    Weird expansion tank cap, right?
Note: I reconnected the antenna ground. It appears the stereo is grounded by that cable.

Yup, pretty much ll rubber o-rings go flat after being compressed a long time. Hence, they become the weak point of leaking air, oil or fluid.

My expansion tank cap broke just like yours. 2001 330Ci. I’m not sure why BMW has this complicated expansion tank and cap vs. a simple radiator cap and overflow tank.

Weird huh!! We never found the broken piece either, it's probably stuck bottlenecking flow somewhere

@@junbox618 Did you continue to use the broken cap? If so, have you had any issues because of it?

Just confirmed I had the same problem on my 2000 2.3 . I think it was letting the coolant leak out under pressure because I could not keep more than half the expansion tank full

Interesting!! I didn't notice any cooling issues or levels dropping. Maybe I didn't pay attention!!

Where did you find the grommet for the antenna delete?

The plug is the same as an e30. I bought this one on eBay: tinyurl.com/465vf3s4
