- Wassup ya'll, I'm briefly going over my experience so far owning a high-mileage F82 M4! I picked up the car with 102K miles. Not as bad as you think-if you know what to do and look for! Will do a follow-up video going into more depth of what I have encountered mechanically and what I have done to the car! Thank you for watching!

Had my f82 since 2016 with 0miles. Now I have roughly 106k on the dash and no issues at all. Been the most reliable m car I’ve ever owned.

@@uponscoreI have 101,900 miles on mine, Stage 2 for around 5k miles and no crankhub fix. Stock downpipes. Only charge pipes have been upgraded to eliminate this failure point.
Love my F83. I’ve had it since 30k miles. I now have 90k on it. Have had to do some repairs along the way but mostly through warranty. Still puts a smile on my face especially because she’s paid off.
maintenance is unavoidable but makes it worth it! and hell yeah! debt free pulls are the best! lol
I picked up a 2018 M3 last November with 80,000 miles for a pretty sweet deal. The car exterior had a couple scratches and interior at a really good condition, the only thing that had some wear is the steering wheel and just a little bit on the driver seat. The engine light came on after a month but it was only a malfunctioning MAF sensor after I installed aftermarket intakes other than that this car has been giving me 0 issues, best car Iven ever owned. If you're thinking about doing it JUST DO IT its so worth. (tip: Dont get repairs at the BMW dealership they are scammers, find a small business that specializes in these type of cars, it'll save you so much money.)

My 2002 e46m3 has 158k miles and it still runs like it’s brand new bro. Mint exterior and interior. Manual. 💯stock . Maintenance over mods any day. Cheers!

I bought my M3 nearly 2yrs ago with roughly 68k on the odometer and as of today I'm sitting right at 100k!! in your video you made a lot of good points of what to expect when driving a high mileage performance vehicle. I like your saying "Maintenance over Mods!!", no truer words have been spoken. Since purchasing my vehicle I have been very proactive when dealing with maintenance. Granted I've done a couple of mods to the vehicle but I always put maintenance first. Love videos keep it up and Mahalo brah!!
yessah! i definitely learned my experience with not doing maintenance first in my previous BMWs. After a little growing up I learned to be more patient with the mods and do the maintenance first lol. More life to come out of your M3! Mahalo for the kind words!🤙🏾

Nice video! BMWs like any car today, as long as they are maintained, they will run reliably. BMW and other manufacturers have come a long way in building quality cars, 20 years ago that was different. This is a great car that you can count on and build memories with. Enjoy.

For you passenger door window you might be able to use a silicon gel and lubricate the weather stripping the window rubs on. I had that issue on my earlier g35 and it went away. Again rubber just dries up lol. I use 303 products to prevent plastic shit from drying up as well

I’m at 99k mile, I owned since around 60k mile. Tuned for 35k mile with bm3 stage 2 I never had issue beside just regular maintenance like oil and spark plug..

No crank hub?
Nothing wrong with it. Just make sure you do a PPI prior to purchasing one, to make sure nothing imperative is wrong with it. And definitely going maintenance before mods is the way to go. Good stuff!!!!!

Nice video, but I wished that you would dive into the maintenance and what went wrong (if any) in your ownership. My M2C is now reaching up there was well, and it's kind of scaring me
I had the same feeling after i posted the video! i ended up making a separate video about maintenance and what went wrong with mine!
Just hit 63K on mine, bought it in may at 52K miles for a STEAL. It's been a blast to drive but I've had a fair share of maintenance.. Control arms, oil filter housing gasket, oil pan gasket, went stage 1 with GTS DCT and bunch of coding. Absolutely love it.

