  • Today we're talking about Pharrell's debut collection for Louis Vuitton (Spring 2024 Menswear). Everything from the pixelated camo damier print, logomania, and the speedy bag. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
    Enjoy!

Have to disagree with you. Love the wearability of the clothes, bags & accessories. Not a huge fan of Pharrell per se but I found his creative take, way better then Virgil’s sometimes mad cap presentations as seen in his last few collections prior to his untimely demise. I was rooting for LV to find another creative director but was definitely not wishing death upon him. Virgil’s untimely demise was sad for such a young man. That’s for sure.

I thought we sort of hit peak camo 10 years ago. I've still got a pixelated camo shirt jacket from Paul Smith and a cartoon camo raincoat by Oof I got from around that period. The massive minecraft level pixels don't seem very wearable. I've generally always gravitated towards loud ass statement stuff but the piece needs to be pretty by itself beyond being loud. I went into a womenswear shop today and it was clown vomit levels of clashing fluorescent colour everywhere so I guess if he's leaning into overpowering you then he's sort of on trend, and I hate minimalism, but maybe there's another path where you just make nice stuff. LV hasn't really made a name for itself by being subtle in the last 10 years however so maybe bringing full BAPE/BBC cartoonishness to high end luxury is a good shout even if I'm kind of over it all at this point.

Great point about LV not being a minimalist brand, but I think some of the colors choices and heavily logo'd pieces looked cheap. This is what's most damaging to the brand as it's luxury status is the biggest selling point. Funny enough, a lot of the comments on LV's runway video and posts seem to think this collection was some sort of collab, rather than permanent position for Pharrell, so I guess we'll see how perception changes with future collections.

Also if you made a bit longer video it would be great. Like 15/20 minutes. I think if you try to put out longer video it would pay off for sure. You have enough charisma to make it without problem and I think people will like it 😊

Thank you Matt for the kind words. I will test out some longer videos going forward!

Interesting review! I agree and to be honest I think the best part of the show was the production and the music but the actual clothes are predictable and repetitive
