I agree with the 1 train ops, but the issue is apart from Tantrum, they don't even have a second train for the other coasters (except for Viper, but from what I've heard they haven't run a second train on Viper since 2015). 2 train ops, and some touchups around the park (and maybe a little more love for the landscaping) would make this park much better. There is a ton of space and plenty of potential within the park.
Darien Lake is my home park. My husband and I grew up with it. They haven't run two trains for a long time. It would be awesome if the Predator was turned into a hybrid. I've tried every part of the train and it's still a rough ride.
I hope they develop Darien Lake. This is my home part as I moved from the Captial Region (Great Escape). I've held a season pass here for a few years on and off (including both with and without six flags). I agree they need to RMC Predator. The park is ose enough that I tend. To go after work and it's also generally pretty quiet.
My home park. I got a really good deal on tickets for next weekend and we're going for my boyfriend's birthday. Not much for me to ride there though as I'm afraid of heights and drops.. Just did my first inversions this year. Maybe I'll "woman up" and do tantrum or ride of steel. I know I'm weird--an enthusiast who doesn't like the big ones.
Margaret Jividen if you Woman up and do ride of steel, put your hands up. I was mortified going up the lift hill of my first hypercoaster, but right before we went down the drop, I flew my hands up, convincing myself that it would be more fun that way. And boy, it was
You got it, I just went to sfog for the first time a few month ago and I rode my first inversion and hyper, I rode everything except dare devil dive, you just gotta do it and them you’ll be hooked
Wow, I didn't realize Darien Lake was that humongous! I might try to make it there next year. It is the closest SF park to me at about 4.5 hours. My dad said he would like to go up there with me because it actually has some interesting history for my dad. His uncle used to own a campground located where the park is. His uncle also lived extremely close to the park and my dad said you should be able to see where he lived from the park. So that's pretty cool I guess.
I kind of want to go to Darien Lake, but mainly because of some of the old-time non-ride attractions they have, like live variety shows and a fascination game, which are super rare in modern parks. I hope Six Flags doesn't get rid of these attractions.
I grew up 9 miles from here. Lots of memories. I used to love Viper; probably started going there around 1985. I rode it a few years ago and my head got bashed pretty hard; I did not enjoy it. Now I live 23 miles from Carowinds, and got my season passes this year, and am super looking forward to making them lose money on me 😊
I totally agree an RMC rework of predator would be huge for the park and would give it 2 coasters that draw with Superman and then allow tantrum and viper to be decent supporting coasters. I could also see them giving a few flat rides since outside of the coasters there isn’t much for thrills. The launch tower, the Larson loop, and a decent splash down are about it. Water park is fairly decent as well but with long lines on a hot day.
Aww man no love for the Predator? That was my first coaster ever as a kid. At the time it was the 7th largest wooden coaster in the country. Darien Lake used to have it's appeal by being a smaller park and offering camping right there coupled with summer concerts.
Here ill give predator my love its a great ride thats a little rough but my God I would give practically anything for this pandemic to be over so I could go and ride everything including predator and especially moose on the loose
My theme park nearby is Darien Lake. I have always loved the park but in the past few years predator has gotten very rough. That used to be my favorite coaster.
I live 30 minutes from Darien Lake, so I visit several times each summer, and MIND ERASER IS THE WORST GODDAMN RIDE I HAVE EVER RIDDEN, it’s terrible. The boomerang is my favorite, it always has a short line and I love the view at the top
Darien lake is great. They used to run 2 trains on everything. But in the last 5 years only one on each until they got the tantrum. But we can't loose the back massager
The main "attraction" of Darien Lake is the Performing Arts Center (PAC). Many people come for the Live Nation Concerts and enjoy the park as a free perk (Concert tickets during the season come with free park admission). That being said, it would be great if they RMC'd predator.
