- This is my favorite trip every summer. 19 miles from Station Camp Tennessee to Blue Heron Kentucky. The scenery is truly incredible. I got a shuttle ride from Sheltowee Trace Adventure Resort. CFS went from 500 on the first day to 300 on day 3. Perfect levels for kayak camping with gear and coolers. And for fishing and swimming. #kayakcamping #bigsouthfork #devilsjump #backpackingwithjason

Let me know if you’ve done this section before or the Angel Falls area. CFS was 500 first day. By day three it was around 300. Perfect for Kayak camping with gear and for fishing and swimming and enjoying the rapids.

@5:30 imagine how much flooding happened to get that tree hung up on the rock! You needed that good splash on Devil's Jump to clean your britches afterwards 😅

Great trip Jason. I had anxiety with canoeing but calmness with the fishing. Heck yeah. Nice catches. That was cool to see the rock in the root ball. Well done navigating those tight spots on the river. Have a great day.

I did a 4 day canoe trip ending at Angel Falls. It was a blast! I hammock camped with 8 other people ( most in tents). We did portage one rapid that if not done properly could take you under a rock outcropping but I can’t recall the name of it. The 90 degree turn rapid was so fun. I’ve been canoe camping a few times a year in addition to my backpacking trips. We’ve done Big South Fork, Greenbriar, Pine River in Michigan recently plus some smaller Ohio rivers . My whitewater days are well behind me ! We used to put on wetsuits and do rivers all over New England in April and May when all the class 3-4 rapids were ripping ! Great fun !
Dude…… that’s awesome. I’ve never done kayaking in cold weather. I like doing the rapids but with gear and coolers and fishing poles 😁. I’d love to do this river with you and Justin

At the Devil's Jump, about 12:30, that place reminds me of the Millstream Gardens we have here in Missouri on the St François river. I cut my white-water teeth on that river.
That Devils Jump looks like a blast, and it was fun trying to read the water as you guys prepped for your run. Yeah, that river has some great character and camping! Thanks for taking us along!

Now this was a fun adventure , busting through some pretty rough rapids with all your camping gear and your gear stayed dry. Man you handled Devil’s Jump like a pro Jason…..with a little help from Jesus. Buddy you are living your life !

I’m game. The hard part is getting the water levels right. The CFS needs to be between 600-300 to have fun with the rapids and still have good campsites and fishing and swimming.
Jason I think a kayak splash cover is useful there

Nice dude never been in a kayak but me and my buddys like to do the upper gauley in WV were going back at the end of the month. A good day can be over 5000 cfs the highest ive heard was 14,000

The company is called “Old Town “ they have lots of kayaks. Mine is called “The Loon” Best kayak I’ve ever had. The dry holes are awesome

Devils is supposed to be class3-4 depending on the water level. But the rapids before Devils Jump are pretty wild too.

It gets deep in some spots. We go swimming and fishing and the whitewater is so much fun
