Next episode will be "pauper decks can beat vintage decks!!" featuring pauper burn with the perfect 7 beating vintage doomsday with 7 lands in the opener.
I LOVE pauper burn and play it a ton, but it's definitely not as strong as modern burn. Yes it has some individual cards that are stronger like Fireblast, but the deck as a whole isn't as strong and will probably lose 8 times out of 10. Especially if we're taking sideboards into account.
ThermoAlchemist is soooo much fun. It’s my favorite card to train new players with since it’s value on a stick, but you have to remember it’s triggers.
Yep I was running thermo and an experienced player taught me to keep thermo untapped wait for attacks and then tap thermo in my opponents end step or in response to removal.
But how does it hold up against the modern player playing correctly? And with the pauper player not getting the perfect 9 cards? Letting alchemist live was just the modern players fault. If you kept a burn hand with no burn spells you deserve to lose lol
At some point we really gonna need a tutorial on how to build a deck in a way that you always draw the pitch-perfect, damn near artistically crafted opening with just the right amount of landdrops and just the cards you need because pauper just seems to be crazy like that. Maybe you can also show me how to change up my commander deck so that i can always play all of my best cards in the optimal sequence and at any one point have just the right amount and colour of mana in my 4-colour jank pile
Why do you play eidelon in a burn matchup when he already has a thermo alchemist on the table. He will always be one damage ahead of you since he could theoretically block the swiftspear.
This reminds me of a legacy tournament a few years back. I didn't really play the format but went with friends. They helped my convert my modern affinity deck into legacy so that i'd have a fighting chance without needing to learn a new deck and format. Ended up getting second place at the event of roughly 40 people. First place went to a guy playing his pauper mono red burn. And you're probably thinking 'wow that was hardly a legacy event, everyone must have not brought real legacy decks'... But my friends brought TES, Show n Tell, and Miracles. I played against show n tell, RUG delver, Lands, and Eventually mono red burn.
I think people forget how powerful cards are from old sets. Modern doesn't have as much acces to cards because we don't get good cards from the good old days. But we are talking about perfect hands because at the end of the day modern Belcher can go off on turn 2.
I would’ve probably removed thermal alchemist and hit the opponent with a burn spell then swing with swiftspear . The next turn would be eidolon and a burn spell then swing for 2 .
Seriously though! If the modern burn player chose not to remove the alchemist or kept a hand with no way to remove it then they're just a bad burn player, doesn't mean the deck is bad.
T1: Reveal Chancellor of the Tangle, play Gemstone Mine, cast Allosaurus Rider, cast Neoform, draw 14 cards off Grieselbrand, gain 12 back by pitching Thrasta to Nourishing Shoal, rinse and repeat. Wow! I did it! I beat the Pauper burn deck!
@@ICantThinkOfAFunnyHandle I mean pretty sure he’s making these videos to showcase pauper more and more… so by being disingenuous to how it would actually play out isn’t the right way to go

