Is Six Flags America Really THAT Bad?

- I spent a day at Six Flags America on its opening weekend, and based on my first visit back in 2008, I didn't have high expectations. Has this park improved at all in the last 11 years? Or is it still at the bottom of the barrel of Six Flags parks?
So this video's goal was to be funny, obviously I have some issues with this park but watching it back I can see where it could be seen as snarky or entitled and I don't want people to see it that way. Its still a fun time but this park does need some help from the top down.
Airtime Thrills nah bro you’re good. I was laughing a lot. Especially at the end when you said “Yes” 🤣😂🤣🤣🤣 to me that was the nail in the coffin ⚰️
Yah it does. I didn’t hate it though. And you’re good.
it was entertaining. And the truth is, if you had that experience with so many rides on opening day, Im sure others have had the same thing. Hopefully, someone from Six Flags sees the video and it motivates them to really start making some changes for the better. Ive only been to that park once and I was not impressed neither.
@@WhatsTheT yeah, nothing I said was untrue or exaggerated. I was more worried about my presentation of it rather than what actually happened
Omg Roar and Joker😂
That nonchalant "let's get on it before it breaks" was amazing 😂
"GPS, take me to Six Flags America"
"Ok, taking you to Six Flags Great America....The better park"
I live in the St.Louis area we have Six Flags originally called Six Flags Mid-America
I mean look at the name! Six Flags Great America to Six Flags America is a downgrade!
Bruh GPS gonna pay me the extra gas to get from DC to Chicago? Lmao
@@jisooxgrande876 And Six Flags Great Adventure sounds like an upgrade...
UkerBoss1772 If it helps, Six Flags St. Louis sucks ass 🤷🏻♂️
"lets get on it before it breaks!" sure isn't what you want to hear when at a park
M T I’ve heard this countless times at this amusement park
Especially if it's an Intiman
Or lightning rod
That is how it is at SFGAdventure with kingda ka
Actually, Joker’s Jinx was operating as intended: from a distance, you see people on it only to find that it’s broken when you arrive at the front of the line to ride it and as soon as you walk away, you see people on it again, only to return to find it closed. Honestly, it’s a great feat of engineering 🤣
I swear on ever joker ride it's always broken and a long ass frudging line ughh
This is my home park so I’ve been countless times over the last 20 years or so. It’s way too easy to outgrow this park. Beyond how horribly managed it is, the thrill level is really low overall, so as soon as you conquer Superman, there’s not much more to get excited about. Discovering other amusement parks thankfully lit the enthusiast fire in me.
It's also been in decline throughout those 20 years.
As a Canadian I have to say that it looks like an incredible park compared to what we have here. I'm in a major Canadian city and our one park literally just has one generic corkscrew rollercoaster - probably from the 80s. The next closest roller coaster is a 3 hour drive away (one way).
Yeah last time I went was in 4th grade or something. Luckily my college is right next to Busch Gardens so you know where imma be hitting up
@@jond3929 Either you're near La Ronde or your in BC where PNE Playland is.
this makes me so sad as i had wanted to make a trip out of visiting other six flags parks in my life. my home park is six flags darien lake and its majorly dissapointing to see they just took the majority of the iconic longstanding SFDL rides and rebranded the same ride as something else at SFA so its not even really worth going, ivealready technically ridden the mind eraser and superman here. plus a wild mouse is nothing to get too excited about imo,and why go if joker will more than likely b broken?

“Yes”
I've lived in MD all my life, oml. I never knew SFA had a bad national reputation. By no means am I implying its reputation is better locally. Literally everyone in the DMV has worked there and hated it, and if you haven't you've been there and just didn't have a good time. No one likes it but we always end up going occasionally, on especially dull summer days.
I have a vague memory of it being better when it was Adventure World, but I think my 7 year old brain just liked the pirate theming.
Makes me feel more blessed to be an hour from Great Adventure
Great Adventure was my home park

I thank God every day that Cedar Point is less than 2 hours away from me. I'm not sure I could ever move my entire life to chase theme parks so it's nice having a great one nearby. I feel bad for the people of DC/Baltimore.

