None of this is awkward its just being British
Yes, being British is inherently awkward
In Argentina there’s also a bake off program, and it’s so awkward (and cringy) to watch too
So are we not gonna talk about the guy who managed to slice both his thumbs and mistake salt for sugar all in the same episode?
Or the dude who sliced his hand and ended up with a glove full of blood and ended up being carted off
Oh Toby
Poor Toby.
@@traytrayland2279 John Whaite--AND he was the winner that series.
@@sazfretz1945 exactly! They could have just done a bonus for all the salt mix ups. I swear another contestant did it with bagels or something and so his bake was tiny and Paul ended up spitting it out.
Wtf why are people getting upset about someone sitting in a fridge for 10 seconds for a joke😂
Basically, because parents are very protective.
Before fridges got magnetic door seals they commonly used to have a lock-close door that snapped firmly shut and couldn’t be opened from the inside, at least once someone got trapped inside one and died and that has resulted in the common belief that climbing into fridges is fatal.
Even though most fridges are relatively safe now they are still air tight spaces with thick and heavy self sealing doors, small children still might not be strong enough to open one from the inside, nor be heard calling for help, so it’s still not a safe place to play.
The thought of finding your child suffocated because they copied something funny is pretty upsetting.
Ever since a Very Special Episode of Punky Brewster, I’ve been hyper-conscious of the dangers of refrigerators.
@@Lumibear. okay but also most people don't have empty fridges in their house - and bake off is probably meant for people above the age of thinking of going into a fridge
@Justin Nold um.....why
@@beckhamemmitt8523 why would you hack anyones account!?
don’t forget that one week when matt said that prue was having a “pruegasm”...
omg that was so awkward i had to rewind to see if i heard that right
I’ve totally understood Ian’s reaction, I would have done exactly the same. Also, I was very surprised that they didn’t clarified the situation at the end, all very mysterious
They actually did clarify what happended. He acctually messed up his ice cream the first time so even if she hadn't removed it, improbably would not have had time to freeze. Also it was in her freezer so after his tantrum the judges thought it was best for him to go home
@@willowbrookes3290 BS. That cake was liquid. It was much longer than 40 seconds. Both he and several other contestants agree his cake was not that melted or it wouldn't have been able to go in the freezer in the first place.
I was so totally upset what she had done. She should have been removed not him. She knew exactly what she was doing. Tried to use the excuse it was her freezer. NOT. Everyone else used any freezer they wanted. I felt she should have been let go.
Thought Noel in the fridge was hilarious..people need to calm down!
It's his style of comedy, he always walks the line of awkward and hilarious, and I always think it's brilliant because it's always fully intentional
Yeah. Get in that fridge and chill!
What exactly were people upset about? I don’t get the problem
@@katiee2682 Something about it being unsafe, I think, but I'm not sure.i just thought it was funny
Maybe a disclaimer « Don’t try this at home, kids » would have helped ?
While Ian throwing his baked Alaska away was a bad idea I will always feel that Diana should have been disqualified from the competition that week and sent home. She adversely affected another contestants final product. I have not read the rules but I suspect that there is something in there about messing with other people’s product
She was disqualified from the competition and never came back on after that. She "left" due to health issues or some sort of other issues. I was furious about that tbh
I just watched this season and I was fuming!
I agree but my big question has always been WHY the hell was Ian's in her freezer?
@@nickowl128 I don't recall the source but I read, having watched the episode recently, behind the screens, a few freezers they had on a set broke the morning of filming so it forced people to share. I think 2 people share a freezer normally but when there are breakdowns, more people need access to a single freezer.
If accurate, I blame the BBC.
From what I’ve read, it became established it couldn’t have been out of the freezer for note than 45 seconds. His ice cream was doomed to fail from the beginning because of the sesame
I mean the premise of Bake Off is the most wholesome on the planet because it is nice people baking nice foods but like it is just one of the best and most entertaining and at time the least wholesome shows ever. It's so much fun and i love it a lot.
Same. I feel like it is so much better than American cooking shows. They're so mean and don't help one another. Bake off contestants are happy to assist one another.
