I have read my whole collection but my memory sucks, so reading it again is almost like seeing them for the first time, feels good

Iâve read 100%, because i dont add the books to my collection before iâve read them, i keep them in my âto readâ pile. I personally find it more motivating to read when I can add the books to my shelves after Iâve read them. Helps me not buy too much aswell đ (I totally respect buying many books to collect though!!)
This makes sense. It will motivate you to read them sooner because adding them to the collection feels so good.
I used to not do that because things I want go out of print.
I think if you read them in any format it should count as read. It's the same story. You have a great collection.

Itâs a relevant topic for all of us as collectors. Thing is if we donât grab the hardcovers and omnis when they come out we miss out on them as they go OOP.
Iâm probably always around 40-50% read of my collection; as I read books I sell them unless I consider them 4 or 5 star reads that Iâll want to read again. So I always have inflow and outflow of books....usually inflow beats outflow đ.

I demand a recount lol!! You need to count the read stuff because you change format you are just upgrading books u love. If you go from library or oversized to an absolute it still counts. Damn your own rules!!

Really enjoyed this video- like taking a stroll through the Gembrary. My numbers are 70 books total owned, with 39 read. A 56% completion rate- better than I was expecting. I actually document all my books in a spreadsheet and mark which ones I read and when to help me keep track of things.

I use these videos as ASMR. Not because I think theyre boring, iâm a fan, I just really enjoy listening to someone as genuine and passionate as Gem while I fall asleep. Itâs relaxing. Then come the morning I actually finish the video.

I donât keep a library so my completion rate is 100% save for whatever stack I have at any moment đ. I buy, read, sell - rinse and repeat. I just got back into reading the past couple years so got aways to catch-up to you đ

An excellent and impressive vid that I actually use for a reference to see what I'm missing. I actually have a lot of stuff I haven't gotten to yet either, It's just that you know they're going to sell out and cost a fortune later, best to get them while you can and tackle them at your own speed.

This was a lot of fun, man! 28% is fair - not as bad as it was looking during the actual counting. I think if you could count what you've read in different formats, etc, I bet you'd be up to 40%, but as you said, rules are rules. Definitely think you need to read that Sweet Tooth man! Those golden, silver, and bronze age books can be a giant chore to get through with how much dialogue they fill each page with. Definitely recommend checking out Grayson though, its a quick and enjoyable read.
Love those GA omnis (as well as Silver age) but they are a struggle to get through. I have a tendency to dip into them so yes, I have read them, just probably not each and every comic (and many of the stories were quite samey)

I used to read everything in my collection before I got anything new. Then I discovered the price hikes when Collections go out of print. I now have an "I'll get there eventually" pile.

I mainly read TP's but I still haven't read my entire collection and I probably own 10% of what you do haha. Love your library setup man.
Respect for setting up such harsh rules for yourself. There are definitely times when I rather read something I read many times already than read something new or never read. It's like comfort food -enjoying time with a good old friend.

A good friend has lots of Omnibus books too, and most of them replaced the issues he already had. I asked if he would read again in the gigantic omnibus format the same comics he's already read and he replied "of course, I always do".
I have a completion rate of 45% (my excuse is that a few of my orders have just come in today lol). That being said, I have way less than you do so cheers for the amount you have read!

My opinion is you should count all you read regardless the format because you now the story, you read it. You just have them collected in omnibus format now.

I read most of my collection as I bought them when I was 14-25 yrs old which is 1984-1995. Anything after that is 20 or 30 percent read. The older I got, the less time or patience I have to read books. I also remember the books Iâve read when I younger more than the books Iâve read recently.
I just checked my collection and Iâm at 44% out of 220 books... not bad considering Iâve only been reading for 12 months lol

I have way too long of a TBR too and comics are my worst offenders. When I count mine, I usually make a third category catchall of like âhave read in diff format, or read in series but donât remember this bookâ. And I usually count half reads as read unless Iâm actively working on them. But wow Iâm jealous of your collection.
