Great video, the only thing id like to mention is you read your 6mm allen socket upside down as a 9 when taking off the crack pulley lol. Thanks for the video
There is misfire i would suggeste engine is not running properly scan it for the faults I think it broke and bend slightly valves Good luck Also Good job anyway
Mine had misfires on all cylinders w check engine light flashing & loss of power… replaced ignition coil (there is only one w the 4 cylinder thats why all 4 cylinders showed faults) … so far its working great! Also recently replaced the spark plugs.
@@2EZEverything I managed to get it off with a little leverage. The only thing that was a little tricky after that was the rad hose clip but once you get past that things move pretty quick
@@BbyBackMosquitoRibsglad you said that, I’m at 97k miles and was stressing out because VW recommended a timing belt replacement at 75k. Glad to know I got another 40k miles 😂
Yes it snapped running, it is my neighbors car, they haven’t had any issues with it other than the starter going out about a month ago but the engine smoothed out a bit after a while

I’ll have to look at that! Thanks!

Good video. Something still seems wrong with the engine when you start it up.
Good job
Thank you!
Which engine is this?
How’d you get the harmonic balancer off, it seems like the bolt in the middle is holding mine on or something
The bolt in the center needs to come off it is a 13/16 socket

15:20 not sure if I missed it in the video but where did you get the parts from
Autozone
How many miles did this engine have on it when you changed the belt?
140,000
Lmao… I’m at 140,568. Going to do the replacement tomorrow. Thanks for the video, super hard to find repair videos on this car!
@@BbyBackMosquitoRibs thanks for watching! Let us know how it goes for you.
Mine has 92k and it's in the shop now for this 😭 I'm debating doing it myself and saving the 500$ in labor

Good video, great commentary! Very useful!! 👍 For sure
Thank you
Is this an interference engine?
Yes
You definitely tap a couple valves that’s running really rough
It ended up quitting down, my neighbor still drives it to this day.
Sounds bad like valve interference or bend valve ..the belt snaps runing? You are in problems if not? Timming is wrong calibrated

Does the crank have timing marks? I dont see any on mine
Yes there is a small mark on the crank pulley that you can align it with
Nope pull spark plug 1 stick something in when the piston is at the very top its the correct spot then just line the camshaft marks and all good
Good chance your valves impacted the pistons and aren’t fully closing. You may want to replace the valves in the future.
The car’s idle smoothed out without doing anything, it’s my neighbor’s car and they drive it everyday with no complaints.
@@2EZEverythinggreat to hear!
Bro please tell me how much does that cost
Parts or labor?
❤🎉😊