How much did you get it for ?
I was at the dealership couple of days ago for a free checkup. 2015 m4 DCT 90k miles, quoted me $9900 for the same thing. Oil pan gasket, $3600, oil filter housing gasket $600, 2 front control arms $1200, rear diff and right axle seal $2700. Changing 3 belts up front almost $1600 I know that with a independent guy it's probably half but still 😅😅. Had this car 4 years at 50k miles, drove it hard for 40k, stage 2 E85 catless , equal length midpipes, afe intakes, xhp stage 3 transmission tune, and a crank bolt capture plate on crankhub.
What was the cost of repairs if I may ask, debating on selling my m4 or not

I’m looking at one with 82k miles for 16k. I think that’s a steal. I also seen a 2017 with 232k miles!! I think it’s safe to say a high mileage car shouldn’t really be a deterrent. If anything it shows you the car is daily drivable and reliable.
Whats the history on that 82k miles for 16k? is it rebuilt or salvage title? Also yeah i agree with what you said about that second part. Definitely shows testament to the build quality of the car!
My 2018 F83 had 129K miles on.
Loved every mile of it.
My 2020 M4 has 50k miles.

What do u say about the 440i? I heard good stuff about the B58, a combo of reliablity and fun performance. Should be good enough since it was chosen by toyota right?
that username wylin😂 anyway, i’ve never had a B58 nor have I experienced it. But based on friends and forums, they are pretty reliable and does make great power with few mods!

the b58s are almost on par with the s55s, modding em is cheaper and the reliability is great.

honestly not a bad route. you’ll have something that can go into the trade and hopefully by then the prices are cheaper than what they are now!

check car fax history. ask for records or receipts of maintenance. big items are gaskets. any history of track use? also ask if crankhub is done.
if no recent maintenance within the last 10k miles, start looking into those and budgeting those in.
A little late but I'm about to purchase a M4 as a daily with 73k miles and I was worried but the more I look at it and search it up the more it seems like the F8X platform is pretty solid
they are pretty solid! just keep up with the maintenance and you should be good!💪🏾

I didn’t go over those cause it would vary depending on the car. Some cars would be more taken care of than others. As for cost since purchase, that also ties in to what maintenance was previously done and not done, and also modifications that you would look into getting. I did however make a video about reliability and I went over my personal maintenance items that i did to my car. feel free to check it out!🤙🏾

Local dealer had a 1 owner 60k mile M4 for $40k I slept if you paid $30k for 100k mile 😅😅 glad the S55 proves itself as reliable however.
if i had more money and more patience during the time i was looking for an M4, i would have paid the extra $10k for 40k less miles 😂😂 but i live and i learn lol
@@f82kalikiano Life goes on brother! S55 is a stout platform anyways. Afterall, $10-15k loss on an m4 in the grand scheme isn't the end of the world. People lose hundreds of thousands driving and selling their hyper cars. We're good 😂👍 enjoy.
Higher highway mileage is better than low mileage city driving. Stop and go traffic puts more wear on everything.

@@f82kalikiano clean title, 2nd owner. Basic maintenance like oil changes. Valve gasket, oil housing gasket & oil pan gasket was done
thats not bad. if the waterpump & thermostat isnt done, i would prepare for that. Is the crank hub done? Also look into getting a pre-purchase inspection done by a certified mechanic!

BMW making unreliable cars is mostly a meme from old times like 1990s-2000s. But unless you get something like 7series which is crazy unreliable and expensive you'll be fine. Especially with S58 and B58 engines which are Toyota level reliable.
They definitely come along way making these cars more reliable!
Most cars nowadays. The interior is like the first thing to start showing signs of wear. They just use plastic for everything and cheap paint. You might be able to wrap that shifter panel and maybe replace thought badges on the seats. I’m in the army e-4 at the moment but trying to buy m340i. If it’s just out of my budget I’ll take the 340i 😂

When I got the car, there was nothing mechanically wrong. Just opted to do the maintenance right away for peace of mind.

That car looks neglected and is in a terrible shape. I have one, it's a 2014 at 110 000km's but everything looks new. I have the extended leather package and 360° cameras. It's fully optioned. I wonder what yours has been through.
If I remember correctly, i think my car was a fleet vehicle of some company before I bought it. Thats good you got your M4 in pristine condition and fully optioned!
Curious, if I’m looking at these used, how do I know if the crank hub has been changed? If not should I change it myself after buying it?
Honestly, most people just ask the previous owner or have it checked by a mechanic. If its not yet done, usually people get it done for a peace of mind.
@@f82kalikiano thanks! You inspire me to look because I tend to be scared of this car due to potential problems but it looks like the best option is to have it checked out. Although I am probably going to buy this from a dealership and I’m not sure how they will allow me to check it.