@@BaileySweet7 I was trying to figure out what the big difference is and I think it's because the contestants on this show are just there for the honor of having won (and one glass cake plate). The American shows all have to put in cash prizes and people just get mean and ugly then.
The spray of cooking oil is hilarious
I would have kept some habenero oil around that was labeled as wine. That'll teach them to quit messing.
😂😂😂
Poor Howard, they need to give him another go or invite him to a holiday special. Such a nice, sweet guy and bad things kept happening to him...elbow mush, CustardGate. Bring Howard back!
Yeah, the comic relief talent need to quit messing with the bakers. I would have been pretty blunt in telling them to stay away.
My favorite skit in the entire show is Noel telling Sandi they have to "go back to the future" because Prue is about to tweet that year's winner. She took it on the nose like a champ
Why they so mad about him being in the fridge ffs 😂
Are you really that stupid? Do you not understand that children may be watching this and think that it might be funny to hide in the fridge because they saw a comedian do it on TV? Once inside the fridge the child may not be able to get out due to the way the doors close. The fridge is air tight and therefore a child can suffocate before too long.
@@ForceFreeTrainergirl06 are you serious? 😂
@@ForceFreeTrainergirl06 Fridges don’t lock closed like they used to, it’d be easy for a child to push it open.
@@ForceFreeTrainergirl06 If a parent has a completely empty fridge (for some reason) in their house that locks from the outside when closed (again, for some reason), they've pretty much got this coming
Did people genuinely get mad or is this video blowing one or two complaints out of proportion?
And I'm sorry but if your kid sees this and locks itself in your fridge then not only should you as a parent be paying more attention to the child but also you must have a pretty big fridge. And a completely empty big fridge at that. Which says to me that you are about style over substance, and probably not even fit to have a kid.
Yes I'm overreacting😅but I am just trying to match those complaining about the incident in the first place.
Noel sitting in a fridge isn't awkward, it's hilarious 🙃
Actually, it's neither.
You don't hear about it so much anymore but back when I was a child you often heard about kids exploring around old junk yards and finding old, junked refrigerators to play hide and seek in. The old doors could only be opened from the outside and children would get locking in and suffocate. It happened fairly often. Seeing him in there immediately brought back those days when kids had it preached to them over and over - NEVER get inside a refrigerator!
@@mamiebobb4173 Oh! I never knew that! 😮
@@BeeRich33 That's just my opinion 🤗
@@mamiebobb4173 I never knew that, I was wondering why it was such a problem . Thank you for telling us !
We need a list of all the things Noel has broken on the show 😂
the time he was playing the drums with some wooden spoons and a teacup and he smashed it 😂
@@jessicakaemery my favorite
@@jessicakaemery best ever 😂
If he had not thrown his ice cream in the bin he probably would have made it through 😂
Exactly!
Yeah like other people have given the judges melted ice cream before
Actually I saw somewhere recently that he would have gone home anyway because he did something wrong in his recipe earlier that would have made the ice cream bad even if it did freeze
For real. The middle of it was set, but he decided to throw a hissy. 🤷🏼♀️
Fun fact… the day the brownie episode aired, I made brownies. I actually forgot about the episode, but explains why I had a craving for brownies that day.
In case anyone is interested, my brownies turned out well and was eaten within a couple of hours by everyone
Thats because they had one additional ingredient,.....extreme pressure. I do love me some homemade brownies though.
Apart from Dave’s cake accident, none of these were really ‘cringey’ but rather funny. Come on now.
Agreed. There has been actual cringe moments and none of them are here.
Others seemed quite normal
Dave’s cakes being knocked off was shocking 😮
Who’s complaining about someone being in a fridge, other than Jeffery Dahmer’s neighbours?
Every parent of a small child.
@@larrysmith2638 so? This isn't a kid's show. I'm sick of parents being so stupid.
I mean, between Custardgate and Bingate, Custardgate feels more like a genuine accident then Bingate.
Often wonder about the brownie challenge since how could they all mess it up?
Because they all tried to make them fancy and unusual. Stupid move. They really did look like idiots for that. My 7 yr old niece could do better.
The brownies were so embarassing to watch. Like you shouldn't even be on Bake Off if you can't make a brownie!
