      Yes!!! I've had plumbers charge for an ESTIMATE on repairing a stack pipe.
      If it's a simple clog that you can clear in fifteen minutes, sure, your price is reasonable but how much time are you spending in the van getting to the job site and how much time are you spending on clearing these drains?
      Don't under value your work! :)

    Best thing to do if you’re the home owner- DON’T flush any toilet paper at all. Just place any paper or wipes into a swinging trash pail & simply bag it. Just flush natural waste #1 & #2 only. You’ll save yourself a lot of grief in the long run. Especially, with older pipes with scales inside, chances are that toilet paper will eventually cling into them & eventually will cause a blockage as more paper clings into it . Also, wipes are the worst thing to flush. Don’t believe the package saying “flushable “, it’s flushable but will NEVER break down. Also, it’s good practice to treat your sewer line with some liquid draino to help break down grease by the U Trap overnight. Just some simple practices.....

    I watched sewer cleaning videos from the UK and Australia. The use of those jetters is quite common; they seem to be the clearing tool of choice. Do you use them? Your competitors? One advantage, it strikes me, is that they provide a fair amount of water which will then liquidate blockages. Your cutting tool is of course good for roots.

    • @MrJDNJ
      @MrJDNJ Před 3 lety +1

      I've been tempted to make this exact same comment. Using a hammer risks damaging the pipe. I would say the correct size square socket (1"?) with a long extension bar (2-3 ft) as a handle would allow someone to rock the cap back and forth to remove. Seems using that kind of leverage would be so much easier especially for hard to reach/underwater situations. He may want to bring along some simple kitchen tools (wisk, ladle, slotted spoon) to clear out the traps instead of the hammer handle.