Debatable
Six flags America is my homepark and I’ve been going here since 2005 when I was a baby and I like it
You know it's bad when your premier launch coaster breaks down more than TTD
The problem with Jokers Jinx is that it's very temperamental. Look at it wrong and it goes down.
SFA is my home park and I think you just went on a bad day, all the times I've been there the rides don't break down nearly as much
Yeah I almost never see a ride closed for breakdowns... except Joker's Jinx lol unreliable piece of crap, they should just replace it xD
But yeah the only time I see any of the other coasters closed is because it rained and the track's not dry yet. And ANY coaster's gonna close for that.

RecklessRex joker is still a good ride
I live like 40 minutes away, and I haven't bothered to go in years.
It's a tough spot for the park. The reputation is so bad around here that I'm not sure a major investment would really help, but a complete lack of investment is just a guarantee for it to continue to keep its bad rep.
It also doesn’t help that HersheyPark, King's Dominion, Busch Gardens are nearby.
Superman alone is worth a 40 min drive. Then you have Joker's Jinx, Batwing and Wild One which are all very good as well. They do really need to retrack Roar though. It used to be awesome but it's rough as hell now.
It is kind of over hated but Improvement is definitely needed

For this Six Flags park being my first-ever as a Canadian when I visited the area back in Summer 2019, this park wasn't really all that bad.
I got to ride on the Firebird for one (as well as the rest of the major coasters there), and I personally liked the Hurricane Harbor as well.
The Wild One was unfortunately closed when I was there, though I would still want to come back to it again in the distant future.

I'm from MD and I was never a fan of Six Flags America. It's bad enough that Six Flags has neglected the park so terribly in recent years, but my experiences there always seem to be subpar. I went there on a senior trip about 3 years ago and that was my first time back in well over a decade. Needless to say, it wasn't great.
I have visited Hersheypark, Kings Dominion and Busch Gardens Williamsburg far more within that timeframe, and I honestly would consider those to be my "home parks" more than SFA. I simply don't have any incentive to visit when there are far better parks in the region, even if they are a good 2-3 hours away.
Come visit it again! It keeps improving every year.

I lucked out at this park back in July and was able to get every credit and leave early. So much about this park was bad. The food, the service, the ops, the rides. You captured the essence of this place quite well.
I have been to this park more than just a few hours and it is actually awesome. Please visit again soon!
That first scene was so funny. SFA isn’t that bad. It’s a bit sketchy though I will admit and some of the ops leave something to be desired. Superman was running 2 trains and it was still slow. The ops themselves are nice enough. This park just needs some maintenance and love and a few new rides. Batwing was actually really intense. My face hurt after from the forces. My first flying dutchman.
It could be your last. There are only two Flying Dutchmen left. Only Nighthawk and Batwing remain.
It might be.
I agree with everything here, and I've only been there since earlier today lol

Coaster Roaster, Busch gardens Williamsburg: Am I a joke to you
Sorry there were so many issues, I’d recommend visiting it later in the year when they’ve figured out how parks are supposed to work. Most of the rides are usually running, crowds in the dry park are still low, and they run multiple trains on the coasters more often than you think, with faster ops than you think. I’ve even caught a couple times Superman dispatched before the other train hit the brakes.
Also for the best rides:
Roar - front
Wild One - 2nd to back (this was hauling last time I rode)
Superman - Very front
Firebird: Back row, inner seats for a bit more smoothness.
Also ride the scrambler, they usually run it surprisingly fast.
Superman is definitely the best in the front row, especially for the final drop (which is killed by hard brakes if you’re in the back). I was thinking of this because I noticed the footage of the four rides on this coaster was all toward the back of the train.
I thought about opening weekend being rough for most parks, but the park actually was slightly better than my June visit here in 2008. That day i had breakdowns AND closures
Yeah but that was 2008. SFA is way better in pretty much all respects than it was in 2008.
Visited two days this summer and every major ride was open. Batwing was off and on but still rode it many of times. Got to go more often to get a more valid opinion of the park.
i can literally see the wonderwoman swing ride from my yard
“NO! DON’T BRING YOUR PHONE! THAT’S DANGEROUS!!”

