This song was recorded and then filmed in my own home studio.
"Radio Ga Ga" is a 1984 song performed and recorded by the British rock band Queen, written by their drummer Roger Taylor. It was released as a single with "I Go Crazy" by Brian May as the B-side. It was included on the album The Works and is also featured on the band's compilation albums Greatest Hits II and Classic Queen.
The single was a worldwide success for the band, reaching number one in 19 countries, number two on the UK Singles Chart and the Australian Kent Music Report and number 16 on the US Billboard Hot 100. The band performed the song at every concert from 1984 to their last concert with lead singer Freddie Mercury in 1986, including their performance at Live Aid in 1985.
The music video for the song uses footage from the 1927 silent science fiction film Metropolis. It received heavy rotation on music channels and was nominated for an MTV Video Music Award in 1984.
🙋🏼 ABOUT ME: My name is Alyona Yarushina, or Aly. I was born in Russia, and I am a singer, a musician,
I play the piano and do many arrangements myself, I’m in love with 80s and 90s rock. In Russia, I played with several bands. One of them is the best Led Zeppelin tribute band in Russia called "Plumbum Dreams". The other one is called "Back from the USSR", where we played Beatles songs in my own arrangements. We played in Liverpool, England almost every year on the Beatles week fest. My dad, Valeriy Yarushin is my bass player in this band. He's a legend of Russian folk-rock and his band “Ariel” was most popular in the 70s and still is now. I learned a lot from him.
In 2004, I won the “International Hopes of Europe” competition in Sochi, Russia along with the “Grand Prix” prize for singing I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston.

I don't usually listen to any cover song sung by Freddie Mercury because his voice can't be replicated but this one was really gorgeous! ❤️

What a coincidence. I just watched Queen's video yesterday from Live Aid '85. That's how Lady Ga Ga got her nickname. She fell in love with the video. As always great job Alyona!
What I remember was this song was a response to everyone (including me) watching MTV instead of listening to radio. I can't help that video killed the radio star! I think Lady Gaga took her name from this title. Thanks for remembering Freddie Mercury, he livened Live Aid with this song. Your sound is unique and somehow it works. Not an easy song to cover
Ironic considering that Queen were instrumental in creating the Music video.... and in turn after their video for ' I Want to Break Free', they were banned from MTV for cross dressing...

actually she's alot better than many people who do - she doesn't need tweaking to get those high notes and she can do so many styles with impeccable timing and dead on note for note

You do great justice to this huge song, Aly, and it is one that is brave to take on as it is so well-known.
I think every member of Queen wrote at least one #1 record - this one from Roger Taylor. Of course, Freddy wrote most, followed by Bri, but Queen really had strength in depth and a great range in vocals, all having different registers for their "normal" singing, Roger the highest of all, and way above any normal adult male vocal range which is routinely written for.
Those complementary vocals allowed them to create harmonies that few bands have ever been capable of, and are very hard to copy.
There is a certain irony in this song, with its mourning of how music videos were taking over from radio airplay as the main way for listeners to be exposed to new music, given that the video for "Bohemian Rhapsody" is widely cited as the first (popular, at least) music video - made because it was so layered that it was only possible to play parts of it live.
And of course, this is the song from which Lady Gaga took her name. Is it unique in that respect? I can't think of another example of a singer taking their stage name from one song.
It is a complete mystery to me that Brian isn't Sir Brian by now - he's well and truly earned it.

When the sun sets down in Lake Leman in Montreux (Confederation Helvetique) the statue of Freddie continues to sing. The son of Zanzibar in Tanzania created one of the most admired music bands. That song was the highest point of our youth in Venezuela when we were young and innocent in the top of the "Venezuela Saudita" where a crisis of wealth and a rain of money because of Oil made our country very confuse and disturbed in our economy. Instead of creating something, planting cacao or coffee, we just were in a permanent party due to the Oil. But the song went along our most beautiful hours in the tropical sea and islands in the paradise of Bahia de Pozuelos. We listened to Tambores de Barlovento, quinteto contrapunto, Ali Primera, Yordano, and all our venezuelan music but also to english Pop. Thank you Freddie.
