- Here is something a little different. Chet playing Charade and using some nice effects. I like the steady rhythm he keeps with that famous Chet thumb. I didn't really know what to put for photos on this one, I suppose I could have used pictures of Andy Williams, but I don't know if all my Chet fans would have really wanted to see that.
Lyrics:
When we played our charade
We were like children posing
Playing at games, acting out names
Guessing the parts we played
Oh what a hit we made
We came on next to closing
Best on the bill, lovers until
Love left the masquerade
Fate seemed to pull the strings
I turned and you were gone
While from the darkened wings
The music box played on
Sad little serenade
Song of my heart's composing
I hear it still, I always will
Best on the bill
Charade - Krátké a kreslené filmy
Chet was most definitely one of the masters of the guitar
Thanks Daff foer doing this for not just me but the whole Nursery for good listening. Treasuring this respectfully.
Thanks for all the Chet posts, daffydoug. I suspect a lot of non players wonder what all of the fuss is, about his playing. I had probably been playing for 10 years myself. before I actually realized just how good we was, and what skill was required to play much of what he played, in his style.
Wow. A classic Mancini song getting the Chet Atkins treatment.
I've been playing this song for 30 years and this is the first time I've heard a recording of Chet playing it. Happy to say my arrangement is very similar. Thanks for posting.
I have always loved this theme since I was a kid,
taken me till grey hairs to play it,
always chasing' Chet.....:)
I wish I could have seen him live before he passed

@profphildyke from the 1975 album, "Chet Atkins Goes To The Movies"
I have that LP and also the music book and learned how to play it note by note.
Good for you. Bet that is very satisfying to know how to play.
Which book would that be?
@@r1seup144 The book is call Chet Atkins NOTE - FOR - NOTE and contains all songs very well explained from his album "Chet Atkins Goes To The Movies". That way I was always to learn how to play Charade, Over the Rainbow, A Man and a Woman, The Sting, etc.
My dad bought it to me back in 1974 and I still have it in mint condition.
@@camariva61 thanks for the quick reply on such an old comment! Might have to pick up a copy, looks like they have some on eBay. Been wanting to get into some Chet Atkins. Would you have any recommendations for a good entry piece?
I've always wondered what Chet played when no one was around, for himself
Guitar.
Anyone know how to get this tune on iTunes, they do not list the album.