After seeing this it makes me be a little grateful that Seaworld Orlando, Universal Studios and while i only go once a year Disney World are only 30 minutes away with Busch Gardens being about 2 hours away.
IMO the park needs alot of work, but has a lot of potential. Ragin' Cajun(LOVE LOVE this spinner wild mouse), Wild One, Joker Jinx, superman, and Batwing ( I have a soft spot for those type of flyers) are all really decent ride, they are in desperate need of a new ground up coaster. love the humor in your vid, keep up the great work!
Literally the best editing and referenced I’ve ever seen! Especially “you suck, you chuck-a**!” because Happy Gilmore is one of my favorite comedy movies xD
I haven't read all the comments so idk if anyone has mentioned it, but you were talking to your car without the key even in the ignition, lol. Gave me a chuckle. Good vid!
my rule of thumb is that: If your not going to a theme park like Universal, Disney, and to some extent the Seaworld/Busch parks, then your opening a bag of tricks. Cedar Fair and Six Flags parks can be so inconsistent that its hard to judge them accurately. SFA is kinda bad thoo
Thats why those (6 flags, CF) are called amusement parks.
I've really never had an issue at any of the Cedar Fair Parks I've had a few issues at some of the six flags parks.. which is depends which Park you go to.. because even if cedar Fair won't give one of their parks that they don't give new rides every 3 or 4 years like they do with some other parks.. they will at least give them small improvements the park will always look nice everything will run 99% of the time.. but the parks that six flags doesn't really care about will have rides breaking down constantly throughout the day.. and it's just very evident that six flags favorite Parks have top priority over other parks.. like six flags America the most six flags will ever put into this park would be the amount they purchased it for.. which is a shame because if they built up tht park up it would be really awesome..
Six flags New England is amazing, well kept and loads of new rides all the time....weird. they get numbers in there park like those other park you mentioned so if you go be prepared for that....but honestly I had no idea the other six flags was awful

I'm glad that you said that you were joking. This park only needs a couple of more things. Not close to top to bottom fixing.
Lol loved the opening. Very funny 😅😂
That Superman coaster I think is a damn good coaster. Lots of intense moments. One of the rides that would be ranked MUCH MUCH higher if it was at a Cedar park, Cedar point even more so.
Loved your video!
We went in with low expectations last year and man, that park needs some major love you're right! You had me laugh/crying! I love the history of Wild One! Roar needs to be RMC'd so bad! I had a headache all night after that ride!
Superman was fun, was too scared to ride Batwing. Did you feel like you were going to die with Batwing? Lol I hate soft restraints like that. Ragin Cajun surprised me so much! I had so much fun on it and got me a good dizzy spell.
Also, while we also don't like that park as much as some other ones in the area, I highly recommend it for Holiday in the Park! The lights make it look so pretty! And the Entertainment and shows is good fun. Great video! Looking forward to your video with the most toughest coasters you have been on.
To answer your Batwing question, those models do feel like your feet arent that secure and it can get a little dicey
Funny, good video. I visited SFA for the first time this summer, for one day. I’ve been to nearly all the SF parks, and - judging from my one day - I’d say the park is certainly lower tier in the chain, but not terrible and definitely not the worst. It has one memorable, reridable steel coaster (S:ROS), and one historic woodie that many people love. Those highlights alone already place it above Darien Lake for me. The park’s worst sin was just feeling very SF generic.
Mind Eraser was nowhere near being the worst SLC I’ve been on (as I’d heard many claim in the past), but Firebird gave me some really violent boxes of the ears.
The most painful aspect for me was the fact that The Wild One was closed all day, and that coaster was far and away the number one reason I went to the park.
P.S. How did you do the GPS voice? Is there some app?
Wild One was a very solid woodie, exponentially better than Roar. As for the GPS, i just googled text to speech on my phone and then put it up to my microphone and inserted the audio into the skit i shot on the editor. Just had to time out the responses in my head while filming the skit
Airtime Thrills Well, it certainly came out well done. 👏
i'm planning on a 3 park trip next year, and i swear i hope when i visit 6 flags america they have everything running. only went once as a kid, but didn't do the roller coasters b/c back then i was to afraid to do them.
Lucky for me this trip, despite the breakdowns, all the coasters were open. My first visit, Batwing and Two Face were closed all day
Hope you have a great day! Don’t listen to the negativity.
Love, love, LOVE the opening with the gps! You get bonus points for your Kennywood shirt.

