ALWAYS THE ISSUE WITH THESE PLACES IS NOT THE BUY PRICE BUT THE MAINTENANCE COSTS! - one day, when I get hold of that fortune it is my turn to inherit, then I'll have fun looking over all the many hundreds of castle properties for sale ! You know they are a problem by the sheer number of them for sale in the first place !
That's unfortunately true with most of these properties on sale. However, you can also find great deals on castles that just went through renovation! The cost is, no surprise, little higher compared to ones in really bad condition.
I look at the prices... it's the price of my 3 bedroom in California... yes but... the sale price is like the down payment. The maintenance, the heating bill, the taxes... Also those castles are usually in pretty desolate places. If you think about turning it into a hotel or a rental think twice. There is nothing there. I think the big upswing is thanks to COVID people working from home, All you need is a good internet connection.
Seems to be pretty common that people that do invest, apart from generally being rich and have an income to support repairs, ongoing maintenance, but to support all of that they generally have to turn the residence into some form of business. There's often so much disrepair and the general operational costs (even if they only live in a small section of the castle) is still astronomical (millions) plus if you want to turn it into a business in the first place you need to take care of a decent chunk of these issues to not only get the place up to code, but to also justify the business so that the castle can reach a standard that justifies said businesses existence - for example, somewhere to hold weddings, bed and breakfast/bespoke hotel experience kind of business, seem to be very common.
Think I'd rather just find a castle to go to as a holiday destination and stay for the weekend (I'd probably get over the novelty pretty quickly) rather than having the headache and bank account drain that these properties generally are.
🤔 *seems castles are nice... yet maybe the new rich will now prefer a modern property, consider the maintenance cost, accessibility/location, income generating and the profit...*
You' know nothing......there are hundreds of castles for sale in france alone for under $700,000.......so why do you feature these overpriced properties, unless you know nothing about the real world of chateaux.....and it shows!
I thought that it was younger, also. I am in US and love the chateau restoration videos, but I've wondered about a lot the restorations. I would love for you to create a site of Chateau history, architecture, old kitchen setup, etc. All about Chateaus. It would be fun to have a main source for info., such as "How and Where to Buy a Chateau." You could write a book, actually. It's all fantasy for those of us who would have to win a huge lottery to buy a Chateau, but I wuld watch your videos and buy your book. The organization of a restoration is one subject that anyone who buys any house could benefit from. Please seriously consider becoming the go to person on chateau purchase and restoration. It's a space waiting to be filled.

Getting rich through inheritance is not honorable, I guess that’s what kings did tho 😂
@@thornil2231 Well, The heritage palace is literally just 5 mins away from the City of Torres Novas and 1 hour from Lisbon...

0:49 “it’s now a historic monument.” Oh, great, I buy it but can’t modify its exterior 4-ever.
There's no way the first one was built in the 11th century. That's a 1700s or 1800s chateau.
Renovations can do miracles 🔥
Most of them have 18th-19th century updates !
Did you not hear what she said right after or did you just stop the video to make your comment? Geeze
@@stevieg6418 lmfaoooo that selective hearing.

Where i can find the first castle in burgundy, France ? Site pls ?
In Burgundy.
@@thornil2231 I asking where i can found the castle in Burgundy and you answering me "in Burgundy".. You must be intelligent.
Where are they
Too bad there aren't links to the listings...
People call them abandoned place. But an investor will call this ‘an investment’. Whoever who left this for many years empty is a good investor.
pourquoi des commentaires toujours en anglais , surtout pour des châteaux en France .
Maintanance : 🌝
These places might be haunted. 😂

Well is something is "FOR SALE", I'm sure you could "ACTUALLY BUY" it!
Your title is so stupid!
cool, declared national monument - that means you cant repair it to modern standard or change it in any way.
