I am officially angry at American leftists after watching everybody fail to advocate for Congo. I thought black lives mattered? I thought slavery was wrong? I thought black suffering needed to come to an end?? Above all else, I thought we were responsible for seeking out information about oppression on our own. I've been watching American leftists ignore 'free Congo' comments and fail to educate themselves on where their smartphones come from since November last year, and if I point it out, I get called a yt supremacist. I cannot unsee the selfishness, the hypocrisy, the nationalism, and the racism. For that reason, I no longer have patience for the mental gymnastics.

I"m a Gen-X woman. I knew one millennial woke woman in her 20's, we were co-workers at a retirement home serving food. She put down and insulted every man in our department. I stood-up for those men and told her she had lowered herself down to every man in history who had insulted women and harmed women by acting the way she was. The only thing she dd was grin, chuckle, and say "I don't care" over and over. She didn't last long there.

In my opinion, we need to return back to natural ethnicity and stop using Black and White as race, that is racism. That shows the US is racist. Let alone the racist laws or social racism. Whites are Europeans therefore they are European Americans, not White. Blacks are Native Americans. Immigrants are not Black they have a nationality. Therefore if we return back to our original nationality racism will slowly die because it difficult to change the heart of man racist who values racism. At least we will destroy the language the rest will follow.

Much of the concern over so called race differences is centered around the prejudice (or perceived prejudice) against dark skin (colorism and shadeism). Why does that happen? We’ve heard the narratives about darker skinned people historically being the downtrodden workers, while the privileged fair skinned lived indoors. Is that really it? Rings hollow to me. It’s been shown in implicit attribute tests. Why the prejudice against dark skin exist even in the brains of progressives? Is it some tick we all can’t get rid of, or is there something deeper going on? Like neurologically deeper. Our very languaging link blackness and darkness with badness and that’s what gets internalized, as well as our languaging of the subconscious mind. Why do we all keep denying this? Why don’t neuroscientists dig deeper into this? Can we get some more fmri studies of non western cultures to address this? It’s like we are all being played.

I love videos about Cuba who, maybe intentionally, say nothing about the US embargo against Cuba. Stating the bad things about Cuba without historical context. For a system, that is so apperently so broken and bad, an complete embargo is really needed? How should the health care system be good when they cant trade any pharmacy with the rest of the world? How can there be any social and political process when the country is constantly pressured from outside? The UN and the rest of the world, except Israel (ironic isnt it), all voted for the end of this embargo. But Daddy USA prefers to destroy the lifes of so many people in Cuba. And US citizens even have the audacity to praise the US and demonize Cuba??? WTF

Actually that image was making a point about people who genuinely were at a disadvantage, not racial stereotypes. But I take your point, yes rigging a system in favour of a group on the basis of the delusional belief that if they weren't they wouldn't be able to make it due to either an inheritant setback or to other people's alleged bigotry, is patronising. But that's society: they conflate things because its easier that than actually taking the time and investing the energy to get to know people on an individual level.

Not merely "the more you 'know,' the more you see." Also, "the more you think you know, the more you see what you expect." Expectations are powerful and no one is altogether immune to the cognitive distortion mind reading. "There's a lot of opportunity to INTERPRET things as racism" (emphasis mine). Ah, so not surprisingly you get it. :-] Obviously, some actions by some people are sometimes influenced race. How often, genuinely, that's the potential poison.

A classic human failing is "seeing" what we expect to see. When we're told something is everywhere all the time, we see it everywhere all the time. It's human nature at every level of intelligence. For example, if we're told often enough rudeness is everywhere all the time, that's what we see. Even when it often isn't rudeness we're seeing. Works just as well for racism. Our current education system and popular media relentlessly imply racism (and several other isms) is everywhere all the time. We hear implications it's baked into America, a vast ever-present feature of the country. Among the recent, destructive implications in support of such thinking is that if there's ANY possibility an action or utterance was based on racism, then it MUST have been based on racism. Not a drop of evidence required. So, because we're told to, we see racism everywhere all the time. And since we believe we're seeing it, we think, "Hey they were right! It IS everywhere all the time!" That results in the belief becoming so deeply held it's incredibly difficult to reconsider, to ever change one's mind. A circular expectation-perception-belief trap. We're stuck. But you did escape that trap. It takes exceptional humility, self-reflection, and open-mindedness to do that. Your obviously substantial intellect helps, but isn't enough alone. Kudos. Would that there were more like you. That and other related, recently popular ideas of the past two decades in particular are doing terrible damage. These ideologies (religions?) are generating tremendous unjustified resentment, distrust, pessimism and division.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being woke in the sense of being aware of the inequalities of the world. The issue is how people deal with inequalities and how they allow the inequalities that they see to affect them. For instance, we all know that fire burns and most of us have adopted away of dealing with fire so that we don’t get burnt off that matter we only get singed.

Being totally hopeless, helpless, peace less, and fearful only ever collapsed me into oblivion.
