We are loving spending the holiday season in the middle of the North Atlantic. There is something about being on an island, especially during this time of year.
Hang out with us on Pico Island, as we take you around to some of the towns & villages. It's awesome that the locals really get into the Christmas spirit tradition; midnight mass, lights, lots of food, celebrating with family & friends.
Laura and I really love all that nature gives us here in the Azores; mild weather, all the greenery, soothing rain, the various blues of the sky & ocean, the feel, scents & sounds of the coast, the million stars, just the simple island life.
We want to wish everyone a Happy & Healthy New Year.

Looks like a nice quiet safe morning walk. There was a lot more decoration in the city than I thought there would be. We got a bit of snow in the GTA on New Years Eve. Happy New Years!
Very peaceful in the early morning and evening, here in Lajes village. There were a few more lights this year, it's nice to see the festivities throughout the island. All the best for you in 2024.

I love that you add in speaking in Portuguese too! Do you find that space heaters are enough during the winter? I was thinking of going to our family home during off peak seasons but I’m afraid it will be too cold in the house.
We're glad you enjoy the Portuguese speaking times, I will try to do more. We have 1 good heater in our big bedroom, definitely does the trick. We also have a very good mini heater that we move into the bathroom, living room etc, when needed. At the reno house, we will also put in a couple of AC/Heat units...this will take care of any humidity, cold, heat etc. Take good care! Saude.

Nice to see you guys enjoying the holidays in Pico. I was able to get some licor de Amora (from Sao Miguel) at the LCBO to celebrate the new year,. What I really wish I could get my hands on is some Aguardiente de Amora from Pico (not the licor which is also good, but not as strong) one of my favorite spirits from Pico. A must try if you never have :) Happy New Years Guys! All the best for 2024!