I grew up with Darien Lake with Viper being my first coaster ever. Is it Cedar Point? No. But it still is a great park. I'm disappointed though that they have removed so many non coasters though. I miss the Ranger and the UFO. ROS is still the best ride in the park because of that airtime. I got a chance to go last summer after moving to NYC about 10 years ago. Tantrum was a welcome addition. I had been on the same type at Coney Island so I knew what to expect but I liked the DL one way more. Restraints were much better and the drop felt much smoother.
Do you think if six flags really went all in on Darien Lake they could pull Toronto into its attendance figures? I’m from near by Rochester and Canada Wonderland is less then 3 hours away and I can’t wait to get to that park. I was thinking if Darien lake could get up to those standards I’d they could pull down riders from Canada. Hope to hear your thoughts. Thanks!
I start going to darien lake in my teens in the mid 90s when I was about 13 or 14, it's been my home town park and it's grown up a lot, the first time I went there they only had two coasters predator and viper. I really enjoy predator I kinda like it's roughness.
@@heather2661 They used to have second trains on all the coasters. As Heather said, I'm sure it costs them money to put them back on and more maintenance. It wouldn't really draw many more people to the park just for shorter lines. I remember the Superman having 3 trains. If they want more people coming to the park, they need to make more room for another giga coaster and throw in a big pendulum ride. They would easily make their money back and profit
Strata is 400+ ft (Top Thrill Dragster and KingDa Ka being the only two, currently). I say, for Darien Lake, go small. People around here won't flock to a super extreme coaster. I say what about a Railblazer one-rail type? Or another hyper coaster? Or an RMC? Or just remake Predator as is, but with steel or ibox track to smooth it out.
I live like four hours away from Darien Lake but back when I was younger it seemed Six Flags didn't really do much to the park during their last ownership. Hopefully this time they'll add more to the park! As for The Predator, that's legit a common complaint about it.
Dang you’ve gotta ride Ride of Steel later in the day. It moved up from my #17 behind rides like Griffon and Tempesto(which I love both but still) to my #6 barely edging out Millennium Force
My day was slightly busier than yours, but I was there on a Sunday. Still 1-train ops. Tantrum was 30-40 minutes on my first ride, but I went back later in the evening, and it was a walk-on for a little while. Not a bad crowd at all for a weekend. I had done Seabreeze in the morning, then Darien Lake from 3-10pm.
@@andrewbrink4630 Did you have a bad experience there? It's a small park that can be knocked out easily in a couple hours, but I didn't think it was bad. I was just wondering why it seemed like they had more security guards than guests walking around everywhere.
this is my local park. i agree that fantasy island is a little underwhelming, but it holds a special place in my heart because i went there as a kid, plus i love the crazy mouse. as for darien lake, i agree that the coasters are great but there are plenty of fun rides that aren't coasters, too. some of my favorites are the lasso and the scrambler. i also like the water park. if you're into horror stuff, you should visit darien lake during fright fest and get chased by some zombies.
I do see Six Flags building up Darien Lake, they bought it for a reason. I also have heard that a lot of the camping ground is not used so if they tear out the go-kart track and the former Batman stunt show building, they could put in a decent dark ride.
Frontier City is on the same level as Great Escape. Also, Frontier City is landlocked and all they can really do it get rid of the go-kart track (this is happening throughout the chain). Even then, they invested in a new kid's area for the park.
this is my home park and ive agreed with everything you said and everyone who knows about coasters says rmc predator i have been there like 6 and only had 1 times this season ride on predator just to see if it got any better but of course it didn't. I hope six flags will invest in this park and make it great, and add more trains because 1 train ops.
I went to this park last week and I agree. ROS is an amazing coaster, Tantrum is pretty good, Viper is one of the smoother Arrow Loopers, Motocoaster is a fun family coaster, the Boomerang is just okay, and Predator and ME are awful.
My home park. I rode Predator for the first time a year ago. It was my first ride and I hated it. Then I tried again for my second one and it wasn't that bad. Still not one of my favorite woodies and I would love to see it RMC'd
My worst wooden coaster is Beast. After the second lift hill, it is horrible, and I rode two Vekoma Boomerangs and 4 arrow loopers, along with American Eagle, which is also smoother.
