When you said "twitter was a huge part of my psyche," that really shook me. I'm 31, and social media didn't even exist until I was about 15. Even then, it didn't exist in the capacity that it exists today until I was already in my 20's. It's frightening to imagine how the internet is shaping human interaction and empathy, especially with people starting at such a young age. Social media is absolute reality distorting poison. I honestly wish that every young person would try living the way we lived in the 90's as a social experiment, if only for like a month or so, at some point in their lives. Just exist with no distractions, and no connection to the digital world. You'll quickly see how that changes human interaction and general perception of life. There wasn't really any open hostility towards one another like today(moral puritanism was the minority). In some cases, you could have grown up with someone and known them for years, yet still didn't know their every opinion. And the beauty of it is that nobody really cared to know, unless things somehow came up organically in conversation, which was rare except in very close relationships! Friendships weren't contingent upon having the right opinions, but even if you did have a few shitty opinions, it was almost unheard of to be socially exiled for it. It's like the dehumanization of social media has eroded empathy to the extent that people don't think twice about severing decade long friendships. Idk, sorry to ramble! But I'm always happy to see a young person speaking about this. Can't wait tp see your channel blow up!

Social media existed before then. It existed in the form of places like LiveJournal, which was the true birthplace of the 'social justice warrior' mentality that moved to places like tumblr and Dreamwidth following LiveJournal's sale to a Russian company, which began to abide by Russian laws and Russian users over other demographics. Dreamwidth is still active today, but exists for people to roleplay and to fight about roleplaying. tumblr is really where this SJW mentality took hold, and after they became emboldened there, moved to Twitter.
LiveJournal, FYI, started in the 1990s.

@@nachgeben this was a great addition to a fascinating original post. I grew up in the '90's and remember taking the subway 3 hours just to spend 7 hours with my friends eating cheap Chinese food, playing video games and arguing about rap music. When we were in elementary school, we were taught that "we could change the world" and that "it was our duty to perpetually fight for justice." This created an entire generation of SJWs with no war or battles: we grew up with a black Supreme Court Justice, top black entertainers and athletes, black astronauts, and then we even got a black president. BUT, just as we were about to turn the corner to reach the top of the mountain top MLK told us he dreamed about, SJWs, race grifters and guilt riddled liberals dragged us all back to base camp so they could buy a few more homes in Calabasas.

But from my experience the extreme right are die-hard libertarian and the ones that are depicted as extreme right are actually die-hard lefties. The ideologies of fascism and communism are of the same accord and splitting them into right or left was done purposefully to reject populism as one of the moral virtues the left espouse. In so doing, the left can now adopt the virtue of "inclusion" for the purpose of larger voter blocks. I rejected the left's ideology (though it was quite appealing as a young person) when I saw the reality of those "virtues" played out. High crime, high unemployment, high inequality. omg same, I just quit about 2 days ago. I really cannot bear it anymore. Its filled with STUPID people whose personality is just to scrounge celebrities’ pasts just to find something to hate so they can “cancel” them. They find the littlest things to be “offensive” and “racist”. It was super exhausting and I personally felt sick seeing all the hate and bullying there is on that app. Everyone is literally a hypocrite- cancelling celebs for something they found “offensive” but at the same time they were also bullying and body shaming people... stan accounts are literally acting way worse than the people they are trying to cancel. I’ve came to realize that stan twitter is just a bunch of 14-20 year olds thinking that they are morally good all the time and having no idea how real life works. I could go on and on about how much I hate stan Twitter lmao its literally one of my worst nightmares. It took such a huge toll on my mental health (would literally ruin my mood and day). I feel so much better now without all its negativity.

She'd tell me how she would scroll through Twitter for hours and hours on end, and it's become a really unhealthy habit of hers. Her behavior changed negatively and I could see how she would react to certain occurrences, and always had a bad temper after she downloaded that wretched app. She's become this toxic being absorbed into media to where I couldn't even recognize her anymore. @@marymitchell4617 As someone who used to work in graphic design, I can tell you that you are reading too much into it. A logo/icon needs to be reproducible at various scales, and small details can suffer at small scales, especially on screens. Design is also often driven by fashion as much as necessity, and we have clearly seen a trend towards abstraction in the past decade. Just consider the switch from “skeuomorphic” to plain geometric, flat shapes and textures in the iPhone interface. Anyway, I agree with you somewhat on the actual problems with social media; I used to spend a lot of time on Facebook and later Twitter, but have stopped using both during the last year as things have become so politicised.

I have never thought less of them because they are darker than me but now racism is "trending"
