    To be honest I've been a tech / installer for over 20 years and would never get work if I ran cable like that ..lol .
    We have to run all cable in conduit with glands ect .
    But security is important were I live in Africa . Every 2nd home has automation.
    Looks a very simple motor to set up , no fancy electronics like I'm used to ( good old school motor ) .

      @RichmondCastors  Před 2 lety

      Hi Colin,
      I can't vouch for the electricians work, but you're spot on about the motor!
      It's designed to be simple to set up, yet still capable of years of use.
      It can also be fitted with a range of accessories, including smart home options.
      (Update) We've also got low voltage options available for those that don't have the correct 240 volt power at their gate.

      We also recommend fitting our GTR208 reflective photocell. This will stop the gate closing as soon as a person or vehicle interrupts the reflective beam.

      Hi Mai,
      The drive cog might be bigger or smaller on different motors, but the tooth pitch should be the same.
      This means you can simply adjust your gear racking to suit the new motor.

      Hi The Word,
      The motor is rated to IP54 so rain, hail or shine the motor will operate without any issue.
      Just make sure it's installed correctly so that water doesn't pool around the base or flood the motor.

      @RichmondCastors  Před rokem

      Hi Dylan,
      These motors can handle a sloped gate, but for safety we recommend a maximum 350kg on a 4 degree slope.
      This equals roughly a 300mm rise over a 4 metre gate opening.
      If you contact our technical support team they can help you with more specific advice.

      If the motor is travelling slowly, it is resetting it's Open & Close positions.

    • @RichmondCastors
      @RichmondCastors  Před 3 lety +1

      Hi Ichizo,
      In the event of power loss the gate motor can be unlocked. This will allow you to open the gate by hand.

    • @HomeMcCrae
      @HomeMcCrae Před rokem

      to unlock a sliding gate motor to manually open it in the event of failure, you need to be on the inside side, to access the release mechanism, there are some exceptions, the faac c720 series can be set to unlock if the power goes out, but they are double the price, 4 times better, but to hard for most to install, they have design flaws that are easily fixed but very few know how to, and less care to,

    • @RichmondCastors
      @RichmondCastors  Před 11 měsíci

      Hi HomeMcCrae,
      Correct, you need to be able to access the motor inside to manually unlock it.
      For those who DON'T have a separate pedestrian entry it's best to use a 24volt system with battery backup fitted.
      Not sure why the FAAC c720 unlocks automatically when they could just add this function.
      FAAC make good motors but they're not at all DIY friendly.
      The GTR156 is specifically built for the Australian market. Easier to install (no electrician required in most cases), easier AND cheaper to maintain. No special terminals to discourage 3rd party accessories and smart home ready with the addition of a WiFi opener.
      Once you've used both I think you would change your mind about which is better.

    Buy a Liftmaster with all steel gears and steel chain. And it has battery back up. First time it ices or snows your screwed!

    • @RichmondCastors
      @RichmondCastors  Před 3 lety +2

      Hi Michael,
      If you're recommending Liftmaster I assume that means you're based in the USA.
      Here in Australia we don't really suffer from Ice and Snow conditions.
      Also, for safety reasons, chain drives systems are very rare here in Australia.
      We do appreciate the input though, and we'll take the opportunity to offer some product knowledge that may help everyone with any purchase they may be considering.
      Our motors and gearboxes are an all metal construction, any decent motor should be.
      However, you were most likely referring to the nylon gear racking, which is actually steel reinforced and has an extremely long life when fitted correctly. It is also a LOT easier to fit compared to steel gear rack.
      Steel gear racking IS available but can cause excessive wear if not fitted correctly, and produces more noise. It is typically only used where higher capacities are required, or in commercial applications.
      Battery backup can be fitted to any of our 24volt DC range, but are naturally only useful when power goes out.
      Our motors also have a manual release that can be used in the event of power outage.
      Again, thanks for your input Michael. If you have any other questions, we're more than happy to assist.

    i see the gate shown in the video working, uses magnetic limits, not a spring style, they must degraded back to spring, Don't use a level to get the racking height. Don't use those square washers, Best to use real racking, not baby size three tag, Bugs will nest in that motor and destroy the circuit board where i live.

    • @RichmondCastors
      @RichmondCastors  Před rokem +1

      Hi Home McCrae,
      10 years ago we would have agreed with you on some of these things, but technology moves very quickly.
      Spring switches are much more suited to Australian conditions, and much easier to use compared to magnets.
      Nylon gear rack is quieter and easier to fit than steel. The nylon is also steel reinforced.
      Your bug problem is a concern though. It's not something we see a lot due to our motor design.
      Bugs love moisture and humidity, which means your motor probably isn't being vented correctly. Our motors come with a raised base plate to help with that, but you still need to keep the area around the motor clean and free of water.
      If you contact our technical team we'll be happy to help you through your next motor selection and install.

      Hi Emyrs Engineering,
      Good news, all of our swing and sliding motors have built in impact detection. It will still give you a bump, but it is designed to reverse once an impact is detected.
      We recommend fitting a photocell or safety beam to stop movement any time an obstruction is detected in the area.
      This way, there is no impact at all. Check out the link below for an example of our GTR208 photocell.
