Well in that case there is a local club to support but some don't have a local football club to support. My hometown is all about ice hockey and I follow the ice hockey team home and away but when it comes to football there is nothing here really. So when it comes to football it's either support a club from somewhere else or none. If there was a football club to support here I would of course. Okay, there are a few amateur clubs which almost no one cares about, there's no football culture in this town, and if there was suddenly a team from here that would climb and gather support somehow it would be plastic, which I really don't want either.

Not true. Leipzig was their first choice. Red Bull GmbH tried to buy FC Sachsen Leipzig in 2006 (by advice from Franz Beckenbauer, a close friend of Dietrich Mateschitz). That failed. So they turned west (FC St. Pauli, 1860 München and Fortuna Düsseldorf). But there, they only mest lack of interest, protests and legal difficulties. Eventually they realized that investing in a newly founded club designed for the company was the best option, and Leipzig was the ideal place for an investment in German football.

    I don't get it.
Fans, if they can be called this way, of RB Leipzig confuse me.
In this video I saw Fans of RB wearing "Kutten" (as its called in Germany) and trying to imitate ultra subculture - the first named subculture ("Kutten") is simply a phenomen of the past 80s and 90s.
I think fans of RB try to fill a club with a life that supporters of other german Clubs still got, by being authentic because the created this by themself.
    It's just dubious.
A lot of supporter of RB Leipzig argue they wanted to "do something" for the football in the east of Germany.
But where were they the last 20 years and why didn't they join existing ones and try to fill these clubs with life?
If you want the progressive part of Leipzig then join Chemie or Roter Stern.
They guy at 1:50 is right, but if he refuses this, then he should join a club, where he can part of democratic process.
I do not want football in Germany like it is England today.
Most of you non-german tourist think, "yeah the Football is great", but why do you think the German Bundesliga is popular right now?
It is because of the Fans, which created and which prescribe a certain direction.

For those who don't understand the problem you have to consider that Clubs like RB Leipzig and Hoffenheim make it almost impossible for clubs with less money to participate in the Bundesliga.. We have so many great clubs in the 2nd Bundesliga I would rather want to see in the 1st one like VFB Stuttgart, St. Pauli, VFL Bochum, Hannover 96, Eintracht Braunschweig, Dynamo Dresden or 1 FC Kaiserslautern even though I hate them but just to have the Rheinland-Pfalz -Derby again.. But the more of theses sponsored Clubs exist the harder it gets for them because if you put one club to the top everybody else moves one step down.. And for small Clubs like for example Darmstadt 98 (that managed to go from 3rd League into 1st without a lot of money) it is impossible to be competitive.. and all because of some people that either do not know what to do with their money or that want to use Football for marketing to make even more money.. And with Dresden, Aue, Rostock, Chemnitz, Magdeburg there are some pretty good teams with enthusiastic fans in eastern Germany, too.
This is why we hate Clubs like Hoffenheim and Leipzig!!

should've asked them what they did before 2009? There are very old and cultural, traditional "real" football clubs in Leipzig that play in 4th division but the atmosphere is better than at RB, like the stadium is never sold out even at a CL game. And also in Germany there are many traditional clubs that have been relegated from first Bundesliga or even the second Bundesliga and many people then think RB is stealing a placement to be one out of eighteen Clubs in the league

TheWalterSamuel21 When the fuck have Aston Villa spent £100m!? I'm looking through their history and the most they've spent is £60m and that was when they sold Benteke and Delph for a combined £40m.
Let's face it, they only really spent a net £15m each year on average and you just needed some bullshit to back you up. Also, 30m Euro is hardly anything in the current footballing climate for an established Bundesliga side, what's mad is that Leipzig can spend 10x more than any team around them can afford and people will still claim what they're doing is good for competition.

RattenBall Leipzig is just a big surprise in this season, just like Leicester was the last season. Look at Leicester now, in relegation battle and without a coach. It will be interesting to see, how Leipzig will do in 3 competitions (Champions League, Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal (they got knocked out very early this season). I am pretty sure they won't be as good, because the opponents are already used to their tactics and they will have to play more games.
After the winter break they lost to Dortmund and HSV already.
And also, it isn't very hard to have a good transfer policy if you buy the best scouts of other teams.

There is a limit of how many "artificial" clubs the Bundesliga can handle. There will be a backlash and consequently, there won`t be as much money to be made as there now is. Ultimately, it's the big traditional clubs like Bayern, Dortmund, Schalke, Hamburg, Bremen, Mönchengladbach and so on that carry the Bundesliga.

Football revolves around connection, identity, representation. What Red Bull does is totally the opposite of what football have always represented.
There was a Red Bull club here in Brazil called RB Brasil, set in the city of Campinas, land of other two traditional clubs with huge fanbases, Ponte Preta and Guarani. RB Brasil was awful, their team was shit and they couldn't even manage to get into the national league, and their games had always ten or nine people in the crowd, nothing more than that.
My point is: people support Leipzig and Salzburg mostly because of their success on the pitch than for love, because you can't feel represented by a club that spits their product in your face whenever you look at their stadium, kit, badge, whatever. RB Brasil sucked balls and had 0 connection with the people from Campinas = no fans, no love.
You can actually counterargument and say: "Maybe they support them because it's their local club!" That can be an option, but still, Leipzig has Lok and Chemie, Salzburg has Austria, and Campinas has Ponte and Guarani. That is, there's no excuse for them to turn their traditional clubs down in order to support RB Clubs, aside from short term success.

  • @QuietSilenceNow

I am not a fan of any club in Bundesliga but I really respect Leipzig. I don't understand the logic of some people in the comments section. RB invested money but they DID NOT buy flashy signings like Chinese or English or American clubs. They bought young players who no one knew. And to get into the position where they are now is commendable with these players. Give some respect for that atleast. Probably your club spent more money than Leipzig did. And about the fans, you were once a new fan too, nobody questioned you back then and moreover people living in Leipzig will support the club which wins not the other way round!
