Crazy to think that this is his natural singing voice! Vocal coaches have said he must've worked hard for years before he started posting his Queen covers, yet this is how he sings in his day to day career. It's how he sang with Downhere before he started doing Queen. The dude is not just Queen or Freddie Mercury. He is Marc Martel.

2:46 It's like Freddie singing that note. Marc has a wonderful voice, and although he will always have the Freddie comparisons, he has a FANTASTIC voice in his own right. Hopefully he gets more out of the Queen Extravaganza than just they guy who sounded like Freddie Mercury

Jester 501 every artist admires another , it’s clear that Marc’s main influence was more than likely Queen . Every artist will tell you who their influence was and you’ll always hear it in their voice. You will always pick up what you hear the most.
Nunya Bizness he didn’t delve into Queen until he was in his twenties. George Michael was one of his biggest influences in his teen years.
Nunya Bizness Jeff Buckley was another big influence.
I have pressed the time stamp many times just to hear that one note. It's really amazing.
To me, he is the one, the only, Mr. Marc Martel. He is the master of his craft. I would assume that it's amusing for him only to a certain extent when people think of or mention Freddie Mercury when they hear him.
Now, I am a fan of Freddie, I love Freddie. But, sometimes I feel that it's kind of unfair on Marc. I hope that it doesn't annoy him after a while as people do it most of the time.

Beautiful words. He says he’ll never escape the Freddie comparison, so might as well embrace it. “To be compared to one of the greatest rock vocalists ever is a pretty big compliment”, or something like that.
It's a double-edged sword, isn't it? To be compared to Freddie Mercury and use that comparison to any advantage, gets Marc locked into doing Freddie/Queen tributes or voice over work for the foreseeable future, or at least ties any notoriety he gains to being a Freddie Mercury vocal doppelganger.
I think if you're watching these other videos, that aren't Queen covers, you know that Marc is capable of bringing so much more to the music industry. Hopefully he's not sitting on all of his own original music, and unsure of how it might be received by his fans. I know I'd love to hear it!
