I technically started it years ago - before the Grumps changed offices, before Michael got LASIK, before Arin re-dyed his streak magenta - I just didn't get a chance to actually WORK on it until this dang reunion tour. As far as dreams go, this is pretty straightforward.
I once had a dream where I was flying an airplane, but the sky was made of pudding, with the clouds made of jell-o. For whatever reason, I decided that I needed to land that plane immediately, but I only had my flying license, not my landing license, so I ended up crashing the plane into a subway station, and boarded a train. The train disappeared into a dark part of the tunnel, and then I woke up.
My dreams are the fucking trippiest dude
Seeing as dreams tend to be a jumbled mess of all the things your brain recalls being exposed to or hearing about it's really not too surprising. Plus your brain knows what scares you most and can pull it out of no where on you like it thinks it's funny hence sleep paralysis demons being a thing
I really like the aesthetic choices to limit the color pallet for the dreams 👍
And the explanation was not shoe horned in whatsoever. Completely organic and i LOVED it
It reminds me of that one episode of Flapjack when the gang tries to go West and have that nightmare from drinking too much sea water

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's dreams include:

I didn't pick up on the fact that it was AH people in the back of the car. I think it vaguely registered on some level, but I wasn't like "Achievement Hunter?! In a Game Grumps video?!". I did notice that the tattoo artist was called Geoff though and assumed that wasn't a coincidence.
I find it hilarious how fast his dream ramped up from a regular dream to a nightmare hellscape in the span of a few seconds

My dreams do that so much, I'll just have a dream about getting up and going to get some food and then theres a creepy demon in my kitchen and everything goes w r o n g.
what arin’s describing, with the movie cuts, is actually a phenomenon that a lot of people experience. maybe it has something to do with the fact that our brains absorb a lot of information from movies and that becomes part of our subconscious? interesting to think about.

I remember something being said that most people didn't dream in color until around the age of color TV. I don't think that's true though.
I remember that when I was younger, I used to have these vivid thoughts of me, my parents, and everyone I knew acting as if we were in an old cartoon like the Looney Toons. With the cartoon logic and everything. Stretched limbs, over the top expressions, etc.
However, as I got older, my thoughts became more and more realistic and resembled a scene from an action or horror movie. And when I was first dealing with depression, my thoughts, especially my suicidal thoughts and thoughts of self-harm, were mostly cinematic.

@@gamefan6219 and it would be tied together somehow in a way that actually seems logical at the time, with like.. barnacles being clams instead, clams are molluscs, octopodes and squids are molluscs, ink comes from cephalopods..tattoo.. theyre getting their revenge or something.. there'd be a saucy gag with an octopus going after Margaret and Eileen starts sweating heavily..

seeing the AH Crew was a pleasant surprise.
I had a nightmare recently where I was in a park with friends and I saw a hole on the floor and there was a horse carcass in it but suddenly the floor around it started getting soft and I noticed it was turning into just gore and more carcasses everyone but me managed to back out fast enough , it took me to about waist level and i couldn’t get out cause every time I tried to lift myself out my hands would break through the rib cages and flesh and once I made it out I saw it was still spreading so I started running and not knowing what to do I frantically knocked on a house yelling for help but when they opened the door all the blood in me was gone and none of it was anywhere anymore I just cried and explained what happen begging for them to believe me and to please not think I’m crazy
i read a visual novel that was a bit like this. i don't remember the name.
your character suffers a head injury and from then on sees the word as a horrific fleshy nightmare everything is gory and fleshy and bloody and people are basically fleshy balls of blood and viscera. the crazy part is that its not just his sight, but his hearing and sense of smell are also absorbed into this nightmare.
then you get to decide what happens next.

I’ve had a nightmare where I was walking in like a fantasy world with a lovely forest and everything then suddenly everything turned into like an amalgamation of different animal bones with strings of muscles tissues hanging of them and it started raining blood in which I woke up at 1 am in the morning and refused to go back to sleep.
I love that achievement hunter is in this. I swear they are so underrated sometimes

This is literally how my own dreams go. They're just a bunch of nonsense and if they somehow turn into a nightmare it's always about something that's totally not scary in real life but it's like the scariest fuckin thing ever in the dream world

I’m kinda jealous that he can remember his dream so vividly, and every time I have a dream, it’s like this kinda thrilling adventure, usually based around characters not involving me, and I wake up after it ends and I cannot remember a single fucking thing EXCEPT the end, which pisses me off cause I was legitimately invested in that dream

I'm so happy someone animate this. It has to be one of my favourite stories I heard from Arin.
One tiny detail I love is how Barnacle Girl is animated. Up until the barnacles she just has this happy, vacant expression like "absolutely nothing will go wrong today!" and communicates mostly in thumbs-ups until the world turns into a nightmare horrorscape.

I adore this animation, the difference between the real world and the dream is basically two different artstiles, especially with the sudden colour pallette change with the B A R N A C L E S, you emphasise the sudden change in tone so quickly.

Sometimes, in my dreams, I'm constantly flipping in midair. It doesn't matter what the circumstance is. There are just parts of my dreams where I'm just doing flips and tuck-&-rolls in midair.

I feel really lucky now that all my nightmares have just been a racoon in a fedora sitting across from me in a dark lit room with a single lightbulb above us. I've definitely had those whip cuts in dreams and I've definitely seen the dragon he's talking about but my tree monster was more like mushroom shaped.