I recently moved to the upstate ny area from NYC so this park is very underwhelming to me for a six flags. I’m used to great adventure is NJ so the very limited thrill at darian lake is off putting. I can say it’s a nice family park and it’s very manageable for one day. I found myself bring my friends fin home there for a day out because of the short lines.
Oh and they can only run one train on all their coasters other than Tantrum because when it was bought from Six Flags they needed to sell the other trains to be able to run the place
They sadly removed the ferris wheel, I am unsure why but they did it and it hurts lol since I grew up riding it and being with my friends as I freak out about how high we are
This was my very first park I ever went to. It was the same year that moto coaster had opened and that was insane for a first coaster, until I decided to try predator. Rode it twice, broke down the second time. Left with bruises all over my back and my ribs. They used to have two trains on each when I was there but I will NEVER ride predator again after the bruises it gave me.
So this is our home park. It’s in the middle of nowhere. I will say I haven’t been in years, but Predator suuuuuuuuucks. Idk if you went with a local, but everyone would’ve told you it’s bad. And Mind Eraser is the best. Tantrum wasn’t built the last time I went, but Mind Eraser was the best hands down.
Mind Eraser is good if and only if you can manage to not bang your head on every freaking roll. For me, I always exit that ride with a pounding headache.
I agree with you they should RMC the predator they don't even have to put Loops in it just replace the track with your ibox track and you have a great coaster
They always ruin coasters by adding unneeded inversions and rebuilding with ugly colors and what looks like it was built with matchsticks. The only good thing about RMC ibox track is that it's a smooth ride. I agree retrack with ibox, don't add inversions, because predator already has a very good layout, which could be great were it a smoother ride.
predator has its bad and good days, back row is the worst but front is semi-smooth, and lines get horrific for superman and tantrum, I live near the buffalo area and go to darien lake frequently and it is an amazing park to have near by that isnt that big but big enough
i still don’t know why Six Flags hasn’t RMC’d predator it’s a cheap project and would elevate D.L to new heights and raise attendance more than there is now
Darien lake has some high quality areas then some extremely low quality areas of the park. Here's my hopes for the next few years: 2019: they're already adding another water slide which is odd to me case they're water park is already great 2020: new pendulum ride like at every other six flags park and tear down mind eraser and rename ride of steel to superman again 2021: add a new inverted or other type of large scale coaster where mind eraser was that ads something to the line up at the park 2022: retrack predator by GCI and add new kiddie rides and replace some run down ones (like there's this one ride that is a cheap carnival ride and doesn't even have a name) 2023: free spin anywhere in the park or a justice league ride where the old batman show was in the building next to viper The park needs major investments to be up to the level of quality that most parks are at today
For Cedar Fair it was on a US SEC report from 2016. For Six Flags, the acreage is on their annual shareholder report. Just google six flags 2018 shareholder report
Adam Smith is correct. Car 6 row 2, aka Row 17. Row 18 gave me some bad jackhammering in some spots. Next to last row had just as good airtime, but was much smoother.
@@colemouledous4817 There is some shaking on Kingda Ka if you sit towards the back, but I had no issues with it. B&M rattles give me a headache and can spoil the ride, but even the shakiest Intamins are no problem at all for me. It can be a problem for some people, which is why you see those reports. So I don't know if it will bother you or not, but it is shaky in the back. Towards the front was fine.
This is my home park, and I agree that it has major potential. If Six Flags RMC's predator (which there has been rumors for years that it will happen) the park would get a major tourism boost. Because it would be the only RMC in New York State. I have also been saying for years that Darien Lake needs a B&M. There is signs that Six Flags is interested in the park. The fact that they put in a new flat ride the for the first season their owned the park, and that the Shoot The Chute water ride is being demolished is a sign they are looking for expansion opportunities
@@blackzim9231 I don't see Six Flags adding a second Woodie in Darien Lake. I don't see the room. The only reason Tantrum was able to be built was because they took the log flume out. If they put in another Woodie, especially a GCI, something would have to go. I think the only way to see a GCI put in, would be to take out Mind Eraser, and Grizzly Bear Run(The Raft ride that has been SBNO all year, and build there.
