He didn't say he was the long term solution, he's simply saying he is our guy and we believe in him until A-Rod gets healthy which what any good coach should/would say.. Swagu is right. The fact that The Jets basically gave up on Zack Wilson last year but them come into this year with him still on the team. Saleh didn't hire Hackett, I'd wager that he didn't want him there, the front office had no other plans than winning with Rodgers. Unfortunate injury, can't blame someone for that.

They didn’t completely give up on him, they gave up on him being NFL ready. The plan was to tutor him behind Aaron for 2 seasons and revisit him.
Saleh and the front office should’ve already had Wentz on the bench above Zach. All these players/former players don’t want to roast Saleh for also being ill prepared because they personally know him.

Agreed. People act like Saleh has control of personnel decisions. He has a GM and owner who make those decisions. Saleh has to work with what he has and may even have to lie to pump up Wilson's confidence.

The offense was doomed when Rodgers got hurt… having Hackett calling plays and Wilson remaining at quarterback was always going to be a disaster.
Offense was doomed when they did nothing to make the offensive line not bottom 5 of the league in the offseason

Jets offense is extremely overrated. Outside Garrett Wilson, the Jets O is not good at all. Hall has no burst post surgery, and Cook was let go by the RB desperate Vikings for a reason. The O-Line is also arguably the worst in the league. But yeah let’s blame the guy that was thrown into the fire and has never been given a fair opportunity. Wilson is being forced to operate in a system that contradicts his play style! You people just hate Wilson like deranged lunatics without ANY context whatsoever.

In the end, coaches get the blame. That's just how it is. He can easily bench ZW if he wants and try another backup. That won't change the season any, but Saleh has to do something.
Hackett can't coach without Rodgers bailing him out we all saw it in Green bay, we saw what happened when Hackett went to Denver, and no9w with Rodgers out again he will struggle as a play caller but yes Wilson should never have been drafted to the Jets

I feel bad for Wilson. Saleh is a defensive coach that won't let the kid play. He wont throw the ball because he has been essentially told not to. I have yet to see the Jets coaching staff realize that other teams have strengths and weaknesses. They rollout the same gameplan regardless.
As soon as Rodgers came in, the jets should have shipped Wilson out. They only keeping him around because they drafted him 2nd overall and trying to justify it to themselves
They kept him because if they cut him, every dollar still counted against the cap and they figured they would have time to rehab him because he has the talent. This is Saleh's (and Lafluer from last season's) fault that this kid who was 5-4 as a starter last season has no confidence.

Saleh is entirely to blame. He has a fantastic roster overall. But you can't win by not allowing your QB to throw the ball. Running on 1st and 2nd down and being in 3rd and long is a recipe that most QBs would look bad in. After you have destrotyed their confidence as Saleh did to him,what do you expect.

Wilson might still be the best option, you can’t just sign a QB mid season and expect to win. NFL offenses are like learning a language, it takes time.

Mike White started one game in 2021 when Wilson was hurt. Looked great. Was hurt in the 1st Qtr of the next game. Last season they put him in against Chicago (Really Bad team) and looked good. Played decent against Minnesota (30th ranked defense.) First real Defense was next against Buffalo (who Zach had beaten 4 weeks prior) and was knocked out again in the 1st half. So had they kept him, he is already hurt. Saleh, instead of using Chicago and Minnesota to rehab Zach Wilson, he used it to try and build up Mike White. Many people bought the fallacy. What he actually did was break his prized high draft pick for nothing. Send him back to San Francisco where they think he knows what he is doing. Or did that Defense manage to still play well after they lost such an 'elite' coach?
I hated the Zach Wilson pick. I wanted Penei Sewell at tackle and figure it out at QB. But since they took him, TRY and make it work. Instead they have actively worked against his success from that moment on. Year 1 their QB coach died in a freak accident in training camp. They felt no need to get him a veteran QB to help him out and maybe start the season while the kid learned, (Mike White was the backup for the first 6-8 games.) Then they cr@@pped all over him last season even though he was the only QB who won games. This season looks like they have made him afraid to make any mistatke. He looks for the checkdown immediately (and sometimes still doesn't have time.) Rodgers did not like motion. Have they incorporated motion to help Zach read the defenses since Rodgers is done? If you said no go to the head of the class. He is skittish in the pocket. Moving pockets? NO Roll Outs? ONCE (it worked) QB designed runs to get a few easy yards and make the defense account for him? NO. C'mon people. He may be as bad as everyone thinks, but if he is decent, we could never know.
I hate the media!! All of them are wrong like on most days!! They are wrong because if Zach Wilson is all the Jets have, then it’s that coach job to try and instill confidence, create a calm even if the talent isn’t there. I'll be honest, as a Jet fan this is pretty much ideal lol. Our offensive line was A LOT worse then we ever imagined it would be, even with them saying it was weak. This is a Andrew Luck situation, but just with a lineman. Leave Wilson in, let's win us our 3 games this way we can draft a stud lineman and sign some help in free agency. Let Rodgers come back next season with a better line, same weapons and we're golden.