I wasn't sure how popular brownies are in the UK? I know my English roomie did say UK brownies are way different than American, of course that means very little when it comes to just following a recipe on a baking show.
In their defense, I can bake lovely cakes, pies & pastries alike, but I can not for the life of me bake brownies.
@@allisonyoung9371 me too, I'm 16 and bake cakes and biscuits for my part time job (supposedly well my boss says). I,can not bake a brownie to save my life however xD
You saw what incredible things they baked that year. They overthought it and panicked. They can bake fabulously
@@allisonyoung9371 hahah brownies is the only thing I have mastered tbh
He got in the fridge for like 5 seconds for a joke, Jesus people calm down 🤣🤣🤣
You're an idiot. Little kids don't make that distinction. Kids have actually died this way.
Now that's good television.
The "dip my nuts" is absolutely classic. I crack up every time.
And Paul's retort, "certainly not in caramel ".
It was the timing with fridge cos that morning in the news a young lady in the u.s was found dead in a freezer. Also the old fridges shut and locked which couldn't be open up from the inside
But also bake off is filmed months in advance....
Mate the muffin one got me
So Noel was in a refrigerator...? What’s so outrageous about that? They’re comedians for gods sake.
'Elbowed the muffin' is a common phrase in my household, thanks to that moment.
I love Paul and Mel laughing so hard. He was bright red.
These aren’t awkward they’re hilarious and I can watch them over and over again
Honestly, Noel in the fridge was a hoot - sense of humour please!
What even was that brownie challenge!? I must confess I didn't hold much hope for the series as I watched that!
They're constantly told to push the envelope. This is why the simplest dishes often fail.
Noel in the fridge was hilarious, it was a prop fridge and not one used for the baking.
Ppl need to get over themselves
Little kids don't know the difference, and lots of people have a second, mostly empty fridge in the garage or basement for daddy's beer.
I literally couldn’t even watch Ian dumping his baked Alaska into the bin in this video I had to skip forward lmao.....so so awkward
Girl…. I do not believe you mistook that custard 😂
The guy who put his icing in the oven (tennis cake) is a memorable one. Definitely awkward
Dave’s cakes being knocked onto the floor was shocking. Not seen that one 😮
Of all the shows to subvert the 'Women In Refrigerators' trope, who'd have thought it would be Bake Off?
Btw any clips with Lottie in are welcome.
Feeling extra lucky today, so I decided to share some of my luck with you. 🍀 Well done
Loved Noel. Bring him back!!!!!
What do you mean? He hasn’t left?
Hes still there🤔
Bring him back??? What do you mean? He’s still on the show!
Always love that, offcom received numerous complaints, which usually mean 10 people.
Im an American and I love this show! Wish full episodes were on CZcams!
I'm american too. You can see some of the seasons on Netflix but not all of them. They start the first year noel and sandi were on. I wish we could see the seasons before that, but I've watched the ones on Netflix repeatedly and never get tired of it
I love the humor in this show, intentional and otherwise!
I don't think Diana set out to sabotage Iain's Baked Alaska, but it was an awful thing to happen. I understood his frustration, and I didn't mind that she didn't return. Sorry, not sorry.
She showed no remorse. I have always suspected that the producers told her she was out, and the "I'll health" line was just an excuse.
So many innuendos? Oh come on. Noel saying about a jug "is that big enough" is an innuendo? I think people really have to be desperate to find anything even slightly risque in that or indeed anything else that the commentators want to think is an innuendo.
You obviously haven't watched this show. This clip didn't even show the tip of the iceberg. Lots of sexual innuendo.
What's so irresponsible about being in a fridge?
A few decades ago kids used to hide in them when playing and some ended up dying trapped inside as a result.
This is why fridge doors are now magnetic, they used to be on a latch which is how the children would end up trapped inside
While it’s not something that would likely happen today, it’s still not good to joke about something that caused many families to lose their children
People just create problems out of nothing. It was blatantly obvious he was doing a gag and there was nothing sinister about it.
@@t4yyib_iq Little kids don't understand that, you idiot.
@matt allen Good for them. Lot of kids don't know the difference. Geez, you people.