Idk, gci has made some compact designs. They could use the empty land next to the splash boat and have the ride go out into the parking lot a little right by the entrance. Plus i have no issue with them removing mind eraser, that ride is trash anyways
@@blackzim9231 true. But it's the only invert in Darien. They would have a hole in their lineup. But I do want to see them do something with the land by the splash boat that use to be apart of the water park, and I honestly think the Water Rapids ride is not long for that park. But we'll have to wait and see. We don't know how much money Six Flags is willing to shovel into Darien Lake. Like other channels have said, like coaster studios, Darien Lake needs to up there Park Operations first. Get more then one train for the popular roller coasters like Ride Of Steel or Predator, or Viper, figure out a faster way to get people through the water park rides, etc.
Darien and fantasy island are my home parks . fantasy island is now closed down forever during this pandemic, I believe some rides got sold already. If draien RMC'd predator and fixed up mind eraser and give the coasters a repaint I think a lot of people would be happy 🌈
According to Wikipedia, more specifically on Fantasy Island's attractions: * Gondola Wheel sold to a company in italy. * Mega Disk'o (featured in the video at 4:17) was being dismantled in late February, so presumably sold or relocated somewhere else. * Red Baron has been relocated. * Silver Comet is SBNO, but its train was sold for refurbishment and will eventually be resold to someone else at a future date; this means the coaster likely won't be able to operate again at any point in the near future.
This is my home park but I have to say predator isn’t that bad I usually get great rides on it and it isn’t rough for me at all so maybe you just got a bad ride
I took the family there for the first time in July and my son who hates Woodies actually liked it. We both put it in the top three wooden coasters we have been on.
Michael Gregori I would be fine with a rmc of it but honestly like I said it’s a fun ride and pretty solid for me at least at least it’s not mighty Canadian mind buster but who knows i like minderaser here too
The predator is actually a decent ride, however you need to to ride in the very front car. I’ve been going to the park for 12 years and I’ve spent way to much time there.
Theres some confusion about the year I visited this park, it was 2018 and not 2019. These basically serve as park reviews and I am very behind on them
If people would pay attention they would know that you said that in the video 🤷🏽♂️

To go after work and it's also generally pretty quiet.
a tip for riding predator is go front car and loosen up you body by putting your hands up, it wont be as rough
It use to be my home park and I worked there for 4 seasons back when it was six flags the first time and everything was two train operation then.
Planning to go next year. The last time I went was so long ago Viper was the only coaster, not counting the kiddie coaster.
Very cool video. Thanks for posting and have a nice day too.
Margaret Jividen I can relate but you just gotta power through your fears!
Id make that 4.5 hour trip and add Seabreeze and Fantasy Island to the mix to sweeten the pot
@@AirtimeThrills I really want to go to Fantasy Island to ride Silver Comet!
Coaster Daddy Well, Fantasy Island is out of the equation. It closed indefinitely this year.
@@uba5578 Yeah I know
going there on my 18th birthday to see a concert this sunday. ive been going here since i was 4
i went yesterday and theres one seat on predator like near the back but like a few rows in thats not that rough so try that
@@obamaalert6602 i already knew that lmao ive been going since i can ride the coasters and before
@@ChiyaQT nice
Love this series! Please do more!
Will do! These serve as my park reviews
@@AirtimeThrills Awesome! I'm excited for more of them!
1:43 no it can be a good thing if they’re talking about Thunder Run in 2019.
I went here last month on June 28th, so fun! Only ride I don't recommend is the boomerang lol
Thanks!
My home park. Going tomorrow for the Beck concert.
I start going to darien lake in my teens in the mid 90s when I was about 13 or 14, it's been my home town park and it's grown up a lot, the first time I went there they only had two coasters predator and viper. I really enjoy predator I kinda like it's roughness.
We don't own second trains. Sold or not replaced during non-Six flags ownership.