@@ThemeParkOverLoadChannel it's not really their fault though, they need help, but the pace Sf likes to go at is not what they need. Perhaps they'd be better owned by CF?
I am trying to figure out if you are being serious or not. You do realize Dorney Park is a larger park and gets more guests but still gets less investment than SFA recently. Same with a couple other parks in the CF chain.

purple rain at the gate is just perfect hahah!
growing up 20 minutes away from here. i can say that most locals go to kings dominion instead. this park has so much land and potential but literally the worst park ever.... it’s low budget and the rides are trash.
You were not being snarky but telling the Truth. It's why I created my web pages where I talk about Old Skool rides and rank the parks in order from Marquee to Step Children. Mind Eraser and Batwing need to go, along with the water rides, replace with something better. This park has no excitement. They could move S:ROS to another park, close SFA, and no one would care. Why they keep it open is beyond me. The last known attendance was 1.18 million. Kentucky Kingdom had 1.3 million and it was abandoned by SF. And yes, this park and SFStl did not get an RMC.
I mean, as much as Kings Dominion is a cool park, I'd rather not have to drive 2 hours out of my way just to go to an amusement park. I'd take this over nothing.
I still remember when it was called Wild World, then Adventure World. Good memories. Six flags basically made it static
That intro was class 😂😂😂
Wife and I went here on our theme park vacation before kids. Totally a locals park which had reasonable waits for what was there. We watched a couple shows which were low budget and fun. Not a roller coaster destination. Wish it had some more charm like a Kennywood.
Coaster Studios for the breadth of coverage and Airtime Thrills for the comedy.
What about ElToroRyan?

Judging by the crowds, it doesnt seem like youll have much of a problem pulling that off as long as the rides are open
I went once. And I am glad it was free to get in. We went during the week thinking it would be slower and get more ride time. True it was slow but every a/c was broken, all the stores, the bathroom, the restaurants... It was miserable. We left before going on all the rides due to feeling heat sickness. They do need new rides and some updates.
That ending: YES LOL
3:11 Expert and Expert+ on Beat Saber in a nutshell
I live right up the road from the park and I really love the Superman coaster and Batwing is great (as noted, when it works) but overall the park succeeds in being "OK" and convenient. The water park has some good enough stuff as well. The Christmas event is, however, pretty enjoyable for a nice evening. This Six Flags almost feels like a utility park, like a fancier Dutch Wonderland, that has a great location and it's worked from Wild Safari to Wild World to Adventure World to Six Flags so I don't doubt it's successful/profitable, there's just much better parks close enough by.
All in all, I generally direct people to Hershey or Busch Gardens and to a lesser extent King's Dominion for "local" theme parks. Cedar Point or Six Flags Great America are also close enough for extended weekends. Great video though!

LOVED this! I had to laugh when even the Freestyle machine was broken. Why? A local grocery store has one and it is ALWAYS broken, because supposedly the machines are hand-built and it's nearly impossible to get parts for them. SFA is my home park. In the early years (1999-2003) I would get super excited during the Summer because I knew our mother would buy Season Passes and we'd go at least once a week. I haven't been to Six Flags in 14 yrs. It's sad to see that it looks far worse than it did when it first started getting neglected (around 2005-07). It's not that the park itself is a lost cause. It's that the corporate has neglected this specific location for over a decade now. And it has deteriorated into a ghost town as a result.
I had a chance to go there last year on a school field trip to Washington DC, and on the way back we would hit up six flags America. But I didn’t go lol

Charge you $110 at the door when its only $35 online.
I went to that place as Wild World. Then I had a season pass when it became Six Flags America back in 1999 and i would go once or twice a week. The pass was $48. Six Flags actually added many coasters after it's takeover. I remember a magic show that ended with a woman being impaled by a sword. I use to duck into that theater whenever I wanted to sit. When it got hot I'd go over to the waterpark. I still have a key to one of the lockers I use to use all the time. 20 years ago the rides were much more reliable. Things were rarely down. It looks like they've not updated anything since then and the place is poorly maintained. Looks like the exact same place.
Thanks for the review! Brought back allot of good memories!