@Larry Smith calm down hun, it’s not that deep, if you do your job properly, you know, be a parent, then teach your kids not to copy. Simple. Get over yourself...Geez you people, so sensitive 🤡
If this is awkward then the whole series is awkward. I watch it and like it
WAIT --- People were actually furious he did a 10 sec bit from inside a fridge? What, bored much?!? It's called comedy people, deal with it. Baking doesn't have to be the boring thing you grewup with.
Bruh are u serious? They're getting mad at noel's little fridge joke? Some ppl are way too comfortable in life 🙄 do they realize there are actual problems in the world?
Yes, like little kids suffocating in old refrigerators. My little nephew would definitely try that if his mom didn't child proof the fridge.
@@larrysmith2638 That's why you child-proof things in your house and/or explain to them why getting into a fridge is stupid. There are jokes about everything in the world, and it's always going to be at AT LEAST one person or group's expense. If you start slashing any joke that offends any person, you lose humor.
It’s such a shame that Mel left she was my fave out of the two
Hated those two. Always touching the bakers' stuff and screwing things up. And genuinely not funny.
You’re not funny@@larrysmith2638
I don’t think it’s funny when they messed with the bakers things. Noel and Sandi/Matt/Allison have never done that. They just make comedic moments while letting the bakers do their work.
Joanna Lumely's cake omg 😂😂
I thought the fridge was funny, what's to get upset about. Love the show
Little kids don't know the potential danger. Geez, use your brain.
Noel is so cute
As soon as I soon the thumbnail I though mmmm foodddddd
Noel makes everything awkward 😂
I love this show!!!
I feel bad for Iain
4:00 how is being in the fridge dangerous? Theres 20 plus people there and the girl opened the door.
How is sitting in a fridge dangerous and out raging?! Omg you need to calm tf down 😂
A kid can ( and did, in several cases) suffocate because they couldn't open it from the inside. Are you stupid?
@@larrysmith2638 Um maybe the parents should watch their kids? You uneducated nonce.
@@hellurgoodbur8230 Ever try watching kids 24/7? Dumbshit.
@@larrysmith2638 Well being a parent is very difficult.. but you have the ultimate responsibility to look after and take care of them. And if you're not child proofing your house, watching them etc etc... maybe you should of spat instead of swallowed you dumb fuck 😊
@@larrysmith2638 Are you a parent?
Why were people mad about Noel being in a fridge ?
What's the big deal about Noel hiding in the fridge???

You are the one being stupid thinking that an urban myth is real.
-watching... Realizes- Nooo the Custard! Nooooo
I’m still pissed that they posted a picture of the Season 8 winner on Instagram! They posted it on a Wednesday but it doesn’t air in the US until Friday! 😞
I also want to throw in when Paul told Nadiya "Don't lose your rag" which I would think is an offensive play off but of course when your the competitor you have to laugh it off.
But "Don't lose your rag" is an extremely common saying? How is it offensive? It just means don't lose your temper...
@@thecowardlydragon3982 I've always heard "Don't lose your head" never rag. Different places use different terminology if you've heard it all the time and I haven't. I still think it was offensive to say that to Nadiya, they haven't shown any footage of him saying the same thing to other competitors.
No it is an extremely common expression in the UK and Ireland. If you are not from here you wouldnt get it x It was not offensive at all. Not even a tiny bit. People from the US or Mainland Europe wouldnt realize that its so common to say here. It has nothing to do with the fact she wears hijab.
@@iDontCareAtAllllllll just cause it had nothing to do with her hijab doesn't mean it wasn't cringe. he didnt say it on purpose in an attempt to offend her, but it was unfortunate turn of phrase. sort of like saying 'you've got a short fuse' to someone who is very short, but with the added awkwardness of the connection to a racist phrase rather than just a feature some people are self conscious about
Dear God, no one can say anything nowadays. Some people just live to be offended.
This is just people being English-
But wtf is wrong with someone sitting in a fridge
On days I’d get hot at the restaurant I worked at I’d stand in the fridge all the time....when I worked at a hospital and got overheated I went to the morgue
i don’t think noel’s fridge thing was awkward or “bad” in any way,,,, some of his jokes have been kinda … though
A man sitting in a fridge makes the brits mad?? They really are somthing else
Didn’t Boris do that too?