I know one ride that they actually have two extra trains for, it's just spending the money to put them on the track
@@lsdxm Technically Ride of Steel is a hyper coaster (200+ ft tall) not giga (300+ ft tall) but still a very good coaster nonetheless.
@@johnd5931 that's what I meant lol we need a strata stat!
Im sorry you had to experience seabreeze.
@@andrewbrink4630 Did you have a bad experience there? It's a small park that can be knocked out easily in a couple hours, but I didn't think it was bad. I was just wondering why it seemed like they had more security guards than guests walking around everywhere.
@@OklahomaCoasterFan it attracts a lot of youths who are up to no good and you're right it isn't a bad park.
this is my local park. i agree that fantasy island is a little underwhelming, but it holds a special place in my heart because i went there as a kid, plus i love the crazy mouse. as for darien lake, i agree that the coasters are great but there are plenty of fun rides that aren't coasters, too. some of my favorites are the lasso and the scrambler. i also like the water park. if you're into horror stuff, you should visit darien lake during fright fest and get chased by some zombies.
Darien Lake is my home-park. I rate the rides Viper, Ride of Steel, Tantrum, Motocoaster, Boomerang Hootenahaller, Mind Eraser and then Predator
I do see Six Flags building up Darien Lake, they bought it for a reason. I also have heard that a lot of the camping ground is not used so if they tear out the go-kart track and the former Batman stunt show building, they could put in a decent dark ride.
They also acquired Frontier City and I dont see what they could even possibly do there to make it a legit park
Frontier City is on the same level as Great Escape. Also, Frontier City is landlocked and all they can really do it get rid of the go-kart track (this is happening throughout the chain). Even then, they invested in a new kid's area for the park.
I was at Darien Lake That day,but I prefer waterparks,I still love the vids man
this is my home park and ive agreed with everything you said and everyone who knows about coasters says rmc predator i have been there like 6 and only had 1 times this season ride on predator just to see if it got any better but of course it didn't.
My home park
when i went to darien lake that was my first time on a rollercoaster. the mind eraser was so bumpy and uncomfortable and i blacked out lol
Predator was my first ever roller coaster
I recently moved to the upstate ny area from NYC so this park is very underwhelming to me for a six flags. I’m used to great adventure is NJ so the very limited thrill at darian lake is off putting. I can say it’s a nice family park and it’s very manageable for one day. I found myself bring my friends fin home there for a day out because of the short lines.
Oh and they can only run one train on all their coasters other than Tantrum because when it was bought from Six Flags they needed to sell the other trains to be able to run the place
Why do you sound so depressed and bored? I love your channel. It's awesome. Lmfao
They sadly removed the ferris wheel, I am unsure why but they did it and it hurts lol since I grew up riding it and being with my friends as I freak out about how high we are
Not gonna lie but the Mind Eraser is my favorite ride there besides the blast off
is moto coaster a clone of steeplechase at coney island?
Also I just got a newsletter stating they will be announcing a new ride for 2020 on the 29th
I think all Six Flags parks are announcing around that date
Dont you guys do flatrides, or do you guys only ride rollercoasters?
I agree with you they should RMC the predator they don't even have to put Loops in it just replace the track with your ibox track and you have a great coaster
They always ruin coasters by adding unneeded inversions and rebuilding with ugly colors and what looks like it was built with matchsticks. The only good thing about RMC ibox track is that it's a smooth ride. I agree retrack with ibox, don't add inversions, because predator already has a very good layout, which could be great were it a smoother ride.
A few of them have 2 trains now
Fantasy island sadly shut down due to complications with the pandemic... it's sad I never got to go.
They actually announced it would be closing back in February.
They only have one train for everything.... one train ops is the forever standard lol
I’ve always had this memory of there being 3 trains on the Viper once when I was a kid, but I’m starting to think I might have dreamt that lol
I heard the possibility Viper might be running 2 trains when the park reopens.
Kenshin Viper definitely used to run 3 trains.
