This is the FIRST time Purple Nerd Channel and I disagree on something! I haven't heard the Deluxe version of this album (didn't even know there WAS a deluxe version...and now I'm wondering how I can get it!), but the original version, I loved FROM DAY ONE! Future Soul Song is one of THE best Prince songs ever made, in my humble opinion. When I first heard that song...DUDE! I had to stop it, because it was just too much. I played that bad boy I don't know HOW many times. That song is a JAM. Everybody Loves Me is like pure New Wave Soul Funkadelica. Love it. The whole album is in my Top 10. Well, maybe Top 20.

I like the consise nature of this album, a very easy listen 4 me. The 2 ballads R a bit lackluster, but listenable.
Have u made a top 10 fav album list yet? I'd be curious to see what would make your list. Certain albums would roam in and out depending on mood, I don't think I could have a top 3 either. Lol
I bought the deluxe version on ebay...and the cover wasn't Purple...it just said Deluxe on it amd had like 5 or 6 new tracks

He is definitely wrong soon as I heard it....I knew this album was a smash...even tho it's his opinion but no way you could not think this album was top 20.....probably number 15 to 20 but the production on Beginning Endlessly and Future Love Song.....alone makes this album a pure Gem!
This album definitely has its own following, I just missed it. It’ll probably hit me on my next listen 😊
As a superfan since '83, I love this this album; it's playful, breezy, and inspired. Beginning Endlessly is (weirdly) one of my favorite Prince jams (that fonky break!)💜 I love the 2009-2011 period (Montreux!).
Agreed it's not great. Not particularly adventurous for sure. Best track for me is Laydown - now I like that one.

Why not just review the album and not an imaginary deluxe. Don’t want to sound negative. Sadly this is a prince album I can never get into apart from 3 songs. He should’ve given Lotusflow3r away in 2010 as it wasn’t available to buy in Europe at that point. This album is Prince asleep, bored, un inspired, no wonder he had a gap for 4 years with albums. My opinion and I’m glad others like the album. Fan since ‘88 and 90’s Prince is my favourite so don’t shoot me 😉
Lavaux, Sticky Like Glue, Laydown and Future Soul Song are dope af tho'. 🔥 I group this album with The Morning After, Hot Summer, Cause & Effect, Turn Me Loose, Purple & Gold, and Rich Friends. 💜✝️
I can describe this Prince album in one word. Boring. I have all 39 Prince albums and a bunch more unreleased stuff. Everything he released after 1998 was hit and miss period way more misses than hits. Meeting Larry Graham and having Larry Graham so close to him and becoming a Jehovah's Witness really ruined Prince's Musical output. Too much annoying religious BS. I would rather Prince have got AIDS or cancer than have joined the Jehovah's Witness religion

Oh wow. Dead on. I wrote my previous comment before watching the full video. Same songs! Minus Turn Me Loose. Certainly not his best album, but I find Welcome 2 America unlistenable with all the America sucks, slavery's still alive, woke bullsh!t. Think there's a reason he never released it. I hope for an instrumental version. 🇺🇲
The album might suck, however prince was right Amerikkka does suck, Racist to the bone and the country aint woke near enough

@jeffs9300 ,in case you didn't get the memo about Prince, he was a Black man in Amerikkka and he talked about opening up a history book seeing a Black man being hanged, FYI Prince was Black and the experiences in Amerikkka are real