This is how I feel when new cards come out and everyone craps on the commons and uncommns. Like yeah they're not supposed to be power 9 straight outta the pack
I once had a Pauper Abzan deck that revolved around abusing Kor Skyfisher. Gave this one guy a run for his money against his Modern Grixis Delver deck. I distinctly remember him saying, "I can't believe my Jaces are useless here." As in, the Mind Sculptor.
I once went up against mono-red burn. I was able to survive because I had a Lifelink effect, but then my opponent racked up enough lands to burn for 30.
T1= Forest, Ancient Stirrings pulling Pili-pala T2=Forest, Pili-pala T3=Forest, Carefull Cultivation targeting Pili-pala, infinite mana tu replicate infinite times Pyromatics
This isn't a very realistic view of it you got the "perfect" poper burn hand vs a tard of a modern player making mistakes if it was just straight-up poper vs modern modern would win
mhh some people forget that pauper has more or less a vintage card pool and in old formats some of the most broken cards where commons and uncommons - especially for burn you have almost all the relevant cards of legacy burn and we all remember when stuff like gush was 4x in pauper and even restricted in vintage. I mean for a burn deck all it takes is 5 bolt type spells and a flameblast in hand and there is your t3 win. Can be done in any format.
We always underestimate popper because it's just comments and on comments. But we need to realize that. That means that we have to think outside the box to win😅
I once got out all 4 pheriexian advisors that hit them for 2 and give me two and I had quadruple proliferate and the blue dominus on the board as well to double the 4 card prolif in 8x prolif my favorite moment from my scratch built toxic prolif deck that got me to mythic last season online. Only one of my decks I can at past diamond 4
I have a modern deck that runs thermoalchemist, guttersnipes and fervent paincasters. No cmc is over 3, and I mixed in some opt, and dramatic reversals, aether gales and a couple other cards
I tested my brother’s UW affinity deck against my Abzan Greasefang list from pioneer… I still lost that game. A bunch of commons can make for some pretty powerful stuff
PSA, Pauper Burn and Modern burn use largely the same cards, Pauper just has better grind power due to the format being teched hard against burn as burn is the best deck. The big difference between pauper and modern being moderns better interaction package, lower starting life totals (fetches, shocks), and the threat distribution. Pauper plays "reward me", modern plays "punish you"
Are you twins?
I mean 🤭🤭
You made my day bro
#Thatmillguy where is the actual deck list????
No that's the clone spell he used in magic

Lol right
Pauper can beat free rules! Me with the mathematically perfect mono red deck 40 bolt 20 mountain
Pauper vs modern burn could work. There’s a couple of really powerful cards in that stack.
Ah yes, the old "Two creatures no burn on the draw" vs "perfect 9 card hand on the play"
Ah yes, expecting the world out of a one minute skittt lol
@@ThatMillGuyShaf sure and the best 10 cards out of my $4 deck can be anything worth $1,000 if they have to pick their worst seven.

@@ThatMillGuyShaf you’re upset because he’s right
With the perfect hand for the pauper player and the worst hand for the modern player, pauper can even beat modern
That's what I was thinking
Yeah, most Modern decks can easy 3 turn OTK when they get the right hsnd.
What do you mean this is a perfect representation of the matchup
This isn’t even really unrealistic, I would expect the thermo-alchemist to get bolted though.
Malding
“Chalice on 1”

Me : Ho is gonna Remove that alchemist.
Eidolon : Hehe boy I'm gonna be so useless !
I see your modern burn, and raise you my standard mana burn 😉
Commander burn be like 'uhhh hea gimme 10 turns then I'll Explosive Singularity you only for it to be Spell Pierced."
I'd love to see a series where actual games are played out with these decks instead of just skits. Would be interesting to see
ThermoAlchemist is soooo much fun. It’s my favorite card to train new players with since it’s value on a stick, but you have to remember it’s triggers.
I do the same! It's a perfect card to learn how to keep track of your triggers with and learning how the stack works.
Its just pauper christmas land hands and terrible modern. Any actual modern deck would stomp all over even the best pauper
At some point we really gonna need a tutorial on how to build a deck in a way that you always draw the pitch-perfect, damn near artistically crafted opening with just the right amount of landdrops and just the cards you need because pauper just seems to be crazy like that.

Why do you play eidelon in a burn matchup when he already has a thermo alchemist on the table. He will always be one damage ahead of you since he could theoretically block the swiftspear.
The play would have been to bolt the Alchemist, clearing the way for the Swiftspear to hit for 2 damage. Making the score 20 to 17.

As a commander player i’ve never even heard of pauper but i respect them for learning value over price

It's always funny how the commons can be the most broken just because their abilities are often overlooked.
He could have just targeted alchemist to avoid getting messed up.
Literally a perfect scenario
I love my pauper Tatyova commander deck. I play it against most regular commander decks.
Had a Red/Blue mondern deck with a playset of Thermo-Alchemist. That dude can put in work
Fireblast is one hell of a card
pauper burn is just "fireblast is a messed up card :)"
Magical Christmas Land strikes again!
Oh, lightning bolt, he we miss thee for one red mana.
fireblast is a heck of a magic card
Pauper: I'll play 4 lightning bolts

pauper burn just kind of books down to counting to 7, thermo just makes it counting to 5 instead
