  • 2016, Rio de Janeiro, Olympic tournament in freestyle wrestling up to 74 kilograms. Kabardian Aniuar Geduev triumphantly marched to the final. His victory in the quarterfinals over his principal rival, London Olympic champion, three-time world champion and one of the most titled American wrestlers in history, Jordan Burroughs, became a landmark for him.
In the semifinals, Geduev faces Azerbaijan's Jabrayil Hasanov. Jabrayil Hasanov looked much fresher, unlike Geduev, who spent a lot of energy to defeat Burroughs. At the beginning of the bout the Azerbaijani holds two holds that brought him 4 points. But, this success of the Azerbaijani wrestler did not prevent the Russian wrestler from changing the course of the fight and winning. In this fight to reach the final Aniuar Geduev receives a split eyebrow, which most negatively affects the result of the final bout.
In the final the Russian wrestler will meet Iranian Hassan Yazdani. Unlike Geduev, Yazdani came to the final fresh and full of energy. But this did not prevent Geduev from immediately getting 2 points, fixing the Iranian on the mat. Soon Aniuar managed to catch his young opponent again, and the score became 4 0. But the further course of the bout was influenced by the injury received by Geduev in the semifinal. He suffered a cut, bled profusely, and had to wear a bandage that completely blocked his left eye and squeezed his throat, cutting off access to air. But despite these extreme conditions Geduev wins the first period with a score of 6:0.
However, in the second period Yazdani began to win back, to increase in speed, and towards the end of this dramatic fight the score already became 6:4.
In the last minute, Geduev fixed the Iranian's heel, preventing him from taking 2 points. But, 3 seconds before the end of the bout, the referee gives Yazdani 2 points. The moment was controversial, and here everything depended on the decision of the judges, who, alas, decided not in favor of the Russian wrestler.
The score was equalized, 6:6, and by the last technical action the victory went to Hassan Yazdani.
Analyzing this fight, it is safe to say that if not for the injury and severe bleeding, Geduev would have won the Olympic gold medal. But neither his numerous fans nor his fellow countrymen consider Aniuar Geduev a loser. After all, for them he is a real champion of the Olympic Games.

WTF! Geduev was a juiced-to-the-gills wrestler and enjoyed 15 minutes of rest during the finals, but guess what, he lost regardless to a younger hungrier champion in Yazdani. His doping will come out in the next few years, mark my words.

Someone have a bad luck with lack of good coaches and the other with injuries. If your unlucky you may not win.
