You are to be commended for taking on such a project. Nice job.
Thank you! I appreciate that!
Not my style, but to each his own. You've created something that you can enjoy for many many years. Enjoy it! Anyone saving an old boat from the landfill is doing something worthy.
Man I’m never one sided with anyone on CZcams, but I see a few thumbs down, WHY that’s a lot of cleaning, prepping, masking patience, and hard work, KUDOS bud looks great...
Thank you, James! It was a lot of work. But we enjoyed it!
Fine job. Really good stuff.
Fantastic job! Really love the gray and white interior.
Thank you!
You did a great job Browski, lots of confidence I wish I had
Thank you Very Much!!
Wow, really nice work.
Thank You!
Beautiful job!
Thank you!
Nice work man. Looks amazing. I'm inspired to get working on my 88 Capri Cuddy 1700
Thank you! Good luck on yours.
Very nice job!!! I like them.
Fantastic so beautiful you have made the boat.
I love my own Bayliner. Great boat for a great price.
Have a great summer

Thank you for the nice comments! Much appreciated.
impressive work, congratulations. You sure put in hard work in the there
Thank You!!
wow great job man that's one lucky boat
Thank You!
Love those old Bayliners. Those Force Motors aren't the fastest, and they are heavy pigs, but they are indestructible! Great craftsmanship
Getting it ready to go out this year. Next week vacation!! Put a new fuel pump on it, now all 3 carbs get there own fuel. instead of 1 line feeding all of them. I need to make a video, I have added alot of things, swim platform etc.
@@bc47359 Hey Brian I was just wondering if you mind telling me which type of fuel pump you used to feed each carb it's fuel. Thanks
@@darrellhobbs8494 Fox Distributing DF52-92 Mikuni Triple Fuel Pump
I purchased it on Amazon. They still have them.
@@bc47359 Thanks bud.
If you're still looking for the swim platform, there are a couple on ebay right now or I might just have a spare around here somewhere. I have 3 bayliner capri's with a ton of extra parts. The platforms are all the same from the mid to late 80's on the 1700 ~ 1850 series. Good job on the restoration!
Amazing job
Krystal McCauley Thank you very much!
MrJasonace99 - Thank you, The bimini top is a Westland top. We got it from iboats. I believe it was around $300.00. I didn't think I would like it, but after using it for awhile I'm really glad we got it.
Good luck with your boat. I know it is a lot of work, but it is well worth it in the end!
It held up great. I used it for 3 years after I finished it. But sold it a few years back. When I got rid of it, it looked just like it did after I painted it.
Super cool....
Thank You!!
nice job brian
thank you!
Great job!
I am in the the process of doing the same. A 1989 Bayliner Capri 1950 (OMC sterndrive). This is my third project. Previously I sunk too much money and time in. This time, it's going to be on a skinny budget. I am recording the progress too, so my video will also hopefully soon be released.
Thank you. Good luck on your project. Will watch the video when it is uploaded!
Still not completely finished, but 90%. Here it is: czcams.com/video/_Gim7UL-BD8/video.html
can i ask: whats your budget?
complimenti
How has the paint held up? About to do mine. Thanks! Good job too btw!
Nice job. Funny way to spell 'GO NAVY' on your hat though.
Thank you! Go Navy LOL!
The only Bayliner parts that I needed to get were the windshield vents. I found them used on ebay and I painted them. Luckily I could make everything else that I needed, or used after market stuff. I do still need to find the correct swim ladder yet.
What are you needing? And good luck on your project!
nice Job that boat looks awesome Im working on an 88 inboard new floor wasnt to bad resin fiber glass , I left out the ski locker thought it would make the floor more solid. Ill try to post a video
Thank you!
Let me know when you post your video. I would like to see it.
hi tom!.......do you have any pictures of your floor being re-done with the fiberglass and resin? I would love to see how it turned out because I want to fiberglass my floor to get it as waterproof as possible for ocean fishing. Much appreciated!!
nice vid, i just picked up a 17 ft bayliner capri with a 85hp force and cant wait to do this to mine, any advice or anything would help. im a photographer too so i cant wait to document its transformation.
Pretty sweet
Thank you!
I have an 89, same model Bayliner. Via the painting pics, I didn't see where you did not take the top half off. Did you redo the floor and tansom prior to doing all this hard work? It seemed in rough shape before you started. These small boats are great for those who are basically by themselves putting them in the water, etc. I think mine has a people limit of 5, with a 75 outboard(repowered from the Force 85 and got second hand) You did a great job....just don't know if I can tackle it, especially if I have to replace floor and stringers, etc.
Might be a personal question but I just got a 90 Capri that needs cosmetic work. Paint and upholstery. How much did you spend to get that fixed on your boat? Nice boat by the way.
nice... clean
Thank You!
and are those buttons ? that are srewed into the panels?
Surprised you kept the Force. If it were me, i would've swapped it out for a mercury. Good build man! black looks WAYY better than the blue and white
Thank you! I had no problems with the force.
nothing against your work. just haven't heard good things about those old things
@@baylinersimp787 I heard the same. But mine ran great. I couldn't complain.
@@bc47359 Well lucky you! Always one or two boat motors that turn out to be something special
Did u redo the floor?
what paint did u use brotha? Looking to do the same thing to my 88 18ft capri
+terry gonzalez Automotive paint. Limco 800k primer, Limco black base coat, paint with pearl flake, paint with pearl ghost gold, custom shops diamond crystal white magic. And clear coat.
What kind is screw or nuts did you use for the side panels?
