for the price! Definitely worth checking out.
How do you like the Gaia. Im thinking about getting one as an entry to synth bass.
well. i like the pitch wheel a lot and its easy to program, but it doesnt have many usable sounds out of the box, you need to make them yourself.
Another cheap alternative is the Korg R3
Great, thank you!
Harry D. I got one, its pretty cool, but i dont know if i like the drive for bass. as far as i can tell, it seems like it need more umph sometimes
I have the Korg Arp odyssey and the bass on it is excellent and you can do a lot with altering the sound with it plus it is analog; the Gaia is not analog though it is a cool synth. Just up to preference! :)
Thats true, Ive been looking at the Korg minilogue alot for my analog sound basis.
I never like the idea of being limited to a mono or duo only keyboard, since im very performance based.
how you create bass sound like that?please guide us
Lol, sure it can, but i cater mostly for bassplayers;-)
Not really, but the Moog need repairs - i do as you say - like this pithcwheel
Really? I didn't expect that answer at all. There's some really cool stuff on the synth that have that slap feel. Sorry, just didn't expect that but I guess I should expect it coming from a bass player. Oh well, best of luck with your series.
How many semitones is your pitchbend setting?
Mike Manavela i Muyimbeleri Wa Vunanga bya Xitsonga xa hlawuleko wo Sungula
what amp do you use for this one?
No amp, just through a cheap behringer mixer line in to the camera
Dont get me wrong.-), but i havent heard any synth "slap" bass in any serious setting
Can this be possible in yamaha psr s670
Does anyone know How ti make this synth bass on a vst? Kudos
Slap bass on keyboard is a bit cheesy IMO - unless its the Seinfeld theme;-)
Bot apruved! WE CANT SLAP IT!!

leave my bass teacher alone.

what song is this?
Something i made up, i think
can anyone recommend a fairly cheap synth for a rock setting? like around £200 or $260
Carl Mason Depends on what you need, but the Arturia Microbrute is great and cheap. I have one.
Wario
Great videos but your voice is always too quiet. Please volume up a little bit for your voice. (It's a little bit annoyed cause you have specific accent and sometimes I must listen very carefully to understand you ;) ). Greets.
Sorry sangsaratrip. Didn't get the joke.
Take a lesson boys and girls. Never use your video camera's mic for your voice over, especially when your other audio source(s) are directly connected to your video.
fuck off gimp
