Jason Momoa Gets Emotional Talking About Nearly Losing Emilia Clarke

- Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen are one of the most endearing power couples from Game of Thrones, and that strong bond carried over to the real-life relationship between Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke.
Even though Jason Momoa only stuck around to play Drogo for one season, he and Emilia Clarke have maintained their close friendship. In a recent interview, Momoa talked about Clarke’s health battles and how strong she was in the face of them.
Clarke previously suffered from two brain aneurysms that almost took her life. In the interview, Momoa got emotional about nearly losing the Mother of Dragons, and here’s what he had to say.

@@missmizer I'm not a Doctor. I've worked as as a Navy Corpsman for 20 yrs, & I've worked in hospitals. My impressions are from talking to patients and reading... I'd say she's better off now that she & her doctor have the knowledge that that possibility is there...
The biggest risk w/aneurysms is being unaware you have them. She's healthy, her doctors will always be aware of her history so they'll monitor for them, & she seems smart- so she's likely to eat healthy & take care of herself. I've met several patients who were Post surgery over the years who just "had a feeling" they should get checked out... They were post repair for Abdominal Aorta Aneurysms (not what Emilia had, hers were in her brain)...which *will* kill you if they rupture. But, knowing it was there, the Dr can make treatment decisions... Like how likely is it to rupture? Operate or not?

She's has two minor surgical procedures and one major surgical procedure to her BRAIN... And she recuperated secretly while dealing with becoming famous for the first time on an incredibly famous TV show? I'd say it's pretty impressive.

One correction to this video, Emilia Clarke suffered two brain hemorrhages when each of her aneurisms burst. That is extremely more serious than just having an aneurism. She suffered two strokes, and only around half the people that have that particular type of stroke survive. She is extremely lucky to have not only survived but also seemingly has no permanent brain damage.

Sean Boggiano she did suffer permanent brain damage actually, a part of her brain died, but I’m not sure what kind of aftermath it caused, she was terrified she’d lose her acting skills.
I don’t know her, but she really seems to genuinely be sincere and just nice. I really like her!! Glad she’s alright.

I don't care much for actors/actresses but I suffer from post concussion syndrome and have many brain issues. Knowing what she has gone through and does is crazy inspirational and she gets mad respect from me.

She’s so amazing. I’m a cancer survivor. I know what it’s like to live through something like that and come out the other side. It’s traumatizing, to say the least. Every day you wonder if today’s the day, and that fear of a reoccurrence is always with you. It’s PTSD, in addition to getting over it physically. Love her so much, and I’m so glad she’s ok. What do we say to death? Not today. Damn straight.
You never know what a person is going through. So glad she's doing better. I couldn't picture anyone else as Dany had the worst happened. Thanks for delivering such a powerful character to us through all your pan Emilia.
I was just sitting here thinkin the same thing about her not being able to return as Dany. I don't know if I could have continued to watch the show, as much as I love it, without her. I'm very happy she survived all that mess.

My aunt suffered from same it's been sometime but my aunt was being driven to work midday her husband said suddenly she grabbed her head and said " ouch"
Kinda of fell over to her side and passed away, so very fast without warning. This is another reminder to hold loved ones closer and say all the things you need to say and live life like it's your last day everyday. Zero regrets. Btw so sorry for your loss

As a person who has an aquired brain injury from an accident the awareness that Emilia has put out there is admirable. Good on you Emilia for your brave recovery.
She’s even more awesome to me now that I’ve heard all the hardship she went through, and the dedication to fight all those challenges and to help others that are going through similar challenges
She also had a beautiful and loving support system, which helps tremendously in any moment of trauma. Support systems are so significant.

As a TBI survivor I understand the fear of not having "yourself" any longer. I Pray she continues to follow her heart, lives to a very old age and knows her story helps so many have less fear of what may be ahead.

My son suffers a ruptured AVM when he was 4. He was in an induced coma for a month and a half. When he came to he was like a new born in a 4 year old body. He had to learn how to do everything all over again. He has come so far and accomplished so much but the road to recovery isn’t easy. I’m so proud of her for fighting and pushing forward. It’s people like her and my son that motivate me to be a better person.

Just lost my uncle to a brain aneurysm last Friday. Fortunately he didn't feel anything, since he just passed out and never woke up. I'm glad she pulled thru, not many survive a brain aneurysm yet alone two.

i’ve always feared something like this will happen to me and it’s terrifying that all you can do is wait and pray you live if that’s the case. i wish it was simple enough so that people can be checked yearly for any potentially significant problems at a doctors rather than the routine physical that doesn’t do any real justice in keeping you healthy
It's sad because healthcare should be affordable and people should be able to access scans, regular neurological health checks, stroke and brain injury isn't thought of as needed or important by insurance companies

I had an aunt that was in her early 20's (21) who was just watching TV and had an brain aneurysm, she died before paramedics arrived. I'm so glad that she made it through 2 brain surgeries and is in a healthier situation now.

Ive had invasive brain surgery and i barely remember waking up. Its hard to believe she woke up in more pain than an actual aneurysm causes. Healing from that shit sucks though. And i relate to her constant worry about dying. That is very real