I did not replace the glass. Just cleaned it up really good. I don't know if you can find replacement glass.
i bought mine about the same time. stupid Force motor lol im not giving up tho and its getting really close. wish i could post picks. 1989 capri
What size fuel tank is on it?
BLACK? Personal experience made it that I will NEVER paint a boat black again. Especially the interior. It gets way too hot in the summer and shows hard water extremely easy. At least the carpet was light grey. THAT BEING SAID, the work you did was GREAT! Well done. Loved the motor paint job. Gives me ideas for mine.
The boat isn't black. It just has a black base coat. Then greenish blue pearl coat and metal flake. The motor is black. Thank you for the compliment on the work!
Hey where did you find all the parts to restore this boat im doing the same thing and cant seem to find any
Some were hard to find. But managed to locate what I needed. Found many on ebay.
Hey Brian, do you have a power trim on that? If so where can I find one?
Jonathan Martins No power trim. You might be able to find one for your motor on ebay. They are kinda expensive.
Pay special attention to the floor. These boats were not the greatest and make sure the floor is solid. If it isn't you are looking at a lot of work!
Bayliner used some cheap waferboard in the floors of the ‘80’s boats.
what are your thoughts on plastidip? ive done a few car parts but curious about the marine aplications
I would have replaced that force outboard with a mercury.
I'm working on the same boat and seen your video on your before pic next to the motor the separation on top of transom seen you put a metal strip across top did you silicone the gap or fiberglass that.
I could not find the replacement plastic anywhere. So, I fiberglassed it. Went to Lowes and got some angled aluminum. Sanded and polished it and rivited it on.
How did you get it on and off the trailer to.the Jack.stands
+Zane Clossey While it was on the trailer, I took cement blocks and bottle jacks. I modified the bottle jacks with plate steel and carpet so it would distribute weight more evenly. once I got it high enough I pulled the trailer out.
I am restoring an 87 Capri 1950 right now! I'd like to ask you what you used to paint your boat. I'm looking around a lot and only seeing roll-able poly paint, and I want spray-able paint, because I want to do something similar to what you've done here, only with tri-coat molten orange! Sherwin and Dupont seem to have a few things but not much. Thanks for posting and your boat looks awesome man.
I used automotive paint. Base coat clear coat.
High solid clear I imagine?
Nathan Sisler yes
ThAts very impressive. How much did you pay for this boat?
Estupendo vídeo, te felicito y te admiro tu tenacidad, te voy a imitar estoy empezando con un restauración parecida a la tuya en cuanto la termine la subo a youtu.be, Saludos.
+OSCAR RIOS ¡muchas gracias! Buena suerte en su restauración.
clearcoat doesn't peel?
+terry gonzalez Not if it is put on properly. 2 part clear coat.
Hey Brian, where is the bilge pump located on this type of boat?
juan gonzalez It is in the bilge. On this boat, lift the pouch between the two back seats by motor, it is in there behind the gas tank.
+Brian Cain ohh okay I found it , but it's really in there . have you replaced it? if so how did you do it to remove it?
+juan gonzalez Mine wasn't fastened in. It just set in the bilge close to the drain plug. I did replace it and just set new one in and connected it to a new drain hose.
how much black and pearl did u use on the boat hull?
+terry gonzalez a little over a gallon of black base coat. about a gallon of primer and about 2 gallons of clear coat. Flake is mixed in clear. 3 coats with flake and clear and 3 coats of clear over top
Nice thanks for the info! The boat looks great!
Thank you Terry.
What kind of paint did you use
Limco 800k primer. Limco base coat. And 2k clear coat.
does the paint get hot in aummer time
summertime
The one I have now was purchased on EBay. They said it would fit but it doesn't even come close. If you do have a spare that would work let me know how much you want for it.
Thank you!
one other question did u redo the floor?
+terry gonzalez No, the floor was in decent shape. Just the epoxy resin was wore off and pealing. So I sanded it all down. Then applied new fiberglass cloth and 3 gallons of epoxy resin.
Nice i have a soft spot up in the bow hope its an easy fix 😕
But I'll keep u updated on my boat its actually going Canadian blue metal flake from paintwithpearl.com I love their products
+terry gonzalez Yes, keep me updated. Paint with pearl does have some good stuff. I have used their products and always had good luck with them.
No, floor was solid. But, I put new fiberglass mat and epoxy all over the whole floor.
Nice as shit man! Just picked an 88 same one working on the restore now. Mine has the inboard. They are some relatively enexpensive boats but sporty and nice looking. Yours looks dam good bro. Id like to jnow how much that bikini top cost you and where? Nice work man.. thanks for sharing
How hard did you kick yourself for painting it black? Speaking from places I go in the summer it is hot. Anything dark color will literally burn you. Plus water spots black can be tough. Nice job though.
brianbirc It isn't black. Black was just the base coat. It really didn't get hot. The only thing that was a problem was in the bow. We put some grey vinyl on the seats. Those got hot! Should have did all seats white..
Is that original Bimini top? Mime snaps to the windshield l kind of annoying but yours must be after market
Mine was after market
what's up Brian I have a Bayliner Capri too 1999 I am from Panama do you have some contact for text you
That's as smart as restoring a Yugo!! You'll be done with 10K for work and the boat is still worth 4K. We used to call them flexible flyers. You could see the boat twist as it came off the trailer.
Mike383HK your wrong. Did all the work myself. EVERYTHING
Half the price if you do it yourself. Nice job
pro-dec(dot)com They have a good assortment of screw caps.
after 11 minutes into the video I feel drunk. Camera person was recording from a waterbed.
She was actually floating in the water!
