@@porfiriato84 Because it’s just a fun, spirited, well appointed, little car with lots of storage.
suggestion- take some drives ( especially with a car like a GTI ) to some curvy backroads, and some highway vs. city streets /traffic.
Have had my GTI SINCE 2008. Has gone through changes as I have built and rebuilt. Now has 380whp, an LSD, K04, reprogrammed DSG and complete suspension upgrade with S3 spindles, a arms and beefy sway bars. 350mm Alcon brakes and a braille battery.
Get challenged on occasion, but they learn quickly not to assume a hatchback is a dog.

Finally !!!!! A reviewer that sees the entire system is super easy & intuitive.
The short cut menu is a drop down thing from the top.
I’ve had my 8 S trim for 5 or 6 days. I love it & really like the haptic buttons even 🫢

Just got this car and was looking up how to use the info system! yes its not the best, bottons would help but the car is great!
Great car..I do however prefer the taillights with the animating indicators though
You are correct on GTI with snow tires……my 2010 with Blizzaks was a beast…..miss that car
he lies the leds flicker at a very high speed and the camera is able to catch it even though your eyes will not🤣

2023, and VW still didn't get the Memo about how most people hate the fact there is no Volume knob for audio, and we still have that stupid slider with no lights -- for night viewing -- for Climate Control?
"Intuitive" Climate Controls? Really? Forget the fact you have to feel for them, with little or no indications on the dash, for night driving.
Less features and enhancements for 2022/2023 and they have the nerve to charge $41,000.00 for a 4-cylinder vehicle?
Disappointed with VW over this GTI. But hey... only my opinion.
So when Honda dealerships mark up their SI and type R (I.e. 4 cyl cars) to astronomical prices, it's okay because they're honda?

@@WitchYuki22 I don't give a pass to Japanese brands, especially Honda. Sorry... I think Honda is way overrated. And personally, I typically do not like Japanese brands as a general rule!

I would drop a couple of pounds or so of air pressure in the front tires to help out with acceleration grip
$41 k MSRP plus ceramic coating, 3m paint protection, wash up fee, destination fee, doc fee, tax title and tag will put it around $45k. Don’t for get the $10,000 market adjustment and the $3000 extended warranty and the 6.9% financing for 92 months. For a grand total of $70,000. Make sure to get GAP insurance also. 😂

@@drewskeez1156 You don't care the cheaper materials used since it's a base model. And that's the cheapest one. You go up Autobahn, that's almost R money. I've been driving mine for three months and I'm filled with 10k miles of joy.It's the perfect daily. If you're on the fence, go test drive one.

People only complain about lack of volume knob, climate control buttons, and quality of the interior. You save $10k over Autobahn and get a volume knob with the base. But if you're in the market, wait for the new infotaintment system. A bigger screen is on the way. Then it will be perfect.

The tires / wheels are not a good thing. I have a 2015 and have gone through the low profile tires pretty fast due to damage, not wear. And they are expensive.

Buy a set with road hazard protection. Its the only way to ride if you have low profile tires on crummy roads.

Hi. As far as I know, GTI Autobahn is not, GTI Performance is. And of course, it's a few thousands more.
This is not a 2023. The 2023 has gloss black on all the center consoles and GTI embossed in the seats.
What pisses me off is how the GTI always come with a spare tires whereas the R doesn’t. Just got a flat on my R last week and have been without it for a week due to the flat tire and wheel getting bent. It’s just insane.
And also, why does the GTI get the premium metallic (Oryx) white whereas the R comes with the cheap rental-van looking “pure” white? VW does some weird things with their cars.

R is a 4 wheel drive vehicle with rear diff thus no room for a full size spare in the boot...
A GTI should only come in a manual.

I really wish VW would slope the hatch more aggressively like Honda did with their hatch’s. These look too much like a wagon and that kills it for me.
Sloping the back would make it look more like a wagon.
@@kevs2good133 wagons have more horizontal rooflines, like this VW. Sloped hatch’s like a 90s Integra, 90s Camaro, or the new generation of Honda Civic is what I’m referring to. Those are more traditional hatchbacks that are more sport and less resemble a wagon with their longer, straighter, and horizontal rooflines.

Agreed. These are basically a station wagon. I prefer the sloped look of a hatchback better than these wagon hatches.

So they didn’t fix the horrendous infotainment center. I have had 4 GTIs including my current 2022 and I can say that the infotainment center is literally the only thing I haven’t liked in any of my GTIs. It’s absolutely terrible. The lack of knobs for the climate control and the need to go through menu after menu to change the radio stations. It’s horrendous.
Who listens to the radio? It’s all about podcasts and personal music/playlists that I only use!

No problem with your front wheel drive isn’t that is not gonna grab the problem with the four-wheel-drive if that is four-wheel-drive

For the price, this is a shitty deal. You don't even get the "premium" sound package at a $41k price. Absolute garbage.
Not a bad car...but it's bland. Looks as exciting as Maytag dishwasher. Went to the VW website to do a build. Boring exterior color choices, bland interior colors and fabrics, no two door option, no convertible option...lousy free maintenance plan...overall this car doesn't offer enough variations. Better off with JCW Mini. Now that is one cool car.
Over $40,000 for this piece of crap? What is Volkswagen smoking? This thing is inferior in every way to Honda Civic, and yet is more expensive. No wander VW is doing so poor in the U.S. This car would be good at around $25,000, but at this price point it is absurd.

Nice try you will find the interiors, tech, features (limited slip diff), power, performance/efficiency ratio, solidity of a GTI in a Honda civic! 25000 is what you would have paid out of the door 10 years for an entry stick shift GTI, don't know what you are smoking to come up with ridiculous jokes like this.
Well the average car price is just so high now . My 15 gti was 27k and average car price was 30 . Last I saw new car price avg 48 k ,
