  • Ajegunle is a neighbourhood located in the heart of Lagos Nigeria. It is a community within the Ajeromi- Ifelodun local government area of Lagos. In Yoruba Ajegunle means ‘wealth has landed here. On community report this week we are going into the community to see first-hand what the community looks like. And what the government needs to do to improve this community.

Wow! This is very shameful. I was born in that very city, AJ city. I played football on that very feild they showed. Did both my pry and secondary school there. It was very bad then. And now in 2020 its even in a worse shape siting from this documentary. In 2013, I visited Nigeria and took a trip to AJ city and wept. The conditions were beyond repair. Felt like Lagos state governor and the federal government of Nigeria have abandoned my city. This is terrible. My heart breaks for my beloved city, Ajegunle. AKA AJ City. 😢😢

It's no more a city but slum.I went to Police Barrack in Apapa in 2006 when I visited Nigeria and I could not believe the smell, it horrendous. I was asking people how could live and trade here. It was very filthy and you can see pockets of gutter everywhere. It's just ashame that there are many towns and localities in Lagos like this. I used to stay with my uncle is Olowo Ira. It's not a bad area though but the toilet and bathroom is yawk (extreemely unpleasant), I remember this as I am watching this documentary.

Damn, this feels like we are in 1910, I am still trying to understand what is happening here honestly. It feels like the community is wore torn. Nigeria should divide and stop clowning. The country is in a big mess, people living and shitting in swamp. Even that clown is still talking of palace, you don't have a community anymore and you're talking of palace.

If we really want to solve all the problems in Nigeria, every Nigerian will get a job and we will even ask foreign/guest workers to come in due to shortage of workers. It is sad that the country has not been lucky with a good leader till now. All hope is not lost. Good that they are now bringing it to national light through this television channel. Thanks for mentioning that great people have also come out of this place despite its current state.

Damn, nostalgic, the humble beginning 😊 My family used to live here in 44 Adekeye street between 1975 to 77 before we moved to Ikate Surulere. I am rooting for these school children, they'll pull through and becoming part of Ajegunle Success story. My siblings and i are professionals in different academic discipline.
It's a shame that AJ has become worst version of itself. It was far much better, cleaner albeit rundown when we lived there.
Daddy worked so hard in Apapa Wharf where he was doing clearing & forwarding to get us out of there in 2 years. Thank you, miss you, daddy RIP.

This is an indictment on the Government of Lagos State. Given the revenue being realised monthly in the State, there should be no justification for the existence of this horrendous squalor.
This belittles the worth of a State that advertises itself as "Center of Excellence.
Ajegunle is not the only one such condition in the state.
The State should live up to the claim of excellence by seriously attending to the many such places. Lagos can afford the means to do so. No matter how much money the leaders may individually have, as long as the intolerable squalor exists, their achievement is nothing but ridicule in the greater world of true development

Ajegunle produced so many celebrities who just took their bags and RUN away to Victoria Island or VGC after Ajegunle made them. Absolutely, nothing like social responsibility or giving back to the community who made them. To Nigerians is ALWAYS govt responsibility to fix everything. Shame.

Most celebrities made their fame through aristo-prostitution , they do not have as much as they are claiming and the little they have is for their dresses, shoes and bags in other to take their workshop to the next level and for better marketing.

It's not their responsibility to fix Ajegunle. What's wrong with Nigerians being so afraid to stand up to their criminal leaders but instead expect private citizens rich or poor to pick up their slacks.
If you're one of those celebrities, would you invest all of your hard earned money rehabilitating this place? People just regurgitating rubbish.
Private citizens can pick up one charity to sponsor may be school lunch, clean water, textbooks, scholarships in their former elementary or secondary schools to support the current students, but in no way would they have the capability to engage in massive reconstruction of Ajegunle.

It's not the private citizens' responsibility to develop any part of the state. It's governmental responsibilities. In your theory, you're OK for the politicians to loot public funds while private citizen do the development with their hard earned money? How many places have you developed?
