  • Your opponents will bounce off you once you've mastered this simple and useful exercise. And if you keep getting bounced out of your stance, it will teach you how to clear the line and get the hit. [Wing Chun Classes, Books, Online Course at www.waiskungfu.com]

What if he simply knees you, gets into clinch position, or a roundhouse kick on the ribs?

Hey. Thanks for the question. The answer is simple - those techniques aren't allowed in this exercise. We make a distinction between training and fighting, and that means some of our exercises aren't designed to handle every type of attack. Imagine an exercise where one practices the skill of hitting a golf ball out of the rough. It's possible for somebody to say "well that doesn't help much if you're in the sand", and they'd be right. We do have exercises where we train to handle knee attacks, clinches or round house kicks - but those exercises don't start with me giving my opponent my hands like in our chi sao drill.

What would this look like if the person just tried to walk in with lux sao instead of playing a technique?

Luk sao meaning just rolling without technique? Like bong or fook or tan?

@@Dr.Chisao We have exactly that drill you describe, it's a great drill. It's in our toi ma (push horse) curriculum. This drill here is supplementary to that drill, kinda like a more robust extension of it.
