  • Wanted to be transparent and share the monthly payment on my BMW M4 and give you guys advice on my experience financing the car. If you were curious on how I was able to afford this car stay tuned, I will make a video on it soon going in depth. I'm 21 years old, had no co-signs or additional help when it came to purchasing this vehicle.

    I understand what people would say about a $900+ car payment, but we wake up everyday, work, eat, sleep, and we do the same this everyday yr after yr, I say enjoy you life, do or buy what you enjoy, tomorrow in never promises, you can take the money with you, yes you need a financial plan to save money, but if you can afford it and it makes you smile everyday you drive it, then that PRICELESS.

      This is why young bucks stay broke. A $940+ car payment on an M4 or similar car is only the beginning. Include the higher cost of insurance, oil changes, tuneups, details, tires, brakes, other maintenance and upgrades is no joke. It only makes sense if you can use the vehicle for a business write off.
      Stack that $$ for investments that can bring in residual income to pay for the toys.

    The total monthly cost isn't just "$950" a month. Insurance probably is close to $400. Premium gas only. Maintenance will be insane from oil changes to getting new tires. Calculate depreciation and interest. Probably closer to $2,000 a month to drive this if not more. Yeah not worth it man.
    And if someone reading this is saying "yOuR bRoKe" I am not. I just took basic personal and corporate finance classes. They teach you to not do this. Also learned from past mistakes

    When I was your age I did the same thing - though there wasn’t an M4 I had M3s. At 46 I realize now what I gave up to own those cars. $20k (roughly what you put down) with monthly $1k contributions compounding at 7% (the credit union rate) would give you $100k in 5 years. Compound that another 20 years with the same $1k month and you’d basically have a million bucks. It’s comforting at 46 to go to bed with $1M - trust me. Enjoy your youth!!

    • @coldracerx
      @coldracerx Před 5 měsíci +10

      On average it's $200 to every 10K so a 80k car would be about 1600 a month. Then if you put 20k the sale price drops to about 60K so payments should be around 1200 even with a good interest rate. But if he got it down to 54k only way to get that down to 900 he had to go 84 months

    • @coldracerx
      @coldracerx Před 5 měsíci +1

      I seen where Truliant will give you payments of about 947 on 65K with terms of 8.6% for 96 months. So he may have the math right but that's a lot to spend on a car only. But people primitive what they want.

    • @deadcell1
      @deadcell1 Před 4 měsíci +5

      @@mooz2xif your payment is $942/month and the amount financed (after the down payment) is $74,000 then it'll take you 78 months to pay it off. You'll have to make at least $200k/annually (which I doubt you make) for the bank to approve you or else your DTI will be too high for the loan. Someone definitely co-signed for you.
      Also, the time that you brought your M4 was a unique situation, it was during a time when credit criteria was laxed and stimulus money was flowing. Times have changed.

    It's fortunate that you undoubtedly still reside with your parents, or at least one of them, as the decision to purchase this car seems quite imprudent. A monthly car payment exceeding $900, not even factoring in insurance, on an asset that depreciates over time appears rather unwise. This amount could easily cover a mortgage on a property, which tends to appreciate in value. If you happen to come across this advice, consider living within your means and opting for vehicles within your financial reach, and avoid interest.

    I was in this situation earlier this week. I was looking at a 2021 M340ix for 46k out the door. Another 5k in dealer options but the monthly on just the car alone with a 10k down was 650. The dealership said their bank had to give me a 72 or 75 month loan with a 8.5% rate. I was able to cross compare with my credit union that offered me my 60 month loan for 7.6% but ultimately I said no to the purchase. 700 a month wont kill me at all but that is 1 paycheck a month going to paying for the car and insurance. I could get the car but I just felt that I would be more comfortable with payments being around 4-500 a month. For most people they will have to toss the 20/4/10 rule out the window if they want certain cars. I will have to put 20-30k down on that same M340ix for me to comfortably finance it or make 120k a year. 120k is very possible, but in 3-5 years. I am starting to understand why people still buy the entry level sports cars like the Si and the GR86. Not fast but it will bring you a level of enjoyment without burning a hole in your wallet.

      @freewilly5073 Před 2 měsíci

      @ISLAMICSTORIES13 the 2k a week stand point would be equal to someone making 100k a year but that would be post tax. Very touchy how much you should make pre tax since it depends on your state. I'm also only being 900 a week because I'm putting money into an hsa and 401k. I'd be up an extra 200 a week. I wanted to outline the income better so others can use it as a reference to better what makes sense financially. Buying an m340i at 8.6% for 75 months paying 650 a month is terrible financial advice but a lot of enthusiasts will also do it. I'm rethinking an m340i that costs 46k OTD and looking into a higher mileage and older F chassis mx40i model around the 30k mark. It's that or I go for a rcf if I can find one in the 30s or low 40s. I'm not in a rush but I'm planning out what makes more financial sense while still being fun to drive on a daily with the least amount of time down.

      @@freewilly5073 yeah bro its hard to justify the m340i. I really want one myself but I make around the same as you - 900 a week but am projected to make more when I get promoted soon. I am probably gonna do an f30 340i but I will be buying mine from copart all cash and repairing it myself for about 12-15k total after repairs. I also did this in 2020 when I got my 2018 challenger from copart and bc of inflation I came out on top. put 30k miles on the challenger and can still sell it for the price i paid. so gonna sell it for 12k and then use that to get my f30 and only come out a a couple thousand out my current savings for repairs and have no car note.

Not to mention the expensive maintenance/insurance and a 7.2% interest rate with A1 credit is not good my guy it’s just not as bad as the current average auto interest rates are. To be fair at 74k it already lost a ton of depreciation so I salute you on that, & 20k down was also a very smart move.
