  • Today we return to the attraction graveyard to bring you 7 defunct rides in Cedar Point - Part 2! You can check out part 1 here: • 10 Defunct Rides in Ce... . We did list 10 defunct cedar point rides in the original video, however that wasn't enough and we're back to provide more. Some old flat rides like Space Spiral, Witches Wheel and VertiGo are no longer with us. Cedar Point was once home to a select few dark rides which are no longer at the park; notably Pirate Ride and Disaster Transport, once known as Avalanche. Some might remember a show called Luminosity - Ignite the Night which ran from 2012 to 2017. And the most recent closure of the lot is Wicked Twister.
    Are there any other defunct attractions in Cedar Point that you miss? Be sure to let us know in the comments below!

    What defunct ride do you miss most from Cedar Point?

      There is a ride no longer remembered. It's not even given its due in the Cedar Point Museum (station house of the also defunct sky lift). I'm thinking of the stage coach! Yes, pulled by real horses. One could ride on top or inside, your choice. There is a sad version I saw at Knotts Berry Farm, but it went in a tight oval, not through the woods like at CP. Another important attraction was the Upside Down House funhouse. My cousin got lodged inside of the corkscrew slides which were the exit from the top floor. There was also an optional door to a staircase for leaving the house. No where else I have been has anything comparable to the Upside Down House. Finally, Cedar Point has been hard on the smaller rides, like the Witches Wheel, but how about The Rotor with its drop-out floor, we would pull our legs up and stick our hats to the wall as well. They even occasionally needed to hose out some vomit. If there isn't some occasional vomit, it's not a proper amusement park. Oh, yea, the Rotor was near the Aquarium attraction with its shows. The slides where I would get furious rub burns and the mini golf course under the shade of the trees.

      Lots more I can think of...Giant Sky Wheel, Sky Slide, Fun House, Rotor, Mill Race, Kid Arthur's Court with Sir Rub a Dub's Tubs, Bayern Kurve, Schwabinchen, Antique Cars, Frontier Lift, Paddlewheel Excursions, Shoot the Rapids, Star Voyager, Cedar Point Cinema (IMAX), and Oceana are just a few.

    My first visit to Cedar Point was 1967. I was five years old and just tall enough, exactly, to ride the Blue Streak. My main love of Disaster Transport was the simple fact I no longer had to bake in the sun to ride the bobsleds. The Pirate Ride was a favorite of mine. It seemed to get seedy in its last years with day-glow paint splashed about and black lights to light it up. The Pirate Ride could have gone on for years with some love and real imagination (Imagineers maybe?).

    I loved Wicked Twister! My friends and I loved to "run" across the straight part to "launch" you into the inverted parts 😂 It was so silly but so fun to do

    I am probably the only person who really honestly loved Avalanche Run. On a hot, noisy day at the park, it was wonderfully quiet, and the wind off the lake was amazing.

    Aside from part 1 and part 2, there are many other rides never mentioned that no longer exist. Others that I can think of offhand that I rode: Frontier Lift, Funhouse, Paddlewheel Boats, Shoot the Rapids (original), Mill Ride, Bayem Kurve, Schwabinchen, Giant Slide, Rotor. And no doubt there are a bunch others before that from earlier generations.

    There was a ride in the 70s that people went into a round room and put themselves right against the wall. The room would start to spin faster and faster then the floor dropped and everyone was hanging on the wall while the room was spinning. I loved it but can’t remember the name of it. Anyone know?

    I've ridden Disaster Transport! I admit I was grossly sleep deprived at the time, but nonetheless, I really liked it. The fact it was a coaster with 'no track' was a big novelty to me, but even better was that it was themed. Nothing else at Cedar Point had enough theming to stick in your ear, which was pretty disappointing to someone that grew up with Disneyland and expected a story on every ride. I used to even have a t-shirt for it, but it's long gone by now because I wore it all the time.

    • @ThemeSeekers
      @ThemeSeekers  Před rokem +1

      We weren't so lucky to have ridden it, Cedar Point could definitely do with some more themed rides!

      The first year it opened was great! The line was so long to ride it. Plus as a kid I thought all the robot stuff was so rad! There was so much to look at and watch. As opposed to just baking in the sun. As the years went by and lines got shorter, more and more stuff stopped working or was closed off. Sad, but I will always love that ride.

      They have no indoor air conditioned rides anymore. Neither does my hometown park, Dorney Park.

    Anyone else remember a theater near the end of the midway? Also a couple places where you could pay to use remote controlled boats? Maybe that was a different amusement park?

      Yes it was an Imax theater (real Imax). It was located around where Valravn is now.