My home ground.... Rochester NY
predator has its bad and good days, back row is the worst but front is semi-smooth, and lines get horrific for superman and tantrum, I live near the buffalo area and go to darien lake frequently and it is an amazing park to have near by that isnt that big but big enough
i still don’t know why Six Flags hasn’t RMC’d predator it’s a cheap project and would elevate D.L to new heights and raise attendance more than there is now
Darien lake has some high quality areas then some extremely low quality areas of the park. Here's my hopes for the next few years:
2019: they're already adding another water slide which is odd to me case they're water park is already great
2020: new pendulum ride like at every other six flags park and tear down mind eraser and rename ride of steel to superman again
2021: add a new inverted or other type of large scale coaster where mind eraser was that ads something to the line up at the park
2022: retrack predator by GCI and add new kiddie rides and replace some run down ones (like there's this one ride that is a cheap carnival ride and doesn't even have a name)
2023: free spin anywhere in the park or a justice league ride where the old batman show was in the building next to viper
The park needs major investments to be up to the level of quality that most parks are at today
How do u find out how many acres a park is and how much of there land they have used up. Can u reply a link or something
For Cedar Fair it was on a US SEC report from 2016. For Six Flags, the acreage is on their annual shareholder report. Just google six flags 2018 shareholder report

He went on Friday the 13th!!
Sorry but is El Toro smoother Car 6 Row 3, Car 6 Row 2, or Car 6 Row 1?
Car 6 row 2 is the best because its not a wheel seat.
Back row way to go
Adam Smith is correct. Car 6 row 2, aka Row 17. Row 18 gave me some bad jackhammering in some spots. Next to last row had just as good airtime, but was much smoother.
Iron Rattler fanboy thanks a lot
Also is Kingda Ka even rough. Lot of mixed opinions on it.
Towards the front was fine.
lol I won't get the chance to go here till I'm 18 at least. Darn!
I think a used B&M batman clone could replace mind eraser, but if the do rmc predator, id much rather see a gci come before a b&m
Thats fair enough, hopefully they add some good stuff, but new trains is a must.
I despise predator, maybe even more than Mind Eraser. That ride completely messed me up. Got the credit and didn’t have to look at it again, lol
i was just there today
Darien and fantasy island are my home parks . fantasy island is now closed down forever during this pandemic, I believe some rides got sold already. If draien RMC'd predator and fixed up mind eraser and give the coasters a repaint I think a lot of people would be happy 🌈
According to Wikipedia, more specifically on Fantasy Island's attractions:
* Gondola Wheel sold to a company in italy.
Thanks for the info 🌈 and man it sucks Silver comet won't be a thing anymore. It was a classic.
Nice vid
Orion is the new giga coaster at kings island just announced
This is my home park but I have to say predator isn’t that bad I usually get great rides on it and it isn’t rough for me at all so maybe you just got a bad ride
Tristan Harter completely disagree. this is also my home park and it is really rough. six flags should rmc it
I took the family there for the first time in July and my son who hates Woodies actually liked it. We both put it in the top three wooden coasters we have been on.
Andre Hull not me. it is incredibly rough
Michael Gregori I would be fine with a rmc of it but honestly like I said it’s a fun ride and pretty solid for me at least at least it’s not mighty Canadian mind buster but who knows i like minderaser here too
Tristan Harter how often do u go to darien lake
What's your background music?
From the CZcams audio library, "stranger danger"
I got my friends to subscribe so you got to 8 k
How do you rank lagoon
Its right on the edge of my top 25. But ill be back in a couple weeks to rejudge
The predator is actually a decent ride, however you need to to ride in the very front car.
I’ve been going to the park for 12 years and I’ve spent way to much time there.
The best part about the prediator is the roughness lol
If you say so!
In 1997, sure. Since 2011 or so... no way. I genuinely worry about the structure itself as I've seen it rotate while the train goes by.
Wait, Friday the 13th😨
So why do they advertise it as a park that you can visit with your season pass?,
This year Im sure, this was last year
Season pass worked this year (2019). Dining pass options are still more limited than in most SF parks.
