As an Englishman I love the Germans! I wish we learnt different languages earlier in school, I didn’t start German until I was 11 and by then it’s too late. The reason we struggle is that we’re not used to masculine and feminine words, I still have nightmares over Der, Die and Das.

English is a language that is universal. All countries will most likely provide some form of learning english. Plus more countries with big populations speak English.

German and English have the same grammar structure. So it's rather easy for German to speak English. It's rarely to meet German who can't speak English.
Ahmad Endry german and english don't have the same grammar structure. Most Germans speak english cuz they learn it in schools plus they watch hollywood films.
English is a germanic language, human beings learn languages faster and easier, when the language is from the same root as their mother tongue. Indogermanic language tree in europe, slavic, romanic, germanic. That's the reason, so people who already do speak a germanic language like obviously german or dutch or swedish etc will have it easier. So they don't just have the same grammar structure, they share the same root, the germanic one.

Incredible ! Absolutely incredible!!! I had no idea so many Germans can speak English so fluently! Matt Hummels for instance, really shocked me - I didn't think he could speak at all, even in German! Yet his English was probably the best out of the lot. Equally shocked to hear Mario Gotze speaking good English also. On the whole, I'm very surprised.,
Most Europeans under the age of 30 are pretty much fluent in English, it's mandatory in schools now since it's such an important international language

I'm really surprised that many people are shocked by their English.
Me being both a native speaker in German as well as in English(more or less) it's quite difficult sometimes to hear Germans speak English.
Probably mostly because the accent isn't always that suitable and attractive...
But after seeing this video I kind of realised that the standard of spoken English here is quite good in comparison to other countries🙈

I'm German myself haha, so I don't know how difficult it is to learn for a foreign speaker, I just said what English speakers have told me :) Most of them were really desperate learning German, but then again it probably has also a lot to do with how good you are with languages in general.

being a student of NLP...german and english are more closely related..they have the same origin..and english is derived from some older form of german..i think scandinavian languages such as those of sweden belong to the same greater family...on the other hand french, spanish, italian , Portuguese have different root and are derived from latin....and all these languages including some indian languages like hindi along with persian etc forms a greater indian-europian family. The other main families are dravidian family(south indian) and sino-tibetan.
