  • Hi guys, Tech James here,
In this updated tutorial, I will show you guys how to install 6.61 Custom Firmware Infinity Permanent onto your PSP 1000/2000/3000. Don’t attempt this with the GO/E1000. You must have official 6.61 Firmware installed already. This video is just for the PRO CFW.

Hey is this tutorial still the best way to hack PSP to date? I've been out of the scene since like 2014 haha, when I stopped Pro-C was the best but you had to do 'fast recovery' after every reboot to get the games to show. If I follow this tutorial do you still have to use fast recovery after turning the PSP on?

You know what, your video is so well edited, and done step by step to the point that it made everything a snap compared to anything else I have seen and tried, plus you even made the download complete where most fail to include everything which I really appreciate. You, sir, just gained a sub! Thank you! I now have my PSP3000 modded with a CFW that I don't need to constantly reboot with fast recovery within every single boot, and this is nice for my son to use since he is only 8 yrs old and not yet tech savvy! Oh also, can someone let me know what files CAN be deleted safely after this mod is done? I do not want my 8yr old son to accidentally to delete the wrong ones, so the fewer there are, the better. I think it should be safe to remove the installer, and the Firmware downgrader, and a few others, but I would like confirmation first before I do this. I don't want to ruin his PSP, thank you.

I’ve just done this after having 6.60 ME-1.8 as my main CFW.
My main worry is that after watching this I would have to keep the memory stick in 365 with the CFW files!
Gave it a shot, updating to 6.61 official (didn’t have to uninstall the ME firmware. Infinity works great as advertised.
Now the issue...can I remove the memory card without bricking my PSP. Long story short:
After confirming 6.61 PRO-C Infinity was in System Information I shut down the PSP, removed the memory stick, removed the battery and held the power button a number of times. I then braced myself as I put the battery in and turned the PSP on (without the memory stick)... It works fine. Games run fine, homebrew works as normal from another memory stick and the System Information still shows 6.61 PRO-C Infinity.
I can’t say for sure that this will work for everyone but for me I don’t need the firmware files on a memory stick after completing the full install method above.
My PSP is the 1000 (Japanese) version I got at launch.

I never resolved this issue. Though I found it could be related to the SD card in the PSP, I did however realise anyone with this problem technically mods their psp but not permanently. So you can still mod and play ISO’s in your psp but if your battery is taken out you simply need to re mod on restart through selecting the installer, then launcher for the mod files. Simple :)