Well to be fair it was one of the old fridges and way back when, kids used to do that and get stuck inside and some even died due to it. They didnt want people copying him. Generation gap I think.
Well, go sit in one to prove the brits wrong and time how long it takes you to suffocate. We’ll wait.
@@Lumibear. relax, It was a bit for a tv show. If your worried about kids imitating, educate them on the dangers, it's really not that deep
@@Sage-cs1bm yes because refrigerator death isnt/wasnt a real thing that happened enough that they had to make specialist kids show episodes on it and kids always listen to what thier parents say instead of trying to imitate people they find cool on the tv. And it totally didnt take until fridges worked on magnetic locks instead stop the deaths.
I’m sorry but what happened in custard-gate? I’m really confused
I was as well had to search it up. They didn't explain it.
Imagine calling this awkward. In the Netherlands wed call it amusement... LOL
Paul needs to stop looking at me like that
awkward moment #1 : Noel trying to help
I’ve never watched the earlier seasons of GBBO, so I’m not sure what Sue and Mel were really like, but from what I’ve seen, they wanted to be involved, and by that I mean too involved. At least Noel and the hosts he hosted along with never did that.
God that Alaska one that was so bad
The ice cream/freezer incident should have been number one.
Where does Noel get his fabulous blouses
I think most of them are from lazy oaf :)
@@eviesharp17 thank you! Just viewed their website and I love it!
I feel bad for Iains ice cream
can someone explain "custardgate"? I didnt understand what happened there
She somehow accidentally used Howard's custard in her dessert, and by the looks of it, her custard (the one opward had to use) wasn't very good, a bit too runny etc
Bartender show... Have her fill a cup 🍶 with her sweet juices and put it in the Blender with some ice and make a special type Frozen Margarita using her juice..... Maybe a little sugar around the rim
If she didn't have her blinder on she would've been able to see him standing behind from her peripheral.
Ok, none of these are shocking or all that awkward. The comedic hosts are there to do weird, funny, and supportive things.
Baked Alaska- gate was a scandal at the time
Noel in tbe fridge offended people👀. If thats the case how do they watch anything on tv? Some people just live to be offended!
I shudder when I realize Sue and Mel won’t be there….
This is a terrible list. There have been SO many bad innuendoes and “controversies” on the show. And they think some of these are the TOP?
Wait like what?
Bake off should not of gone to channel four from BBC one .
They look like a load of pretty terrible bakers. I think i could try my hand at that and I have never baked anything in my life.
ok I love it
Nice
Lol
I’m still mad about bingate lol
It’s so annoying that lady should have been kicked off
TBH I think Diana did sabotaj it
Ok i dont why people are mad about the fridge HOWEVER, i do not think noel is as funny as he is awkward. I miss the old seasons with mel and sue tbh
Luv was the fridge even on? Calm down
It's like her flavor Snow cone
I don't understand the custard gate. What happened? You didn't even explain it.
The woman accidentally used the man’s custard
eating gingerbread carpet from the gingerbread showstopper S4 ? Anybody ?
Last year how they treated Jürgen in the German week was quite a scandal. Fans of have called Matt Lucas and Noel Fielding "rude" and "insulting" on Twitter after they mimicked a German accent several times during the show's first German week. Matt Lucas in particular was criticized by many viewers for his "casual racism". It was hard to watch.
What?! That’s nuts! I’ve watched that episode several times and never heard something like that!
It’s not awkward it’s just funny
I suspected z couple of the contestants were sabatoged. One contestant on a boiling hot day whose ice cream was removed from the freezer end left on the counter. No way thst was an accident. The other was the young man those I ingredients kept disappearing. One could happen twice kinds suspicious third time someone dnedking around with meaness in their hearts. Figuring out who did it should not be hsrd. The icecream ssbator was apparently a conrstant named Diana who was sent home due to poor heslth.
I think the humor is funny and fine around grown ups. I’ve been watching the Jr. version recently and was caught off guard and shocked at the innuendos by the host. I don’t have kids and have a pretty raunchy sense of humor and still found it cringe.
Laura laughing at that was awful. Not a fan of hers, she shouldn't have been in the final. Loved Mel, wish she had stayed and been with Noel.
none of these are really awkward lol.
