For house bands and bands playing small venues with the monitors nearby, you absolutely want a cardioid mic. Cardioid mics are BEST for cutting down on feedback and crowd noise bleeding into the mic. Super-cardioid mics cause more feedback.

any mic recommendation for a group podcast if you can only buy 2 mics? thanks!

a 1:1 setup will almost always be recommended for good audio for a podcast. you may try 2 units of a large condenser mic that can do a figure-8 polar setting but it would also require a quiet room since these condensers are sensitive and would pickup every sound source in the room.

    • @PushingFaders

Is the room noisy, reverberant, isolated? if you have a non isolated room with windows and hear noise form the outside, you may want to treat that first. use a dynamic mic and podcaters should talk directly to the mic for good clear pickup and avoiding most noises around

@@PushingFaders thank you, I appreciate your response. Room is untreated so dynamic might is the way to go based on your statements. Thank you sir!

Cardioid mic is better for isolation, super cardioid have front and rear patern.

  • @rrpaulanthonymapa6303

Thank u sir. Can you recommend a budget super cardioid microphone for gigs? Better for falsetto pick up.
