I used to teach test spraying in my paint clinics! Top tip : most hardeners have a shelf life once opened, if air has ever been introduced to the container it starts to spoil just like some canned foods! I used to refrigerate mine after opening, sometimes that didn’t help. Might get a month or two longer out of it! You also may try reducing your clear a little more and strain it, it’s looks like a lot of dirt was in the clear! Your stripe masking technique is spot on! Nice ! I sand the tape edges down with at least 600 grit sandpaper, that tape is designed to be lightly sanded to seal perfectly. Trying these things hopefully helps you improve your outcome! I haven’t built or painted anything for years however the basics still apply! Neat video, very informative indeed! Thanks for sharing! 😎✌️🫡🇺🇸

I always use a spare hood or styrene for a test piece before l lay down the next coat just to be sure its going to work. We all run into this but its usually rare. It sure was looking good!

I should test more instead of just assuming that it will work because I've done it before.

Thank you fur showing your setback! I’m using a new paint and getting crazy orange peel! I have gotten it down to just one small area now, but it’s a VERY prominent area! Lol. Anyways, I’ve got a little more paint left, I’ll knock it back to primer in that one spot and try to blend it with the rest of the model….either way it’s a GREAT learning experience!

That clear could be saved with some minor color sanding. I've saved lumpier clear than that which turned out beautiful. You sand off the splatters, level it out and shoot another thin wet coat. Can't believe he dumped into stripper.

I actually thought about trying to sand and polish it out but knowing how much work that was going to be, I opted to start over. I didn't think about shooting another coat of clear after the sanding. I will try that next time. Thanks for the tip.

Yes, frustrating when you have made such progress. For me, I just dislike having to repeat things. But, one thing this hobby will teach you is patience.

You are definitely a mainstay to watch! What do you use for a spray area / booth when your airbrushing?

Thank you. For my spray booth I use the Micro Mark booth.

@@ScaledDownCustoms Thank you so very much for answering. I'm in the market for a new one and I hated the idea of having to vent. I paint in the garage )I live in California )and didn't want to have to run a vent pipe. I saw that you didn't have any fan drawing the back. You are always so thorough to watch and I enjoy explanations on everything you do. This could be the perfect air booth for me because I like it can be vented back out into the garag. I'm a fan of your builds. Look forward to everything coming!
